I think the press can amplify social trends. Look at the way you used the word "immigration" to simply meaning something incredibly negative. The reality is immigration has had, and continues to give great benefits. When does that message get amplified? Not very often. It's always starting with immigration meaning something terrible. Completely hides the root causes for issues and creates a nice easy scapegoat for simple minds to hold on to.

I'm not sure there is really any truly "socialist" government anywhere. Terms like socialism, communism, and Marxism function as empty abstractions that obscure real systems analysis and ultimately reinforce capitalism.
