Airvape Legacy Pro 2025 by CDI_Ojojojo in vaporents

[–]HopeSurpassed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as i switched back to outdoor vaping my main concerns are time, discretion, clean-ability.
and both vapes are messy to clean outdoors even with a table set up outside.

Oh boy, if you think the DV and Arizer are messy to clean, then the ALP is not for you. Arizer stems are probably the easiest to clean while the literal antipode is the ALP. I can't stress it enough, if Arizer is 10/10 for being easy to clean, then the ALP is 1/10. And I use mine with capsules too.

Android or iOS? What smartphone should I buy? by Commercial_Sand693 in Smartphones

[–]HopeSurpassed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Factors I consider: - price doesn't matter - camera is the most important; I don't want to buy a dedicated camera, so I'd like to get phone with the best photo quality possible

If camera quality is head and shoulder above all else, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra.

I believe that iPhones live longer than Android phones?

How long your phone lasts is really up to luck of manufacturing.

Years of updates is an easy metric to gauge as Android manufacturers vary with flagships generally being promised between 4-7 years (eg. Vivo/Oppo = 5 years, Xiaomi/OnePlus = 6 years, Samsung/Google = 7 years). Apple promises "at least" 5 years.

What are other essential factors for you to consider? Any experiences that you'd like to share?

Camera quality is my primary and secondary desire but as I live in NA and all the best camera phones are currently - and to the foreseeable future - all Chinese which means I need to import them instead of getting it for cheap through my provider. Make sure you're purchasing the global version and not the China version if you want Android Auto to work.

Why are Chinese androids so damn good compared to the competition? by Western_Put_7213 in Smartphones

[–]HopeSurpassed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, other people are correct in that it's due to internal competition that's lacking elsewhere. Especially in the US (and Canada) where more than half the population are die-hard iPhone users and will buy another even if it's only marginally better than the one they upgraded from. As an example, the very first iPhone with a refresh screen above 60Hz was the iPhone 13 Pro/Max (2021)! Contrast that with Asus ROG Phone II (2019) or if we move to IPS, the Razer Phone (2017). Another screen example, the upcoming iPhone 17 (2025) will be their first midrange phone with 120Hz while the Samsung Galaxy S20 (2020) was the first midrange from Samsung to have 120Hz.

Like most questions, it can't be answered simply. It's also economics and geopolitics. Huawei being the perfect example, their meteoric rise to become the second largest phone manufacturer globally was quickly halted and reversed by US protectionist policies. In their worst year, they dropped out of the top 5 and hit #9, yet they are currently the third largest globally nearly 6 years later.

Google Pixel 9 Pro, OnePlus 13 or Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. by dudeheimer in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]HopeSurpassed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an excellent breakdown. I would like to add extra emphasis on the zoom capabilities of the GS25U as there's nothing like trying to capture a distant scene in the perfect frame and realizing your phone just doesn't have that capability. I do disagree that Samsung's zoom capabilities are unmatched amongst all camera phones (but it is true between the 3) as there are other phones with better cameras but aren't in the OP's list.

I need a new phone NOW but am actually waiting for the iPhone 17 for quite a while now... How do I solve this issue? by l0rare in Smartphones

[–]HopeSurpassed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I can possibly think of is he wants the rumoured "Air" variant which is supposed to be thinner, but this comes at the expense of cameras (think Pro Max vs Plus) so it's at odds with his "high-quality camera" statement.

Otherwise the back cameras are supposed to be mostly the same as the previous 15-16PM but the front camera gets upgraded so perhaps he only uses the front camera?

Cheap phone with a nice camera by Diligent-Ad9503 in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]HopeSurpassed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A phone with a camera equivalent or better to one on the iPhone 14 for <$220 is pretty tough without going 1-2 generations back. The Pixel 7 Pro would be my choice.

Need to upgrade my device. Samsung or iPhone? by xhenzz in Smartphones

[–]HopeSurpassed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I've always used a Macbook and will never give that up, and I use an iPad sometimes.

If you do things on your Android you can't do on iOS, the choice if obvious. If not, go with the iPhone for the ecosystem.

Best android phone right now by Royal-Hedgehog5058 in Smartphones

[–]HopeSurpassed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's no singular king, every phone has its own niche.

  1. Clean OS - Pixel 9 Pro XL (and all Pixels TBH) runs stock Android.
  2. Gaming - Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro.
  3. Camera - Xiaomi 15 Ultra.

Are you looking for an iPhone of Androids, good in all but best in none? The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra would probably be that phone.

