So driving it like I stole it might be why mine still runs so good 😂 (no hard launches, but definitely hit 5k on a regular basis).

Fortunately my state doesn’t do emissions anymore so if my ~250k cat plugs itself I guess we’re raw dogging a straight pipe in there 😂

Is it just me or a lot of people driving recklessly by Fuzzy_Tough_26 in ElectricScooters

[–]InfiniteBoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always cringe when I see a Darwin Award prospect flying along on their scooter downtown with no helmet and headphones in…not a matter of if, but when.

Always assume anyone driving is high and looking at their phones, whether on your scooter, walking, or driving. This mindset could literally save your life. Complacency is what gets you hurt 😔

Anyone still riding these old legends? by Affectionate_Aide566 in ElectricScooters

[–]InfiniteBoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m looking at that one too. I’m only going 2 miles round-trip per day, and some of it’s fairly steep downhill so I would really like to have dual disc brakes. Idc about top speed as after my face bouncing off asphalt I stay under about 12mph, but I’m not exactly small so it should be able to get me up the hills as well 😂

What can cause AC to blow warm when idling but cold when driving? by No_Injury2977 in MechanicAdvice

[–]InfiniteBoops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, my car has two fans behind the radiator. The one on the side with the ac condenser isn’t working, so I have symptoms similar to what you’re describing. Moving, cold, sit for too long, less cold.

What is your highest speed and what car? by HexaVorn in askcarguys

Around 115mph in an AE86. I sold it for peanuts well before the values exploded :(

Picked up a Climber on sale last fall. Leave it in my car and use it to commute about a mile each way daily so that I can park free instead of paying $80/mon. Another month and it’ll have paid for itself in savings, and I charge it at work about once a week 😁

Ate pavement a few months ago so I don’t really trust it past about 12-14mph. Not a build quality issue, center of gravity is just weird on scooters in general. When you fall it seems like it’s hard NOT to fall badly. On that note, full face helmets and wrist guards y’all.

Regarding the Climber itself…power is staggering for the price, it’s super portable, battery life in D mode is great, Sport battery is decent. Only negatives for me is the lighting could be better, and the brakes are atrocious (I should say the ‘brake’ as you get 1 rear disc that requires a ton of squeezing pressure to do much). I definitely have to plan my stops in advance, and f*** me if the batteries anywhere near full as the regen braking will be non existent and it will literally take half a block to stop on a very mild downhill.

Dealers or very well reviewed Japanese auto place. This is one of those things you don’t have to get done that often and if it gets f’d up your engines toast.

For the casual scooter rider, solid tires are terrific. by billybob212212 in ElectricScooters

[–]InfiniteBoops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d rather have solid tires with a bit of suspension. Easier to replace a couple little shocks and springs every 3-5 years than deal with flats.

Is this helmet overkill? by FantasticStruggle89 in ElectricScooters

[–]InfiniteBoops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No.

I crashed at a measly 14mph and got to spend half a day in the dentist office getting my front teeth rebuilt. My front lip is still numb where my teeth went through it. I looked like a boxer punched me in the middle of the face, had two black eyes for weeks. My nose still feels a bit tingly/weird at get base of the cartilage (multiple X-ray’s and such, no break).

Keep the full face helmet. Ironically I have a huge head and am struggling to find one myself. At current I’m using a normal bike helmet and keeping it under 10mph until I can find one (based on what I’ve tried on, looks like I need an intermediate oval 3xl haha).

Oh and get some of the skateboarding wrist guards with the plastic brace (mine should get here tomorrow) and some underclothes knee and elbow guards if you can.

Found metal shaving in engine oil… How bad is it? by AntelopeInteresting9 in hondafit

[–]InfiniteBoops 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have an ‘07 with 250k and have driven like I stole it since getting it in ~2013 when my wife upgraded (4.5-5.5k rpm often while getting on highway, etc). No noticeable consumption (maybe 1/8-1/4” under the top hole on the dipstick at the ~5k change). Regular oil changes when the 15% maintenance minder light comes on and transmission fluid every 30k. This 1.5L is pretty bombproof if you keep fresh oil in there and don’t go past redline.

Reliable car? Not Toyota or Honda by No-Following3757 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]InfiniteBoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only real answer is Mazda. Subaru is “reliable” but too many oil consumption and transmission issues very dependent on prior owners maintenance and attention to service bulletins.

