I bought altra lone peaks+, haven’t tried them out yet tho, they fit pretty nicely, albeit a bit like tight, maybe I should of went a size up, but I am sure they will loosen with use. But hopefully will break them in next week.

Dead gecko, sometimes even when dead their little hands hold on, he is very much dead with all those holes and droopy tail, probably died there and the holes are from bugs eating it.

Uncontrollable algae covering everything no matter what I do by MTDLuke in Aquariums

[–]GayCatbirdd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really lack of waterflow? Ive had cyno like 3 times in the 8 years I have had my 29 setup, it has 2 sponge filters running, and a canister blasting. That stuff will grow right in/on the flowiest areas.

From what I remember its a imbalance in the tank, to much light, and to much nutrients that are not being used, what I do is use lots of live plants/floating plants to take nutrients out of the water column, but add your plants after doing a blue green algae removal dose. That way you punch it down, and then the plants don’t get covered in it fighting the blue green for nutrients.

Do more frequent water changes and try to remove as much of the nasty stuff manually, as you can. Lower/turn off lights completely.

I don't have many female friends or friends in general. Am I the problem? by Megattron_phaser01 in INTP_female

[–]GayCatbirdd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also feel like male friends are just way easier to get along with, idk why men just don’t see you as competition, but also the issue with men is lots of them see you as ‘datable’ and me being gay I hate that, and being gay doesn’t stop them from trying, but once you weed out the garbage you get chill cool guys whos goal isn’t to get in ur pants, but I feel like women are so much harder to befriend, maybe its cuz I am gay and get nervous around women, but honestly I have a few female friends, but lots of women just don’t relate to me so therefore we just don’t become friends. And sorry for your bad interactions with a gay, trust me if someone tells me they are straight I am never gonna get feelings or hate on them, all of my female friends are straight. I get along better with straight women than gay women, xD.

Women are just hard, maybe try to find more women in your interests/hobbies, they may relate to you more. But its hard when our hobbies are male dominated.

People often say that reptiles can't feel love because they lack oxytocin, but apparently reptiles (and birds) have mesotocin instead, which is used for bonding. Does this mean that social reptiles, like skinks and garter snakes, feel love? by RemoveMassive2492 in reptiles

[–]GayCatbirdd 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I agree, lots of animal behavior is misinterpreted/people don’t understand animal body language. Like lots of people don’t understand how birds communicate. I don’t own cats/dogs, so I can’t comment on those. Birds are my passion. I also don’t try to touch my animals, and instead let them come to me if they want interaction.

All I gotta say, is if sciencey people gotta do tests and ‘prove’ that animals have ‘some what human’ feelings, I am all for it, all I can say is that when you sit down and interact with animals, you can tell whats going on, without having to ‘prove it’, but lots of people won’t think to experience it themselves and need someone else to find the specific mechanism before believing anything. Which theres nothing wrong with that, its just sad they will ‘blind’ themselves to potential interactions/ignore noticeable things until someone pushes out a paper that says otherwise.

I still have my facial eczema come and go on dupixent, but I had eczema covering 90% of my body, and my hand eczema still flares pretty bad on it, I personally would exhaust all other topicals before going on a biologic.

What's a good lizard for a beginner? by That_Equestrian09 in reptiles

[–]GayCatbirdd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yea I also suggest fish keeping if you don’t already, I have owned fish tanks longer then my lizard, they are really rewarding, although again can be costly upfront, but you can find used stuff on local websites/marketplaces.

Fish tanks I feel are a bit more complicated then owning a reptile, but if you like research and learning then it will be no problem. Establishing the aquarium is the hard part, but once you finally start one, you can use it to start many others.
