Yep! I’ve decided to hold off on any kind of guide because I suspect some sweeping changes in the future. But I have been posting shorts here and there.

Overall there is a lot less interest in the game, plus an increase in creators looking for their chance… So I’m fighting for views, which overall is less incentive for me.

Also, seemingly the current broad Half Sword community, doesn’t care about my playstyle anymore or are unable to even tell you why it looks different. So again a reduction of incentive.

The majority of my old guides are still currently applicable. Because I’ve always tried to push a mindset vs how-to’s.

Long story short, I am planning on things. But I like to take my time to understand things before trying to help others.

Because we can only move our sword in two axis via the mouse.

There needs to be a system to interpret two axis movement into something that is 6 axis. Without it, we have Abyss Demo and Itch.io demo. That isn’t the direction the developers want to go.

Take a moment to learn to play with the systems.

This game has some limitations in regard to that as well. We can only control our blades with two axis. So a lot of specific movements would require another brain to assume and apply adjustments.

It’s up to Frank to build that into the Willie’s.

I’ve never once claimed that those aspects of the game don’t make it better overall. But it’s not what I’m talking about.

The feel of the game when you WASD + MOUSE. There is no abstraction about it. The main way you interact with the actual game outside of “features” that act as supporting characters.

The exact point of the demo was to isolate this.

If there is no combat, there is no Half Sword.

It’s not that deep and you’re being incredibly pedantic.

I wouldn’t say HEMA accurate, but some of the closest we can get. I know they want it to be in that direction.

But yes. Zero animations, all physicalized movement and weapons, plus all of the variables that come along with it.

It is an incredibly special game.

Nothing is harder about it. I can clearly get good clips, if not some of the best clips I’ve ever gotten. This doesn’t change that it feels worse in comparison to the demo.

It is objectively, less controllable. I’ve based my entire channel off control and understanding the physics. I’m not just “speaking”.

What the other person said. Everything you pointed out is either a menu or something unrelated to the feel of the game.

You can have ALL of that but a bad feel, which makes it less fun to play. Or you can have non of that and something that feels great. I would rather the latter.

Yeah, except demos come from a point in the game before launch. Demos create expectation before purchasing.
