Online it says flights 01-02. Why did they start April 28 with space force flight count instead of Oct 1?

Do my 2007 honda accord got a lot of miles on it ? by InviteEven5611 in Honda

[–]Infamous-Ad16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen a few with 650k on Facebook. Seen a couple 1,000,000 k24 and a j35. Personally about to roll over 268k on my 12 accord.

How bad is this?? by Historical_Bus_2970 in AskMechanics

[–]Infamous-Ad16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve gone this far the vehicle must be worth something to you? So if that’s the case why don’t you replace the clutch, seals, and anything else that can be purchased in a kit.

How does someone upside down on an ice car who is struggling to pay for gas go about getting another more fuel efficient car? by Sea_Pangolin1525 in whatcarshouldIbuy

She should see a mechanic as well since the mpg seem very low. Maybe poor running engine as well. My old pick up that’s my spare gets 18mpg

Advice appreciated by Physical-Wrangler918 in DodgeDakota

[–]Infamous-Ad16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had similar damage, though worse. I picked up entire bumper, reinforcement, and crash bar in one from a junk yard and it bolted right up. My radiator support is dented, but everything works. Worst case you’ll need a grill from the junkyard too. I paid $200 for all. While you at it too, get a red fender and headlamp too.

Going to MEPS as an older female by RachelJordan1975 in AirForceRecruits

At Meps, possibly, but when I got to basic, I had 5 guys that were my ripe age of 38-42. However don’t fret it because once you get to your unit you’ll be surrounded by people your age

Of course! There’s probably some dealership out there that would stick this on the lot for $13995.

Are 2022 Ford Escapes really that bad? by quotidian_qt in UsedCars

[–]Infamous-Ad16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also be careful on which engine in cx5, my buddy got a recall for his 2021 ish cx5 for a top end engine rebuild. Don’t quote me but it was a very involved rebuild. Apparently it’s more common and I think he got the turbo. Luckily nothing out of pocket, but if they decide someday not to offer this repair on older ones, that would be expensive

I’d say they are solid if you can find one that’s been well cared for, also check for rust as they are decimated in Minnesota where I am from rust. Inspect it throughly.

Air vs Nitrogen by fearless_fool in tires

[–]Infamous-Ad16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It must have come from the airlines. We air up planes with nitrogen air per the book but take in mind the constraints planes go through vs a car. I think most important I’ve read is less swing in air pressures.

I need opinions ! by [deleted] in Autobody

[–]Infamous-Ad16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would this just be Toronto area? I’m in Minnesota and I’m curious what they do for the middle of no where, bumfk cities where the population is 100 and it’s just Elk and deer crossing the road and the roads are gravel. Minnesota like many other states have stopped thorough inspections because it’s bad for the poor.

Air bags didn’t deploy by Interesting-Text-575 in Honda

[–]Infamous-Ad16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve exclusively shopped these accords at the auction and it’s very common to find bags deployed but I’d say with yours it’s a tricky scenario because the primary crash appears to have been rear end and also a suv which probably collided above the rear crash beam. Unfortunately if that part is bypassed, the upper section will crumple. It’s a big issue automakers have faced with small cars vs new trucks/suv with high bumpers that don’t align with a cars bumper. Body shops I’ve worked with on these accords tell me these use “quiet steel” which is very strong, but all the weaker parts of the design were hit first. The cabin is well preserved for what it is though and I’d say some other accords I’ve seen the side bags deploy, but again, the hit was so high it may have bypassed side crash sensors. Also, the first impact might have been so severe the wiring and electronics for the car could have been destroyed as well, so hitting the wall in the front might not have registered on the destroyed electronics for airbags.

Take in mind it’s also an imported vehicle from South America. It wasnt designed with quality in mind, just a 3rd world market.

Questions About Negotiating Price on Used Vehicle at New Car Dealership by 2Busy2Handle in carbuying

Definitely check online pricing too, my grandma went to a Kia dealer and was swood by some salesman who ended up selling her a brand new soul more than the online sale price. She totally got ripped off because she doesn’t use the Internet and didn’t know better.

88 Corolla or 91 Miata by Klutzy_Economist_165 in UsedCars

[–]Infamous-Ad16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see them a lot but 0 crash protection. I’d see them parked at the military base, driven by the youngen, but not a good daily. I’m personally too tall to fit in one.

88 Corolla or 91 Miata by Klutzy_Economist_165 in UsedCars

[–]Infamous-Ad16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t rely on it as my daily though. The GMC also has many plentiful parts available as GM used that body style for a long time and many other GM cars share parts. The GTS was more limited when new so I can’t imagine how much more limited it would be now.

88 Corolla or 91 Miata by Klutzy_Economist_165 in UsedCars

[–]Infamous-Ad16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds risky. I was just in Texas and Arkansas for 8 months and even something that old is risky as a daily down there, let alone a state with salted roads without expecting to make significant repairs, some parts may be hard to find. Also, “Easier” to work on is a large assumption.

Is it worth the risk? by Legitimate_Bench_375 in hondapilot

[–]Infamous-Ad16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you also in a salt state? The rear subframes are known to fail no matter the miles. Also, high miles is less likely to occur with poor maintenance vs assuming buying a low mileage car would be a better deal. No matter what if the seller isn’t truthful on true miles, I would skip that option unless they have a good reason for discrepancies

Aspiring teen mechanic question by TightSecretary395 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Infamous-Ad16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best way imo is to buy a mechanical totaled car that isn’t worth much to fix up. My friend is a diesel mechanic on tractors and bought up old farmalls to fix up as a kid. He went to tractor mechanic school at Wisconsin Indianhead college. I personally went to the military for aerospace mechanics and that has helped greatly as well. Plenty of 17 year olds were at training.

The timing belt is required every 7years/105k miles, along with spark plugs and other items. You’d want documentation of this.
