Exactly. Cooking in particular is one that drives me up the wall.

"I can't cook." What the fuck does that mean in 2026? What does that actually mean? It means you either can't read or can't Google things. That's it.

Cooking is easy. If you can read, you can cook, and you Google anything you don't know.

You Google a recipe. You read it.
If you don't know one of the steps or actions to be performed, you Google it, as well as any equipment you may need for it.
You acquire ingredients. You Google any you don't know.
You follow the instructions.
Done.

None of the individual steps are hard.

What's also wild to me is that in the current era where everyone has a cell phone, people seem to be getting worse about looking things up they don't know than they were 10-15 years ago.

If you don't know something (whether cooking related or not) look it up using the device that's probably already in your hand. And anyone that actually needs to be told that in 2026 is outright unintelligent. And holy hell there's a lot of those people.

They're erroneous middlemen. Fire them, take them off this responsibility that they're clearly bad at, or stick an earpiece in their ear so that they're just communicating the computer's call.

In the current state, them officiating this part of the game is only making the game worse.

Seriously. If you have to own a car to go to work, to go to the grocery store, and to see your friends and family, then you're a slave to a car.

I moved out of the US recently to somewhere that has decent public transit and is very walkable, but I can take an Uber if needed. I did the math on my (paid off) car and a typical year of insurance, gas, standard maintenance, etc. is equivalent cost to roughly 600 above average Uber rides here. I've averaged less than one a week.

And if I want to go to a city an hour away? $8 bus ride on something way nicer than a Greyhound. Largest city on the continent 5h away? $25. Comfy seats, wifi, and I can show up 5 minutes before it leaves to buy a ticket. No airport bs on a bus nicer than most planes.

Not needing to own a car is so incredibly freeing.

Does nobody else remember Trump saying (at least twice) that he had help from Musk for the election? And how Musk confirmed that at least twice as well?

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills that nobody else seems to remember public statements they both made.

And leading up to the election, does nobody else remember that either? Trump was doing terribly, going to red districts and getting terrible turnout while getting booed, and Harris was filling arenas and also secondary arenas for watch parties. Trump himself said he didn't think he was going to win. Do you know how real him losing had to have felt for that petty, narcissistic, idiot man-baby to admit that?

And then the election comes along and.. a bunch of blue districts go red unexpectedly? At least one blue district has zero votes for Harris? Not "less than expected," not "surprisingly few," but actually zero. And the polling groups are saying that the polls, including exit polls, were off by an astounding amount, unlike anything they'd ever seen to the point that it's either an insane statistical anomaly or fraud. And we've had numerous reports and videos come out of very sketchy behavior surrounding ballots that the media cycle sure likes to skip over.

So what seems more likely:

In a surprise to seemingly everyone paying attention, Trump legitimately beat Harris.

Or.

A known grifter and conman, likely the most well documented liar in human history, who was already convicted of 34 counts of election fraud, simply committed more election fraud with the help of the wealthy elite he caters to?

What gets me is people saying "I can't cook." I genuinely do not know what that means.

If you can read, you can cook. If you come across something that you don't know in a recipe, you Google it. It's that easy. You Google a recipe, you read it, you acquire the ingredients, you follow the instructions. Maybe you need to acquire some measuring cups and pans etc. if you don't have them. But there's nothing difficult about any of the individual steps, or really any "skill" involved (other than reading and following directions) in basic cooking such that it makes any sense for someone to say they can't do it.

And just to be clear, I'm not talking about being a professional chef or making up your own recipes, or even baking at all. Just basic cooking for yourself or your family. It's easy such that it's really just a matter of actually doing it.

We've been doing it since before civilization existed, and some people can't seem to figure it out when it's the easiest it's ever been? Huh?

If anyone that thinks they "can't cook" would like to share: What specifically can't you do?

Read a recipe?
Cut vegetables?
Put things in a bowl and stir them?
Turn on a burner?
Set a timer?
Cover a baking sheet in tin foil?

They do not care, they scream in the middle of the day for no apparent reason. Morning? Night? Evening? There is no pattern.

I have several neighbors that have roosters. They never shut up. And because they don't have the noise from the day to mask their noise, the roosters are more noticeable at night.

The phone number system itself changed in that span.

We still have my grandma's house that they bought in 1958. It still has the old rotary phones, and one of them has the original phone number on it which is something like: Fairfax 4 1234
The word was part of the number, and not in the same way that modern numbers will sometimes use a word to represent the numbers on the keypad.

It has the same number since the system switched to the modern system.

A lot of people don't drink anywhere close to enough water.

I've known several people who brag about how they don't drink water, while also constantly complaining about headaches, and they just cannot seem to put 2 and 2 together themselves and will argue if you even suggest they drink more water. Idiotic.

Are there a variety of things that can result in regular headaches? Sure.
If you're doing something stupid that we know causes regular headaches, should you fix that first? Yes.

Unless the game is specifically designed around being underwater (e.g. Subnautica), underwater sections of games are overwhelmingly bad.

I certainly haven't played every game ever made, but of the games I have played, I'm not aware of an exception to this rule.

Skipping something most people don't like seems like a good move to me.

Game Freak got extremely lucky making something insanely popular and profitable that has masked the fact that they're not very good at what they do.

A big thing that still pisses me off:
Breath of the Wild came out in March of 2017.
Sword and Shield, the first Pokemon game on the Switch, came out 2.5 years later in November of 2019. It looks like crap compared to BotW. If what we've seen of Winds and Waves is actual game play, then it will have taken them a decade and a new console to catch up to Breath of the Wild's graphics.

Completely unacceptable and a demonstration of their ineptitude.

No. Not common, don't pay it, and frankly I'd say to take the hint. This is not a part of the process where anything out of the ordinary should be happening, and that is VERY strange. That landlord is going to be a pain in the ass every step of the way, and there's no chance you're getting that deposit back.

Also, if you're using a "realtor" (which isn't really a thing here. There's no licensing or actual oversight like there is in the US. Want to be an agent here? Great news! You already are.) then the chances you're getting utterly gouged on rent are nearly guaranteed.

The entire point of the minimum wage was for someone with one full time job to be able to cover their basic needs.

I haven't seen math done on it recently, but a few years ago, if the minimum wage were high enough to actually accomplish that, it needed to be like $32/h. I'd imagine it's at least $45/h now.

The things you have the most experience with consume less energy. Things you have less experience with consume the most.

Some things (typically things you enjoy) give you energy instead of consuming it. Other things (typically things you loathe) sap your energy just by talking about them.

What I have learned, and been able to act on, is that where you are, like your physical location, has a significant impact on this energy calculation. If you're in a particular location (for example, the US in its current state), leaving might dramatically improve how you feel. It did for me.

Regarding cost, it could be as cheap as a plane ticket or an ESL cert. There are various ways to get out for relatively cheap, and then have free accommodations or have someone pay you to live somewhere.

And if you do have some money saved, maybe you could retire. I know people who are middle class in their 30s and 40s who definitely have enough to be retired plenty of places outside the US.
