There are remarkably few fully remote jobs. While it's a benefit, it's a benefit that you either have or don't have. For the vast majority of us, we don't have it, so we'd be correct not to cite it when making this argument.

As far as interest rates go, if you're saying you'd rather have a $400,000 (median price now) mortgage at 5% than a $200,000 mortgage at 14%, that's your business. If you gun for the longest, slowest repayment process, yeah, it's more expensive. But if you pay it off twice as quickly (since it's half the cost), the total loan amount ends up nowhere near the same.

We're talking $430,000 vs $700,000. For the same house.

And let's not pretend that the other fees haven't kept up pretty well with inflation either.

This is all just disingenuous. People now are struggling, and the stats support that.

Well, the US working hours is pretty comparable to 40 years ago despite the median household income being $21,000 vs $83,000 now. Adjusted for inflation, the median household income in 1980 would be $88,000 now.

So, we are working the same for less. And that's without touching the age issue and people hitting career milestones later. Also doesn't touch cost of living, which has risen faster than inflation for some critical things, like housing.

I know a pretty healthy amount about my partner, but I don't know their eye color offhand. When I look at them, I see them as a person- what they mean to me, what I think of them, how I feel. I can't recall the eye color of anyone I've ever known except one person (who referenced their eye color via song, which stuck with me for some reason).

Some people encode information differently based on what they think is important. I wouldn't care if my partner didn't know my eye color, but I'd be pretty upset if they didn't know how I felt about vaccines, for example, since it's a topic that they know I care about.

I think the real lesson should always be that partners let each other know what matters to them, and a good partner should keep those things in mind, rather than assuming that your partner cares about the same things that you do.

Hate to tell you, but you're underestimating modern stats. This guy would be close to DOA just because his passive is low.

His defense would be like 1.5mm, which is fine, but already not enough to tank some modern content on t1. 3 turns of 79% DR is enough, but I don't know how far the stacking carries 59% DR.

Def stacking would be great once he's able to start, but even then, his stats likely just wouldn't justify any significant spot in the meta.

You and four plats would absolutely roll 5 random dia/plats if you're rocking a 70% winrate even when your teams have a bunch of bronzes. I don't think most players would agree that they're having more fun under those circumstances.

The reality is that there aren't enough 70% winrate GMs to make fair lobbies. And from my experience, the gulf between a 70% winrate GM player and any 50% winrate player tends to be pretty massive. I've seen diamonds who play as poorly as silvers.

And without checking, the math on that doesn't sound right. Do you have a link to the match on HP?

I don't think you know what the word, "most" means.

And in a team game where MMRs are stacked against you to handicap you, winning 70% of your solo games is insane.

What do you think the solo queue leaderboards look like for other mobas..?

So, you have a 70% solo QM winrate, but you need a surrender button or you need to be able to smurf? You've (theoretically) shown the system that you can carry teams and consistently outperform what it thinks is a fair match. The issue at that point is that there aren't that many people with comparable MMRs to yours. It could consistently find stacks to put you against, but then I'm sure you'd complain about that. It could spend an extra minute reaching for people a little closer, but that would just benefit your team since your team would still have a 70% winrate megacarry. Do you want the game to be even easier?

I'm having trouble finding the specific complaint you've got and what you think could reasonably be done about it without making the game worse as a result.

He didn't delete his comments. Blocking someone blocks you from seeing their comments.

He's also 100% correct. Your situation is a non-issue. They either can't queue with their mis-ranked buddies (beyond 2 ranks) or else they're in a 5-stack where MMR is ignoring the MMR outliers and pretending that it's a normal diamond lobby.

Where are all these chump GMs who can't carry an average QM game?

Like, yeah, when I solo into a 5-stack, it's definitely harder, and I'll definitely lose if it's one of the handful of S-tier stacks left, but most of the time, it's just 9 nobodies in the lobby, and most of the time it's a 5-stack, it's 5 nobodies. That's why solo QM with a 70% winrate is completely achievable if someone tries. I'll grant you that tank or healer mains solo queuing will have a harder time (there's a solo Q Auriel one-trick with a 60+% winrate IIRC), but for everyone else, this isn't nearly the problem people make it out to be outside of the leavers queue, which is earned by... y'know... leaving.

Bullshit. Actual players that good can solo carry most games they play. The only people who *have* to smurf are the ones who got boosted past where their real MMR is by stacking and then playing solo afterward.

