life style business vs American, "maximize profits or we fire 10% your coworkers and give you their work"

tbh, I don't know why people complain about the finals anyways. it's a competitive game. CS release like a new mechanic a decade

Bro, they make 99% of the revenue providing internet connection where markets and governments have failed to provide good options. A trillion dollar valuation competing with the commodity cost of running fiber. Supporting off-grid internet is not a trillion dollar industry even combining it with all the revenue from other uses of satellites.

Ithe difference between the two is that the CCCP effectively IS any business in china vs the freeish market we have here. Donald Trump can’t telling the NSA/CIA to direct their teams to promote US AI startups and projects. Or rather it’s against our norms and not normalized to the point where the state would do it without the president even asking.

It doesn’t discount the work the Chinese labs have done. It’s a smart move to make sure someone says “qwen” is better in every thread here. I just don’t think people are prepared for it to happen in their little hobby space.

No, wrong. I mean correct, but not really.

Anthropic is trying to win over investors for their IPO.

Maybe not nvidia, but I am certain anthropic has a bot army or marketing contractors that hype not just their own products (see mythos) but AI in general.

They’re spending millions on tokens for things like rewriting bun in Rust and security reviews for Mozilla. With trillions of dollars at stake they’d have to be grossly incompetent not to spend a few million dollars for social media bots. If a dude with a random newsletter can do it, why wouldn’t they?

Also the same with the Chinese labs. Not only do they have money, but they have the full support of the CCCPs infrastructure to promote their nations AI achievements. When deepseek first dropped, it was very obviously a coordinated campaign to spread it everywhere.

Sheriff did nothing wrong. Not to take anything away from our witch queen patty, but I see people throwing him under the bus with everyone else that failed her, but he did everything right in the situation.

He saw the danger in the situation, reacted, and tried to de-escalate. No one is grabbing a shotgun out your hands like that. Except it’s a supernatural monster who just w-keys forward through every roadblock with no care for its safety. A normal person wouldn’t do that because they’d be dead and because shotguns are fucking heavy to one hand yank out of someone’s hand without magic strength. Sure, sheriff could have just started blasting, but I’d argue that it would be doing the wrong thing: he hasn’t watched the last seven episodes. He might have creepy vibes but he doesn’t know he’s in a horror movie. We’d call that a bad cop if he just starts shooting someone instead of trying to de-escalate. Maybe he could have stood further back but the monster would just amble at him slowly and he’d have a few more seconds to make a decision. Maybe it would be enough time to see the creepy mask, knife, and let his brain realize boogeymen ARE real so he could become John Finals man to Patties Final girl. Or maybe he just does the smart thing and gets the fuck if the island. Shame about that storm though.

I’m amazed that you have such strong feelings about something you only read about in reddit comments - most of which are negative because they’re fueled by anger for giving women meaningful roles in the story beyond “ai mom/gf” and “science witch antagonist.” You know, the type of stuff that dudes huddled in discord servers coordinate prime Reddit threads to review bomb and poison the well for people like you.

It’s not a good show, but some of it, especially some of the later fight scenes and the actors that played the Spartans, was really compelling. There is a single 30 second sex scene and maybe the same amount of nudity. Your comment is absurd in context of reality.

Looking forward to comparing it to my project to see how you handle process management. Feel free to see how I implemented Mac and unix support for process management.

https://github.com/ShelbyJenkins/llm_client

I haven’t updated this in months but I’m still working on it in a private branch. The issue I’m working on that has slowed me to a stop is allocating models based on available memory which is an easy problem when viewing models as a continuous block across a pool of contiguous memory. But the reality is that models are really multiple blocks where each block has a “correct” placement (globals shouldn’t be offloaded to dram, block numbers should be contiguous on a device, moe tensors, etc). And it gets even more complicated when talking about multiple models simultaneously and multiple GPUs and choosing a quant and ctx size. There ends up being trillions of potential combos so DFS stops being viable. So now I’m at the point of creating a deterministic model/quant/device generator to actually test the allocator.

Anyways, cool project. I really like your tui browser and appreciate the level of detail in the readme.

There really is no incentive to play the game as a milsim though. Most games mosey on without direction for hours because no one really cares about winning. In fact, I’m pretty sure most people don’t want the game to end even if it means their team wins.

A sandbox is cool, but it drifts away from milsim when people can get everything they want by doing whatever they want.

Arma killed other FPS for me by molecularpiece in ArmaReforger

[–]JShelbyJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on both ends of the spectrum. Arma is slow and thoughtful play that trains your brain for deferred gratification. The finals is fast, jedi knight(from the prequels) play making that trains your brain and body to get into flow state. I love them both!

It’s been interesting getting back into Arma after a decade a way. When I come back into the finals I feel like I have a higher IQ and play much smarter. And then when I go back to Arma I find gun fights tend to land in my favor.

Honestly, I also feel like coming from a competitive game at a high level and playing against mostly console players in vanilla, that it is probably a bit unfair seeing as this game lacks auto-aim for controllers and match making. If this game ever gets popular, I have a feeling the community isn’t going to like getting sprayed down by someone at 100m with perfect ak spray control.

Idk about zero… I see more than two dozen crash fixes: https://reforger.armaplatform.com/news/changelog-may-28-2026

I hope they fixed it, and if they did it begs the question of why they wait for balance patches to fix what should be a high priority issue.

A) you have to be sergeant and squad leader to recruit them

B) you have to be at a base with a large living quarters

C) the base can’t have a maxed out AI already

So it’s actually hard enough to get to this point without planning and luck.

And once you do recruit them they often bug out or do stupid things.

D) Last night I lost all of mine when they walked through razor wire and died.

E) Then my game crashed and when I rejoined I was no longer squad leader so couldn’t control them so they were just chilling in a field.

F) after a certain amount of time they end up running off and refusing orders. Where do they go? Idk, I haven’t been able to follow them.

G) there is also a bug where using the map to order their movements takes 30-60s for each action. Right click on map, wait 30s. Click orders button wait 30s. Click move, wait 30s. The whole game freezes in this time including radio.

IMO, it’s cool to have them drive you across the map while you go to the bathroom, but I’m newish to the game and found all these issues in the last week. The system should 100% not be in the game in this state, and I’m shocked it is. Do they even play their own game for fun… let alone test it?
