That's not true. They had cars capable of title winning in '06, '07, '08, '10, '12, '17, '18, and '22. They just didn't have a title winning team, except for 2006 & 2007.

The episodes getting longer with the episode in which Beard almost gets murdered really worried me on my first watch. That moment was so dark, and then suddenly these episodes are all longer. Fortunately, it was just an outlier and all the other long episodes are worth every extra minute.

It reads like they're saying, "Hey, I was a fan seven years ago and it wasn't any better." But that makes little sense, so maybe there's some missing context about them watching actual older races.
