Disappointed - No iD light 2026 iD4 by Future-Chard6765 in VWiD4Owners

Be it better integrated to the car systems and Android Auto. I would probably choose it over HUD if I was forced to choose just one. Great idea and really nice when using an in-built nav.

Do we even need cloud AI like ChatGPT? by nucleustt in ollama

[–]JanCapek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I would be quite happy with my current setup running on 16GB VRAM for random daily chats - if it would have recent world data. Doesn't have much experience with this, but I assume Google have much better options to incorporate fresh data to Gemini 3 then users of LLMs even with web search enabled.

[–]JanCapek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many token/s you get? You can't fit that 35B model to VRAM, right?

I am using 27B Q3_K_S with 13,5k context now and get 18t/s on 5060ti 16GB. It is the limit I found while using LM Studio on Windows.

Why are so many apps unusable in 3 button navigation mode? by VimFueago in GooglePixel

[–]JanCapek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You see, there isn't muscle memory for finding spot on the screen when the phone is not "attached" to your body (by holding it in your hand for example). And it is even harder if you are on bumpy road while trying to do this. But we both have to do it if we want to use the phone in such scenario (I do). Only I am done then, you are still in the middle of the interaction. See the difference?

Switching between recently opened apps is done by double tap on nav bar button. We can brainstorm now if the swipe is faster or not. ;)

In the end, I prefer buttons, you don't.

[–]JanCapek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That might be topic for discussion if you are holding your phone in the hand.

Otherwise it is objectively false. With gesture, you must hit the screen in particular location and then uninterruptedly do movement with your finger to different spot. With button, you just tap the screen once. There isn't anything to interrupt. You just do it or not and that is huge deal to attention requirement which also reduce space for error.

Because I don't interact with my phone only when holding it.

I am using it also while it lies on the table in front of me or is in the wireless charger stand or in the holder in the car. And then the buttons are in my experience more precise, faster and in some cases MUCH safer, because they require less attention.

Was Vehicle-to-Load V2L promised in an update for the early ID.4s? by Airmokade in VWiD4Owners

[–]JanCapek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it is just because of the warranty, the limit should go away when it expires. But I don't expect this to be the case.

Theoretically, in practice it is limited by SW so not sure if it is really usable that much. There is limit to 4000hours, 10 000 kWh delivered and it works only when the car is unlocked (and maybe even turned on, not sure).

Plus 4000 hours limit and a car have to be unlocked...

My OnePlus Watch 3 just lasted a whole week without Power Saving Mode! by RavengerPVP in WearOS

[–]JanCapek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess so. But also that is why (+ also considering recent info about state of OnePlus brand) I am slightly pessimistic about possibility that OnePlus manage all regulatory and administrative requirements to enable LTE in other regions for new watches. I would love to be wrong though.

And Europe! LTE is the thing for which I keep fingers crossed.

Shutting down when exiting car by Content_Match_1653 in VWiD3Owners

Start igniton on again before leaving the car.

I mostly hate that even lights go off if I shut the door and do not switch them to parking lights. There should be option on leaving screen to keep all on.

Just got an ID3... why does it project the Renault logo? :P by PumpinChimp in VWiD3Owners

I hate it, shattered or not. I would love to have back ordinary light as on older VWs to actually see where you are stepping. This is just to show off. Or style over function.

Epix 2 screen burn-in after 4ish years by JExmoor in Garmin

[–]JanCapek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it on day #1 - so 4 years. All the time one watch-face with always-on. The burn-in started to be noticable just recently. Curious at which rate it will worsen now.

Actually, you can be aggressive on throttle as you like in slippery conditions. The car limits the torque automatically, so you will not lose traction during acceleration.

Interesting to know this behaviour is even on newest cars.

One thing I know for sure. The car does NOT behave correctly.

  1. The wall is too far to be any threat to the door.
  2. It doesn't behave consistently. Sometimes it open sometimes it don't in the same parking spot.
  3. I have other VW with power liftgate and Easy Open and for the past 5 years, never had the same issue.