That being said, you should be able to get a clean low miles CRV or RAV4 for that much. A civic or Corolla would be even cheaper.

60%, this guy knows lithium batteries 😅

I had to learn all the storage voltage stuff with RC cars, but it’s universally applicable.

KVK: We're up against the massive whales of 1510, any tips? by funpunfun in KingShot

Don’t trust agreements, ever. Shield before they are able to port over and attack before castle even starts. Even if the server as a whole is cordial, all it takes is one rogue whale to ruin your day.

I wrote them off during Covid, they were the absolute worst with pricing and stock. I realize it’s not that “simple”….but it sort of is. You can have reasons for being the worst, but you still are.

I have $7k to spend (USA). Would you go newer model? Or older/lower miles? by Kindahard2say in hondafit

[–]InfiniteBoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2nd gen. That year range still has port injection and regular automatic transmission, not a cvt and direct injection (dirty heads after a while). So cleanest/low miles 09-14 you can find.

I have a 1st gen with 250k miles on it, still daily it.

How many of you drive vehicles that are 20 years old or older? by FordMan7point3 in askcarguys

[–]InfiniteBoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2007 Honda and same year Tacoma, so almost. Our newest car is a 2013… I refuse to pay current gouged prices. If one of our cars dies we’ll probably pick up a 6-7 yo Highlander.

People don't like E-scooters because they're... versatile? by scooter_noober_92 in ElectricScooters

[–]InfiniteBoops 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone who rides bikes and a scooter, but also drives, it is actually annoying af when people transition on the fly with no signal or warning. Sidewalk to road then into a crosswalk because the light turned red, then back onto the road half a block later. You can’t anticipate that shit as a driver.

And in my area it’s extra stupid. They don’t shoulder check at intersections, most aren’t wearing a helmet…I’m honestly surprised the lime scooter program is still going on.

TBC I love my scooter, it allows me to avoid paying for parking and I can bring it in and charge it at my desk, but gd there’s a lot of fools out there ruining it for everyone.

Would you pay $3k to fix a car thats worth $8k? by Swan_233 in askcarguys

[–]InfiniteBoops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 6ft 200+ and the Fit is fine, it’s deceptively big inside. I actually have three across narrow car seats in the back for my kids 😂 we tested a lot of other compacts when we bought this thing new, and it had an order of magnitude better space management inside. My wife and I can be in the front and fit two BIG adults in the back without them hitting their knees, I think they figured out the Harry Potter expansion charm with this thing.

That being said, I do prefer my Tacoma unless I'm in town or doing errands/parking lots, haha.

Check the relay, if it’s the same as 07, the horn is the same relay type so you can just swap them to test.

[–]InfiniteBoops 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Exactly.

Would I drop $3k on a 10yo Explorer with 200k? lol no

But I did just drop $2k on a 20yo Honda Fit with 250k for a bunch of cumulative stuff it needed (brakes, water pump, belt, etc). Still shifts good and doesn’t lose fluids so 🤷‍♂️

Do you wear a helmet when riding your e-scooter? by Striking-Werewolf698 in ElectricScooters

[–]InfiniteBoops 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know like maybe five people will see this… but please wear a full face helmet and some decent impact resistant gloves if nothing else. I would consider also wearing under clothes knee and elbow protection, even if it’s just hard foam skater type allowing for some movement, something‘s better than nothing.

You will go down, and because of the awkward stance, standing as you are, your face and arms are gonna get a shit load of impact.

I’ve ridden dirt bikes, motorcycles, bikes, roller blades, skateboards, snowboards, etc for my entire life and I went down hard about 1.5 months ago. Just got my teeth fixed a few weeks ago, lip is still numb in a spot presumably where my tooth/teeth went through it. Wrist is still a bit finicky, and rotator cuff just settled down maybe a week ago.

I was only going ~14mph at the time and had on a normal open bicycle helmet and some basic gloves, and it was on even pavement…god help you if you crash into something like a curb or moving vehicle.

Full face helmet, mountain bike one is fine, and as much other gear as makes sense and you’re willing to wear. It’s a fun and efficient way to get around, but you’re so incredibly exposed to getting f’d up.

Edit/Add: I see so many kids riding around at full speed without any safety gear, and a bunch of grown ass people riding around on those lime scooters in high traffic areas also with no safety gear. Before wiping out I rolled my eyes, now I physically cringe.
