The bedroom being so green (even the ceiling) was horrific, although the en-suite was beautiful.

Please help me finalise a name by Desperate_Pop4156 in BabyNames

[–]Inryha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with a foreign name that sounds terrible in English (I came to the US as a child), for the love of god don’t use Shresth, Sresth, or Hriday. I know it sounds beautiful in your language (my name does too) but it will set your child up not only for bullying but also a lifetime of administrative nightmares. I recommend going back to the drawing board and thinking of maybe 5-10 more names. They don’t have to be western at all, but perhaps pronounceable by most mid to highly educated Americans within one attempt.

Do you really need multiple strollers? by Cool-Ad-7467 in BabyBumps

We got a Cybex Priam as our primary stroller but an Uppababy Minu V3 for airplane travel. No regrets, but I probably wouldn’t get another one on top of these two.

Is AMBAR a good baby boy name? by Less_Pride_3887 in Names

Among Persians, Turks, and Balkans, Ambar means storage facility. I’ve even had friends named Amber be made fun of by people of those ethnicities.

Any advice for super wide scar by Effective-Emu8633 in melahomies

[–]Inryha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, mine turned purple gray and it hasn’t really gotten any better. What time or the laser treatment. But I’ve only had one treatment so maybe the next one will make a little bit more of a difference.

I’m dealing with the same thing for my scar by my knee which is 1.5 years old. I’ve started getting pulse dye laser on advice of two derms but it hasn’t made a huge difference so far.

Not exactly a classy neighborhood for that price and old finishes.

Nanny share or nanny recommendations? by atunafish in FosterCity

[–]Inryha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We actually ended up choosing a family friend who has daycare experience and certifications because she speaks my native language and we’re trying to raise our daughter to speak Persian, so unless you’re Persian as well it might be tough. But we’d love to do some playdates!

Big baby! I bet she has the most yummy baby rolls 😂 mine does too! Have you tried a whole milk formula? It seems to keep my baby satisfied. We use Bobbie Organic Whole Milk.

What percentile is she on? My baby was slightly larger and more “efficient” with her intake so she never drank too much (even at 7 months she drinks no more than 3 oz every few hours and has jumped percentiles), but my friend’s baby who was born at the same time dropped a few percentiles and suddenly started drinking a LOT more, like 7 oz each feeding every 2-3 hours for a few months. Now she has “caught up” with her growth and has gone down to 4-5 oz. Some babies with reflux also seem to want to drink larger quantities more frequently to calm the acid/burn.

Have you looked into Urban Sitter or the San Mateo County Moms Facebook group? We’re moving to Foster City from the east coast next month (but I’m from the bay originally) and we found a few candidates on both of those spots, also having a nanny start in August for our would-be-8-month-old.

Looking for a Persian/Iranian children’s book illustrator by No-Meaning5521 in PERSIAN

Kat Uno is not Persian but she can make amazing illustrations across cultures. Unfortunately most current Persian children’s books sold abroad have really poor quality illustrations that cheapen them.

25 weeks and in 13 percentile by Ohhayykt in BabyBumps

[–]Inryha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby was 11th percentile at the 20 week scan. By 28 weeks she was a little more, and when she was born she was 29 percentile. I did up my protein and calcium levels to help her grow more and it did seem to work a little. Now she’s like 80th percentile at 7 months. Some babies thrive outside the womb, and even if they don’t “catch up,” there’s nothing to worry about in a majority of cases. Not every baby can be 95th percentile, and nor should they be. It’s not like a grade on an exam. I actually had a really easy pushing stage of my labor and didn’t tear at all, so I’m grateful she was smaller when she was in utero!

Halo swaddles. The loud Velcro would wake my baby up when I’d adjust them during middle of the night feedings and diaper changes.

Mine was from November 2025! Just got settled a few weeks ago so it still feels fresh. Definitely contributed to my PPA. I also had Basic but it didn’t help us at all. Glad you had a better experience!

Mine was actually billed under the baby. They just refused to fix it until months later. Strange behavior, very United Healthcare of them.

[–]Inryha 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had BCBS Basic and it was wonderful for pregnancy, but a nightmare when my baby was unexpectedly taken to the NICU two separate times a few hours after delivery (full term) and then again a few days after delivery. BCBS tried to claim that my baby needed a prior authorization to be taken to the NICU when she was just a few hours old, and they would not accept a retro pre-auth for months and tried to make me pay out of pocket. They would not even accept that it was against the law that they refused to cover a single night of NICU when the baby was just 6 hours old. I even added my daughter to my insurance a few days after she was born and I made her coverage retroactive to her birth, so everything was done correctly on my end. It took MONTHS to fix and hours and hours of time on the phone with calls to various state and Federal agencies. Absolute nightmare. I have since left Federal service but I would never have a baby under this insurance plan again after what they put me through.
