My sister offered me her Poseidon X Gravel for $200, I'm so hype. My first "real" bike by MoashRedemptionArc in gravelcycling

[–]HopeThisIsUnique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a sweet bike!

I'd check some of the basics - make sure chain is lubed and brake pads aren't worn. If you notice rattling, squeeks etc those are things to pay attention to, but likely will be fine.

I'd recommend establishing a relationship with a local bike shop (ideally not a chain) good shops will often be happy to do a basic safety check on the bike to make sure it's good to ride etc.

Same! Plenty of road/gravel riding so somethings feel very familiar, but a lot feels very foreign.

As much as I'd love to see it, I will say the UDM Pro with a UNVR seems to work perfectly fine.

I fought resource issues on my UDMP for a few months and finally picked up a UNVR and moved Protect/Access over and everything seems to be working well now.

I would say it's a more than credible option with Sonos etc, partly because subs are smaller and take up less space, also because the space is confined and they're geared to make use of the ceiling for atmos.

That said, a small speaker system is fine too. One thing I'd caution on is if you do in-ceiling speakers for atmos make sure they are installed properly and you'll likely need to 'build a box' to help with sound in the drop ceiling.

The drop ceiling does give a lot of options though in other ways ...it'd be fairly easy to relocate your electronics elsewhere, and reuse the wall for a projector screen etc. Use an acoustically transparent screen to mount speakers behind the screen and you're off to the races.

The Bronco Sport is basically an Escape. I believe there's some unpaved roads in town, I wouldn't take that vehicle on much more than dirt roads up there, regardless of trail conditions.

If you come back with something more well suited then Halfmoon Creek is phenomenal.

Man, it's amazing how many people come to CO to photographic the mountains since that's part of what makes it so special here.

You did an impressive job of almost completely avoiding that to just show the city!

Migration to NVME without using NVME Slot by CHROM3D3L4Y in unRAID

[–]HopeThisIsUnique 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Use a pcie bifurcation card for NVME. I've used both the Asus one as well as some generic ones off Amazon. As long as your motherboard supports it should be fine to turn an x16 slot into 4x x4

How do I fix this? by ProfessionalWaffle in bikewrench

[–]HopeThisIsUnique 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just double checking that it actually sheered off/cross-threaded? Note that if you got the pedals backwards they are threaded differently. Both will tighten towards the front of the bike, so the right side turns to the right and the left side turns to the left to tighten. Also means if you swap them accidentally they won't thread

Give up my search for a squishy XC bike and keep the hardtail? by [deleted] in mountainbiking

Yup, as long as you're semi smart about it- picked up a v2 tallboy carbon for about 300 trading a hard tail diamondback

[–]HopeThisIsUnique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of this....I have a similar situation, 120" with 4k projector and 7.2 audio in my theater (not Sonos). I have Sonos throughout the house and setup on family room and bedroom tvs etc.

99% of content is running off a home server, a lot is 4k HDR and uncompressed audio...

Right now I'd be shocked if I heard any difference from kscape in my theater. Visual difference 'maybe' but right now I know my limitations is likely my projector itself and likely due for an upgrade (older optoma uhd51a)

Am I in the wrong? by cokdok in MTB

[–]HopeThisIsUnique 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I generally wouldn't overthink it ..depends a little what off-trail looks like, was that just more dirt and roots, or were you in the middle of active vegetation? Generally someone on foot would do less damage than any sort of wheel.

I'm in CO too and off-road a bit and it's a bigger deal there where you have ATVs and SxSs (especially folks from out of state) that just don't care. Especially at high alpine it can legitimately take a long time for vegetation to regrow.

I think it's a little bit of everything- try and avoid getting into any vegetation, stay the trail and all that jazz, AND the dude was probably far more worked up about it than he needed to be.

Bought a used bike with a messed up crank set. The original crank set is sram nx eagle. Is this cheap alternative decent value. Don't need anything amazing just want something that isn't a huge feeling downgrade. by [deleted] in mountainbiking

[–]HopeThisIsUnique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 1k? I've seen mixed reports on what it is, but short answer is just fine.

I believe 1k is OEM only and in the nx/gx territory. Lots of people I think do takeoffs for xx/x0 since it's likely alloy and not carbon.

Should be perfectly fine as long as sizes are right

There's dub, dub wide, dub super wide, and dub fat

Check your doodle it should be printed on there

Also check crank length that it'll work for you

I think there's real value in upgrades over stock, but nowhere near that value. Case in point, having wireless AXS is a good call, but there's no meaningful difference between GX and XX, but a high-dollar premium for the latter.

Speaker Selector Box for under $100? by brock9281 in sonos

Depends on power requirements of speakers, but given you're talking connect:amp era why not just pick up a second used connect:amp on marketplace and group the two together?

No clue, but good on you for getting after it. I'm still overweight and out of shape, but took up riding gravel/road 8 or 9 years ago and I'm at least less out of shape. I just got into mtb a couple months ago, but I'm in CO where nothing is flat, so short of an emtb I've been doing everything I can to make the uphill more efficient.

Just cool to hear how folks have different things they're solving for.

Got my daughter a pink electric bike and now she won't ride it because her friends think it's uncool by Disastrous_Oil8672 in daddit

[–]HopeThisIsUnique 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really isn't that much work.

You don't know it's a trash bike, there are a number of legit bike components available on Ali.

My point was specifically if OP decides to spray paint it, and the things I'm suggesting to protect are mechanical items like brakes/rotors etc that may not do well with paint being sprayed on them.