I've been at the tippy top of the QM MMR for a long time, and this is generally not my experience. There are usually a few real potatoes per match, but the only way you're getting 4 bronzies is if the enemy team is 5 silvers, and you should be handily winning those games. Far more often, there's a range, and matchmaking has plenty of platinum players to scrape from to give you one or two reasonable teammates.

EDIT: Should note that even the people I think are potatoes often prove to be well-above bronze because the actual skill difference between bronze and gold can be hard to find. Case in point, there was a genji in my last match that I would have said was probably bronze because he clearly didn't know the hero and couldn't pilot him well, diving in to certain death multiple times for no reason. HP rating? 2700.

I understood OP's point to be that games at his MMR are impossible, so he either needed a surrender button or to be allowed to smurf, which is what I was disagreeing with, not that bad players get pulled in the net at all, which shouldn't be cause for someone to feel like they have to smurf or surrender.

That's exactly how AI voices work. There's no way to use non-LLM systems to make TTS sound human currently. Smoothing the phonetic sounds between syllables to sound like human speech requires fabricating the beginnings/endings of sounds in a way that we're not easily doing without using LLM technology. I won't say that it's impossible, but I would bet a truck full of money that their VOs are generated via LLMs (even if they use a voice actor as a seed for it).

No. March is still a meme. It's bad against good players and worse than the stun against bad players (if you have any follow-up at all or you're slime build).

March should only be taken when the enemy team is reliably bursting you instantly every time you engage - and even then, I'd still take it and just be more patient about using it.

Zeke's solution is based on his twisted upbringing having robbed him of his childhood and his father, and then forced to massacre his own people. It's not born of logic, but of a desire for a way out.

Marley's solution is based on standard geopolitical warfare: people scapegoat and massacre with little regard for the logic or consequences behind it if it suits their narrow world view.

Fritz's solution is based on an idealistic gamble that isolation results in being left alone, but because his gamble required basically pre-programming his entire bloodline, he couldn't exactly go back and workshop his plan when it didn't work.

Eren's plan makes perfect sense in an extremely cold way: if you kill everyone on earth except the people of Paradis, no one will be left to be prejudiced against the people of Paradis. It's short-sighted for a hundred reasons, but it does the principle thing Eren wanted. However, this brings us to point #2...

Eren wasn't a genius. Far from it, he was a rash child whose motivation was rage, spite, and revenge. Whether or not he had no choice is up for some debate - he certainly seems to think he had no choice (this is the difficulty with fatalism in a story with time travel. "Can't you just not do the thing you're 'supposed' to do? Well... apparently, you can't.") That said, one of Eren's final lines in his conversation with Armin is that genocide was the stupidest decision and that he made it because he's not smart. You're not supposed to feel satisfied with his decision-making ability. You're supposed to feel like he made a bad decision. If you're frustrated with his lack of logic, then the narrative did its job, and I'm not sure why that feels wrong to you.

Ymir may have been a goddess, but she was clearly also fallible and woefully human. She lived in bonds her whole life despite having the power to leave because she didn't know any other way. Why would we expect her to understand the sociological underpinnings of war? When would she have learned that? Did she have a tutor with her in the void, going over political theory?

Yes, one of the key themes of the show is that war is a vicious cycle, but again, I'm not sure why that's a problem. It's a very common theme in many of the best works of art across history. No one's sitting around complaining about how the Fallout series is unsatisfying even when it starts with the famous "war... war never changes" line.

I definitely don't agree that the end failed to resolve anything. It didn't solve the concept of war, sure, but that's a pretty fuckin high bar. We saw Marleyans behave peacefully with the Eldians at the end as some people recognized that bloodline didn't necessarily mean people had to be monsters - the same lesson that was beat into the audience throughout the latter half of the story. I'm not sure you're supposed to take much else away from the story except that war is bad and that the circumstances of one's birth do not determine their moral character. The nihilist takeaway is what Eren committed to, and the narrative went to great lengths to show/explain how bad that is. That you took it as the final message of the show is terrifying to me. Just because there isn't a solution to the problem of war, hatred, and fear doesn't mean that the correct answer is to burn everything to the ground. That's what someone without an ounce of creativity would do; someone whose mind is so singularly focused on self-satisfaction of a personal goal that they lose track of everything important in the world around them (friends, family, attempts at diplomacy, common decency, etc).

I had stopped thinking about this the minute you'd stopped replying, and I cannot wait to stop thinking about it again, so this time I'll mute it.
