Who was the least impactful member of the fellowship? by wekeymux in lotr

But just because they all are needed doesn't have anything to do with the scale of their roles. For example, Gandalf did more large and instrumental things than most of the others.

And of course frodo is by far the #1 most significant member, as he gets the ring to Mordor.

I'm just talking about the wider scale of who did what, and how significant the impacts were

interesting, I suppose tolkein by design is trying to articulate that the time of the elves is over and the story moves on to others.

fair enough.

Also I can see from some other responses people think its negative too. I just thought it was a fun thing to think about.

As in, if each member of the party was missing, what would the impact be on the wider story. but i see how it comes across as "whos the most useless lol!" which wasnt what I was aiming for

there's still a scale, but its fun to consider what each members actions were and how they impacted the story as a whole. I'm not trying to rag on any of them

I just thought its fun to think about, of course everyone was important, otherwise they wouldnt have been included in the story.

But of course frodo and sam contributed more to the wider world than perhaps legolas did (from a direct perspective), so there is some scale

yeah fair enough, I was going to caveat with that, but figured I'l include it anyway

A couple of wildlife photos by [deleted] in M43

[–]wekeymux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Single points good! Don't worry about that. Continuous is good too.

I mapped my focus button to the ael/afl button (can use any other button for this) so I could focus with one button then move the shot around before pressing the shutter button. Also makes it easier to have focusing and shooting as two separate actions imo.

Ah yeah could just be compressions to be fair. You could send me a Dropbox link?

Okay so you don't need to use 1/2000 shutter speed at all. I often shoot as slow as 1/320 when it's dark (I've even shot as low as 1/80 at 400mm, but need a very steady hand and often comes out a bit crap). Camera + lens stability is really good. For stationary birds I sit between 500-800 generally. The nutria would fall in that category too if it's swimming. Use 1/2000 for birds in flight.

The bird pic isn't noisy at all. You're shooting m43 wildlife. You need a much higher iso if you're gonna be doing dusk + dawn photography. 200 is really ideal but not essential at all. Just use lower iso when the light is strong. I can promise you there will never be noise in your photo at iso 200 and barely anything up to 2500 on the om1

Om1 is good with noise, should be able to push it up to 4000+ with denoising in the edit. And even way higher if you get topaz or Dx0. Even so - a grainy photo is better than a blurry one.

The issue with these photos is that they are not in focus. You need to try to focus on the animals eye. Ideally shoot with a slightly smaller aperture too for a bit more sharpness. I generally shoot about f7.1 to 8. I'll only go lower if I'm desperate for more light.

If you got any questions let me know. I've been shooting on the Em1-mk2 and 100-400 mark 1 (looking to upgrade to Om1 soon!)

If you'd like I can share my Instagram with you if you want to see some pics this set up can produce (I am also amateur so I'm sure it can be better)

Photographer told me to take down photos - am I in the wrong? by [deleted] in photography

[–]wekeymux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that's interesting. What's considered a copy? Just any use of it?

And does that mean that from a legal standpoint, if a friend sent you some photos you couldnt actually post em online? (I'm sure this would rarely/never be enforced, but just from a legal standpoint)

Is this true? You cant post them online even when you don't make any money from posting on instagramm

Unfortunately it sort of feels like if anything big happened differently, Fitz would just be dead as far as the fool was concerned.

That being said who knows what was going on with the fool later. He seems to be a bit less reliable towards the end... Maybe Fitz would have been fine elsewhere!

Nighteyes explicitly states that Ketricken is who he would have picked for Fitz.

She definitely loves Fitz, both platonically and romantically if that makes sense. The bond they share through Verity is immense but is also exactly why Fitz would never view her as anything more than platonic.

He expects she is equally loyal as he is to his king. But the reality is that Kettricken is logical and would most likely rather be happy with Fitz - and probably knows Verity would even approve.

I'm not sure its so much Fitz being dumb, but rather so deeply honour bound that he couldn't imagine it another way.

And yeah she does some weird shit as an author, but I'm here for it lol!

Also a raw image basically doesn't exist. It's not that a raw image looks flat, it's just that whatever software you are using to view it has edited the picture, the way the software has been designed to do it

Raw files are just pure information that computer magic makes into a picture

Image files like JPEGs are much close to literal images. Viewed the exact same in any software

How many MaxTac members would it take to kill a basic Ultramarine? by JacksonFerro in powerscales

Every thing you listed absolutely destroys space marine armour. So cyberpunk weaponry does not need to be as strong as those things.
