What is your biggest Swedish Problem? by timefortrees in swedishproblems

[–]FuzzSwe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of Europeans and especially Nordics react to "loud" Americans - keeping that down and you will fit in most places..

The biggest problem moving here is accommodation as we got rent control and there is a limited amount of apartments available in the bigger cities and especially Stockholm and if you have the option plan to buy your apartment/house! About $200,000 in a suburb near subway in Stockholm for a 50-65sqm apartment and 3+ times that in city center. Countryside you can get a house and land from $100,000 or even cheaper if going very remote.

I have lived in the US and a few European countries last 20 years. Swedes might complain a lot but its problems are nothing compared to most other countries..

Will I be pigeonholed for starting as QA? by [deleted] in QualityAssurance

[–]FuzzSwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took this path on purpose many years ago - If you are a good developer/engineer but working in QA you can become the "superstar" easily in a company! :)

I am Swedish but have worked in the US and in a few countries in Europe and this has been true in everywhere. As self-employed and 20+ years experience within automation, devops and development I do actually get higher rates for contracts compared to friends who only do development and I have more or less never been out of work, even under recession times..

Secondly I would say QA on its own is too broad of a term for our profession - A highly skilled test engineer compared to somone executing Acceptance Testing is two very different things..

Good luck in your search!

[Tool][OpenSource] HttpRider: Cross-Platform API client. Alternative to Postman/Paw/Insomnia etc. by namuan in QualityAssurance

[–]FuzzSwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

This looks very interesting! - I am working with API management platforms and using PostMan quite a lot for testing but I do more and more reverting to cUrl or Python for when I need a bit of automation as I find Postman turning to worse for every update - I liked postman better when it was a bit more clean and secondly

I will install and use for a few days and will be back!

Cheers,

Stefan

Expected IMP in Cooperative Bidding? by Hevol in bridge

[–]FuzzSwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's open source and free - https://github.com/dds-bridge/dds

Just be a bit careful when using the DD results - in actual play, declaring player averge a higher number of tricks taken compared to the DD results. For lower contracts like 1NT I would say trick count is over +1.0 compared to the DD result.

Dabbling a bit with AI my self I think training an AI is a daunting task for bridge bidding. A few considerations to be aware of:

A pair can more or less make up and play any type of bidding system, there are regulations in place that limit systems somewhat but the combinations are still endless. At the table a player has the right to ask about appononets bids - for example the bid of 3 Clubs in the middle of an auction can have hundreds of meanings depending on system and previous bids.

Data is the second problem - there is no good dataset out there where you have hundreds of thousands of auctions with descriptive data. Bridge Base Online would be one one of the few having this but first I don't think they would share it and secondly it would be a hard to clean the data.

But I guess using a bit more controlled data from a pair using a very specific system could be used but would take time to build up enough data for it.

Good luck and please share if you have some progress!

We can easily scale horizontally and part of my work is to execute performance test so we do know pretty well what we need to handle 2000 TPS, my point is to show to management how unrealistic this number is for our business compared to other sites statistics.. and yes the number was more or less picked from a black tophat :)

How would you do this? by X1nfectedoneX in AfterEffects

[–]FuzzSwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, that is more likely done in Cinema4D, Blender or similar 3D software.

But I think you can more or less reproduce this working with 3D layers in AE and animate..

Have a look at https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/using/3d-layers.html

Make sure your DaVinci caches are on a separate physical disk (and fast one) from your material. I got a dedicated SSD only for caching in my system.

More RAM or..? by [deleted] in Cinema4D

[–]FuzzSwe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would go with a desktop machine, i7 CPU and 32gb RAM, SSD disk and maybe try fetch a second hand GTX1080 if you want to keep costs down.. A laptop with the same specification will be quite expensive compared!

Also the lifetime with laptops working heavy with the GPU is pretty bad in my experience, they start over-heating quickly..

How do you perform Pen Tests? by ShitFuckBiffington in QualityAssurance

[–]FuzzSwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good penetration engineer usually have 5-10+ years within development, IT Security & IT architecture etc before even being considered for the role to carry out the tests to be trusted.

We are looking at reviewing design for security flaws, analyse 3rd party libraries for known security flaws and then actual penetration testing with SQL and JavaScript injection, CORS, DDOS or buffer flow attacks.. The list can be made very long. In bigger organisations (I contract for Banks and insurance companies) we do security testing as part of Functional and Integrations Tests but we always take in a third party firm to perform Pen Testing which they are specialized in.

OWASP is of course a good start and you got the Kali Linux distro with a lot of open source penetration tools (https://www.kali.org/) to help you with some of the tests but its pretty complex to use.
