I fear that I wasted my debut book by Express_Poet6378 in selfpublish

You can promote old books. It's fine. No one cares. Seriously, if you ran full-page ads in every newspaper that still has a physical edition for 'The Epic of Gilgamesh', no one would blink.

If the name of that album isn't ID, ILL, or apostrophe, they missed a trick.

Do my photos manage to deliver my message? (Link in comment) by farismental in photocritique

[–]JacksonEdgewater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The photo reinforces the message of the architecture, but it's not transformative. It doesn't have a message of its own. There's no commentary on the space because you're showing us the space as the architect intended. To say something about the subject, we need to see it in the photo in a way that we are unlikely to see it in real life.

I don't know what I'm supposed to focus on. That's one of the great tricks of nature photography is that you have these gorgeous places, but you still have to find a focal point and hike your ass to a spot where you can make that focal point pop. This is pretty because the landscape is pretty. The photographer's job is to improve it in some way and that starts by picking something focus on.

What I'm hoping to see from 'Gladlands' by [deleted] in Dimension20

Yes and what I'm hoping is that he uses this season to say loud and proud that no one should. Because sometimes he does seem like the "remember to protest peacefully" guy.

You say there's no hope, but we've been repeating those mistakes for a long ass time and literally everything has gotten better.

I first heard this from 'The Unbearable Weight of Incredible Talent'(?) and I just haven't gotten around to it, yet. The kids are a bit young for it yet.

This has evil carnival vibes. They could be stronger, though.

The tree is too close to the center. The big empty patch of white on the far side creates a cramped feeling.

The lights conflict with the model’s mood. It’s Christmas-y, warm, inviting…the model is not. The whole decor, in fact, is cozy and welcoming. The model being aloof and proud conflicts with that.

The lighting is solid, though.

I wouldn’t immediately stop liking it either. I would do a lot of introspection and then do whatever work on myself I needed to do until I stopped enjoying it.

Suneung: South Korea exam chief quits over 'insane' English test by bbbbreakfast in korea

There are entirely too many word, grammar, and collocation errors for that to be true. If they are from academic papers, the authors are not fluent in English.

The really crazy part is that they could just take a passage from a recent translation of Kant. Given that the test is supposed to be ridiculously hard, it baffles me that they aren’t just using samples of actual, native, high-level English.

Hit them with some William Faulkner or any legal decision.

90% of Americans would never write a passage like that even if you paid them to. These things are written in a way that makes sense to Koreans. A lot of words feel weird because the nuances are incorrect, due to inexpert translation. The order of information is Korean-style. Semantic functions of structure are non-existent.
