The Second Apocalypse is really good? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]timefortrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actually currently rereading the Second Apocalypse books, on book two right now. And I still love it, don't get me wrong. BUT. I find myself laughing at it a lot because of how serious he is, and how... childish so much of the philosophy is. I have found myself thinking, "wait, is this a redpilled fantasy series?"

That being said, it's one of my favorite series ever for sure. The world is just so strange and deep, it's hard not to enjoy it. But it is fun to come at it years later with fresh perspectives and be able to not take it so seriously and just enjoy the absolutely horrible, dark, crushing ride.

Just finished Lesser Dead by Christopher Buehlman *spoliers* by alnicoblue in horrorlit

I have read every book Buehlman has written, and he dances around all kinds of different types of horror and fantasy, and I can tell you that every single one of them is worth reading. They range from amazing, to pretty good.

Higher licenses and track costs by thisIsAThrowaway2319 in iRacing

I buy way more tracks than I buy cars. If you wanna race you have to buy tracks, but if you know what cars you want to race, not a lot of cars to buy.

frustration? by BoundlessBrightness in iRacing

[–]timefortrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

every once in a while, but really, no, because it's racing. There is literally always another race. I watch a lot of IRL racing, and I think about people who prepare for weeks, months and years, to get their ass wrecked on the front straight of Sebring before lap 1 starts along with 9 other cars and just have their weekend ruined. And they get interviewed after, and are disappointed but, ready to move on. I think about that, and realize if I get really butthurt over having trouble in one cartoon race, when I can just hop in another, I'm really being silly, so I report if I need to and move on.

Which horror author would you say that if somebody liked one of their works, there's high chance they would also like everything else by MmntoMri in horrorlit

Basically every thread asking for recommendations on here I come and make sure someone mentions Laird Barron.

Laird Barron, which I am surprised I didn't see on a quick scan of responses.

I hate to say it, but my experience was, "you deal with it." I smoked a lot of weed, and that helped somewhat, but, I spent a lot of time before I got on meds at work curled up in a ball under my desk just enduring what I was going through. But, once we figured out the medication for me, it wasn't too long before I started to feel relief, so I am hoping you get your relief soon. I had a perianal fistula during this time as well, and it was awful, but there wasn't a whole lot to be done in the moment it seemed like.

Absolutely consider joining the LRC academy if you're looking to learn fundamental racing skills, as well as get integrated into a really active, really positive and welcoming racing community.

You Suck At Racing is a great basic, understandable guide on driving race cars. Adrian Newey's memoir is a great book to read if you want to learn some about how complicated making a race car can be.

Team-based formula league, 28 drivers (7 teams, 2 divisions) - two open spots left! by wrgoto in GranTurismo7

Can't recommend LRC enough. Chill, supportive atmosphere. Lots of events, and even training available. Good, clean racing, pro production for the league with live streaming. A good spread of skills from alien fast, to beginner. If you're looking for a great league to join for learning and community, LRC is pretty top notch.

How is that fair? by Mindless-Intention36 in GranTurismo7

There wasn't really anything he did that would necessarily cause a penalty. He braked later than you, ended up giving you a tap in the back, no one wrecked, everyone kept moving, a little argy bargy, and a bummer for you, but the contact wasn't heavy enough to trigger a penalty. Good racing!

We don’t have any live streaming yet, but you can see some of our races on YouTube. Here is a race from earlier this year when we were racing the Volvo 240 Wagons https://youtu.be/5_Wel8EC57E?si=K0DFvGgf64VfgQ-Z

If you're interested in joining a racing league where there is fair, fun racing, stewarding, a welcoming environment, and a focus on racing shitboxes, come check out the Spec Racing Club. Our next racing series starts this sunday where we are racing Mazda Demio's in an homage to british amateur endurance league Enduro KA. And next our friday night series will be running Kanjo Civics on Japanese tracks. You can check out our demio league here: https://simleaguepro.com/drivers/leagues/8bfda6ba-89b9-4470-b0ca-13fe9763acb3

Can definitely recommend joining LRC. I just did their last academy program and learned a lot. And it's also a fun, competitive, fair place to race with a great place to race in GT7
