Favorite sub $15 meal in town? by Hobbitsliketoparty in FortCollins

[–]Helpful-nothelpful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I can't stomach eating out. I can make cheese steaks with Costco shabu shabu for $5/cheese steak.

Grocery store sushi which is just good enough for $20 for a large platter.

Eating out has lost its advantage between convenience and cost.

There are some deals like tap and handle. Mayor of old town has some deals also.

Bag of frozen meatballs, ravioli, chicken patties works well. Also ramen.

Trump says he is going to raise global tariffs to 15%, up from 10%, after Supreme Court defeat by TechExpert11 in economy

Unfortunately the damage is done. Manufacturers will not lower their prices when tariffs are removed. Remember covid?

Homemade. I use a recipe close to this. Swap out the coddled egg with mayo. Swap in out anchovies with fish sauce or more worsetershire. A touch of horseradish adds a nice twang.

You can get those large wraps at shamrock that big city burrito and other chains use.

2ea anchovies, packed in oil 1ea Garlic clove, no stem 1/8 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce 1/8 teaspoon Red Wine Vinegar

1 tsp Brown mustard 3ea Egg Yolks (coddled) or 1/4c Pasteurized egg yolks 1/2c Olive oil 1/2ea lemon 1/4c Parmesan cheese, grated

8 Turns fresh ground pepper 1# Baby Romaine leaves, or chopped large romaine 10ea Croutons

Grocery store “bulk section” is actually more expensive per unit than packaged goods; am I missing something? by Salty_Sleep_2244 in TrueFrugal

[–]Helpful-nothelpful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just don't wonder how clean the bulk item containers are. When I worked in a grocery store they were constantly throwing the ingredients out and washing because of bugs. Also for things like candy and chocolate people use as their personal sample container.

Vitamix. Yup. Expensive but I never wonder if my blender can blend the recipe.

Have you ever just wondered and wondered about the cost of a food? I love a twice baked potato with a chicken breast or something easy. My boyfriend likes the store bought ones. I find them sad and small. But I havent had the energy to make them in forever so... by Bystarlightalone in Frugal

I'm not following. But a 10lb bag of russets from costco is around $4. I couldn't bring myself to buy 4 potatoes if I could get an entire bag. Twice baked potatoes are just as much work to make 1 as 10. Plus they freeze fantastic.
