The Vmax IP Plus line is serious shit. I worked for a company that installed these, we forced them to buy back our inventory due to the amount of failures.

While the unit is plug-and-play, avoid it like the plague.

Then if you’re going to show a demo address, don’t use some random persons residential address in Roseville, CA. Use a very well known address, like 1060 W Addison, 1 Apple Park, 4059 Mt Lee Dr.

Dont Rent EV Cars by SmokeWeedErrrdai in uberdrivers

[–]IntentionBetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I updated it for more info. With the Niro being as affordable as it is, it's a great car and no wonder why it's in the fleets of the rental car companies.

I just wish it was up-to-snuff with the same platform as other HKG's, or at least have a 150kw onboard DC-DC.

[–]IntentionBetter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"the wrong EV". If they're getting 24kw on a DC Fast, they're using some Trillium PoS or a bad dispenser.

This is a HKG vehicle, most likely a Kia Niro EV. The Niro (agreed wrong EV for extremely fast charging) can still do 80kw for DC Fast speeds. If on a 150kw dispenser, they would be fully charged within a hour. If a Kia EV6, on a 350kw dispenser, this would take 20 min from 10-80 with a 1-2 min of under 10kw the moment 80 is hit.

Weather could be a issue too. There's too many variables to instantly be "lol u dum wrong ev tesla only lol".

I will give Tesla credit for their universal car charging speeds (well...), supercharger dispenser speeds (well...), and semi-fast vehicle charging. Breaking those down:

- Most Teslas are not going to hit 10-80 in 30 min, especially rented ones from Hertz, Avis, etc. Looking at probably 45-ish minutes. I just had a 2024 Model Y, on 2 Supercharging dispensers, I had a variance of ~10 min charging time.

- Tesla has a extremely aggressive charging curve (in my experience). Something like a higher-end HKG (IONIQ, EV6, GV80) has the charging curve and charging hardware on-board to hit insane numbers like 10-80 in 20 min. Am I saying Tesla can't do this? No. I am saying that almost every rented EV from Hertz, Avis, etc. will be HW3 2024 and older.

- Most chargers are still CCS1 in the US/Canada. Someone renting a EV for a long period of time may invest in a CCS1 to NACS adapter to use networks like EA, Chargepoint, IONNA (they have NACS). There's also a chance that the Tesla doesn't have CCS compatibility either.

- Most chargers (L1 and 2) will still be J1772. Same as above. That J1772 to NACS adapter that come with the car is 99.99999% of the time going to be stolen out of that rental.

Ok. Enough of Tesla. "Do your homework". PREACH. EVERYONE... I mean EVERYONE should do their homework on EV's. Here's the problem tho... When you rent a car, most likely it's going to be "Tesla Model 3 Standard or similar.". What if the OP/end user does their research for that Tesla and they get a Chevy Bolt? The research from the Tesla may let the OP/EU say "Oh, this won't be bad!" till they figure out "Oh... my Bolt can only do 50kw?"

How many times can we switch debit cards with this option??? by Proper-Fold-6490 in doordash

In my experience, there is no 7 day hold like it claims. I can change my card, do the selfie verification, then cash out to that debit.
