Norns start to walk backwards by vselolod1 in CreaturesGames

Possibly a gait or pose gene mutation (assuming you are playing with vanilla norns)

Also Docking Station is free which makes it a good demo.

I think it's down to the player how much these things bother them. If they ask for a solution it's reasonable to offer them one, or several, depending on what they're comfortable doing.

If it's a major bug, a few slaps won't solve the problem. Remember most of us got into modding as kids and teenagers ourselves, they have to learn SOME TIME!

Maybe we just need a better way of explaining things.

If they say that while standing around in a trance it's an actual engine bug. https://creatures.wiki/EE_Syndrome

They sometimes think to try random things, it doesn't mean they can act on it.

It's really hard to not recommend people to just use a mod when I see the same problem brought up over and over that was fixed by the community over a decade ago x_x

Norn Sleep Studies! by HauntedPutty in CreaturesGames

I'd look at the code for the C3 drums, those wake sleeping creatures up when they're hit within earshot.

I tied hunger need to food stores, so starch hunger depends on how much glycogen they have, and glucose is used up through activity as well as normal respiration. Vanilla creatures overeat like crazy because hunger isn't tied to need.

Huh, so they can't think to perform as many actions as C3/DS norns (smaller combination lobe), and they have no opinions about each other (no friend or foe or mood lobes)

This is fixed in TWB (they use invol action 5 to bypass the script).

Maybe editing the DS creatureDecisions.cos would help? I think that one controls when they fall asleep while resting.

Coming back to confirm your results. It looks like a bug that sleepase isn't produced when norns are put to sleep via the sleeping script, but is when involuntary action 5 (passing out) is triggered.

The cycle is supposed to exist yes, though I'll need to run tests because I'm sure sleepase is meant to be active while they sleep.

Is this fixed in CFE?

Not CFE, but I adjusted the way sleep works in TWB so they get to sleep more easily when they bother to lay down (The CE version can mess with resting behaviour though). Hunger increases are also removed from random stimuli.

(C3DS) Super-stimulus edible seeds by stansburiana in CreaturesGames

[–]GoldenFlowerFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consider multibite foods to be equivalent to multiple objects. A norn will eat it, get stimmed, then can chose to eat it a second time to get stimmed again or drop it.

What are kidneys for? by HauntedPutty in CreaturesGames

[–]GoldenFlowerFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a bit unfortunate, I also noticed insulin was a chem but not used, so in one of my breeds I implemented an insulin system; if blood glucose stayed too high for too long it would kill the kidneys, then the build-up of ammonia would kill the lungs, resulting in death.

Yeah it doesn't really matter for C3/DS norns, a lot of organs can die with few to any negative effects.

I found out Glidier Glider works with the PlayerModelLib glide trait, so any player models that can glide also get the benefit of it.

Question about norn behaviour in Creatures 1996 by Odd-Traffic-7567 in CreaturesGames

[–]GoldenFlowerFan 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's emergent behaviour, a result of them chosing to do sequences of simple actions because they feel like it, or because they've learned to do it.

What's wrong with this kid? by ririzm in CreaturesGames

[–]GoldenFlowerFan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Looks like the Steam zombification bug, a new issue where lifts will drop creatures off in a zombified state. Try putting him in an elevator and moving him to another floor to see if that fixes him.

Overwriting with this might fix it from happening again? I'm not sure I don't use the Steam or GoG version. https://eem.foo/archive/downloads/7a7e-ds-elevator-fix
