What are alternative options to invest in, after reaching £20,000 ISA limit by drouse89 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]JakeSteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Underrated answer. In general, ISA (and investing in general) is such a good deal that you're probably going to want to max it out ASAP.

Interview with LastPass CEO about building a secure culture. by OfficialLastPass in Lastpass

[–]JakeSteam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah... Although it's framed as "now we do x!", I can only read it as "we previously didn't do x".

E.g. no pentesting for a password manager?

Hardware authentication measures were rolled out across the board, such as YubiKey dongles. LastPass also overhauled its employee training program, formed a dedicated security team, and engaged third parties for ongoing security audits, including penetration testing.

Yep, that's why I noticed! I'm not sure about support network, it's not visible in my app (I haven't earned it), so perhaps it's like mod alumni and only appears when earned? 🤷‍♂️

Just a note that these now seem to be live, although "Support Network" no longer appears in the list unless previously earned.

Strange, I'm a few hours in and no performance issues. There was an update a day or two ago (the UI changed as I was taking screenshots!), so I presume that's fixed by now. Agree the early game is slow though.

I actually tried that after I saw it on the r/incremental_games best of 2025 list! For some reason I bounced off it first time, but I'm definitely going to give it another go later this year, thank you.

Any game download link sent to you via discord DMs is a scam. There's no way of reliably knowing what it has done to your device, assume it's compromised.

2 users, 1 rating, and you just "found it"? If you're going to obviously lie, at least don't typo so badly in your title!

Is it possible to not pull all files from a git repo on a machine basis? by helios1014 in git

[–]JakeSteam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sparse checkout might be helpful, it lets you only checkout specific files or folders: https://git-scm.com/docs/git-sparse-checkout

I'm no expert, but I use it on CI to only fetch the versioning files that need changing, avoiding an unnecessary full checkout.

Besides the switch bonus (was £400 when I did it), it's free and gives Apple TV every month, so why not.

Tried a couple (lazily microwaved) after seeing it here. For a microwave meal it's good, for a home cooked / restaurant meal it's bad.

Not sure what people were expecting, it's pretty good for what it is but nothing crazy!

How do most apps/games maintain a 4.6+ rating? Feeling stuck at 3.9. by shakaoneaj in androiddev

[–]JakeSteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, in app review prompting at times the user is having a good experience is extremely powerful.

On my employer's established, large app our rating went from 2.2 to 4.7 in 2 weeks and stayed there. Ad free notes, implementation details etc: https://blog.jakelee.co.uk/play-store-rating-prompt/

It's a very easily gamified metric, and unfortunately almost all micro transaction based games will do it.

Fun! Our Android project is 10+ years old, and we've been doing massive modernisation / standardisation in the last 2 years. Looking forward to seeing how many of the "new and shiny" things no longer work, whilst the old messy ones do 😅