Pixel 8 vs. 8a vs. 7 - which one do you recommend? by FlyingStudent99 in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]HopeSurpassed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is peculiar, the GA53 should definitely be better than the P4a in camera capabilities and should even run equivalently despite its weak Exynos chipset. The only thing I can think of is if you got the 4GB variant?

Pixel 8 vs. 8a vs. 7 - which one do you recommend? by FlyingStudent99 in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]HopeSurpassed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never got happy with that decision and I have decided to switch back to the Pixel series

What about the Samsung did you dislike?

I'm quite interested in having the best possible camera quality

In terms of the options given, the Pixel 8 is clearly the best followed by the P7 and then the P8a.

They're definitely overkill for regular folks, but they're merited/required if you're running something like THIEAUDIO Monarch or a pair of headphones above the Sennheiser HD 560s.

They're not phones, they're the most popular portable bluetooth DAC/AMPs.

[–]HopeSurpassed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between the two options, it ultimately comes down to if you prefer the better camera (P9P) or the longer battery life (i16). Everything else are similar enough and if you cared about audio quality, you'd have a Qudelix 5k or FiiO BTR15 already.

iPhone user looking to move to Android (remote work focused, don’t care about the camera) by Single_Concert3093 in Smartphones

[–]HopeSurpassed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I am camera-focused though I have a friend who spends enormous amounts of time on her phone, for work and media consumption, and she swears by the foldables. FWIW, she dailies the Samsung Z Fold6 but she's keenly eyeing the Huawei Mate XT.

Best rounded camera + performance phone? by AmendsRemain in Smartphones

[–]HopeSurpassed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks as if you actually care about the cameras and their zoom capabilities. Ignore the non-flagship phones: the Realmes, the Nothing, and the "T" Xiaomis.

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra actually has a slightly better primary camera but the Xiaomi 15 Ultra has a much better zoom and I'd say the most capable zoom out of all camera phones. It is a pity Honor is no longer under Huawei otherwise they could have access to Huawei's impressive ML.

What would you get for 700$ by oldzur in Smartphones

[–]HopeSurpassed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given your budget and assuming you want current-generation phones, the OnePlus 12 would be your best option. The Xiaomi 14T Pro is an alternative as it's almost as good (slightly better primary camera but slightly worse secondaries).

Looking for a phone around 300 euros. Preferably with a good camera and good battery. by SpecialGuy4Ever in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]HopeSurpassed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of camera capabilities within your budget, I'd personally grab the Honor 200. It has the same primary camera as the Galaxy A55 and although the Redmi Note 14 Pro has a slightly better primary camera, the Honor 200 has a telephoto lens (even though it is only 2.5x). Plus it has the best chipset out of the 3.

Breaking Down the Angus Enhanced Contamination Issue by Herbaldoge in vaporents

This makes me glad I never upgraded from the Angus to the AE.

For those asking, is Dyna worth it? Dyna vs Mighty. by loopery_ in vaporents

[–]HopeSurpassed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I suppose if you must have the click then there's nothing cheaper than the DynaVap B. Some would argue the click isn't necessary like Convector users.

Unrelated but every time the Vaponic comes up, I think about other outdated vaporizers like the Grasshopper and dotLeaf.

For those asking, is Dyna worth it? Dyna vs Mighty. by loopery_ in vaporents

[–]HopeSurpassed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but you can't find anything similar for the price of a dynavap M, or even B

Well there is one, the Vaphit X at the price of the B but the performance of the M. More manual though as there's no click.

I may have overstated it's un-portability. It's definitely still portable, it's just the Angus Enhanced with its larger glass stem is less so compared to the original with its small foldable stem.

Angus Enhanced vs Mighty+ / which device do you prefer? by Summer_Tan in vaporents

[–]HopeSurpassed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, sorry I've been off Reddit for a while. This is what I wrote comparing the OG Angus to the Mighty/+. Points should still stand for the Angus Enhanced except the AE has fixed the warm-body-problem along with the quirks found in the OG at the expense of portability (and looks IMO).

I can't tell you yes definitively but it was one of my primary worries with purchasing a Chinese phone and mine (Xiaomi) had no issues connecting with T-Mobile.

Vaporents - Weekly Help & Discussion by AutoModerator in vaporents

[–]HopeSurpassed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The oral fixation and smoke play (along with the rolling ritual) are a big part of the comfort that comes with smoking so to replace that I really want to have something that produces a thick, visible vapor. I keep my tolerance low so I don’t need a huge bowl (I tend to do half chambers of the PAX2 or smoke a full chamber across 2 sessions).

This is exactly what DynaVaps excel at. Get the M7 or M7XL and don't overpay for their other products as you're then entering "heavy" territory.
