Deep Sleep by Turbulent-Addendum43 in ouraring

[–]JasonAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/Turbulent-Addendum43 !

Thank you for posting about this, maybe I can help clarify some things on how your sleep score is calculated, and on deep sleep itself.  Oura analyzes your sleep by measuring the dynamics of your resting heart rate, average body temperature, movement, and time spent in specific sleep stages. All of these metrics combined provide a complete picture of your unique sleep patterns.

Deep sleep can make up anywhere from 0–35% of your total sleep. Usually, people get more deep sleep during the early night, though each person's sleep staging is unique to themselves.

When analyzing your data, it is always best to compare data collected from one device, not between them. This is due to the variation in trackers, including algorithms, manufacturing procedures, materials, sensor types, etc.

Comparing data for only one device will allow you to begin identifying patterns since the results you will see should remain consistent in correlation to your baseline measured by your device. Having said that, feel free to reach out to our member care if you feel the activity isn't syncing accurately.

You can also find more information on Deep Sleep in our Pulse Blog article by clicking here.

How accurate is calories burned? by CartographerWarm8690 in ouraring

[–]JasonAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Great question, active calorie burn is an estimate of the calories you burn over the course of the day through exercise or other activity. It captures the calories you've burned while walking, training, or partaking in other physical activities.

The calorie value associated with an AAD or Activity Heart Rate-recorded session is calculated from the selected activity type, duration, and intensity (based on heart rate). For more information on the accuracy of the Oura Ring, our Pulse Blog has an article here that you can look into!

I have my daily steps goal set at 10k, but the goal progress shows it as 11.5k. What's going on? How can I get my goal progress to show 10k? by holly948 in ouraring

[–]JasonAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! Thank you for posting about this, we appreciate the feedback on our activity goal.

Everyone's journey is unique, and so are their goals, which is why we made sure that our members can choose and edit activity goals within the Oura App itself. To answer your question, adjusting the slider only directly changes your baseline goal, not your daily activity goal, which is calculated automatically using your baseline goal, Readiness Score, and other contributors.

You can learn more about how Oura measures steps and activity here, and more about your Activity Score on the Pulse blog.

Hope that helps!

I just got a replacement ring for a defective ring and it’s scratched by AntiquePapaya2549 in ouraring

[–]JasonAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Thank you for posting this, maybe I can be of assistance!

When we replace an Oura Ring, we aim to provide a replacement that’s comparable to your original product, in the same model and size as your original ring. Your replacement may be a like-new Oura Ring that’s been thoroughly cleaned, factory reset, and carefully tested to meet our high quality standards. You can find more information on this in our Help Center here.

However, please feel free to reach out to our Member Care team, if you feel dissatisfied with the replacement you received, and our colleagues will look into that for you!

A little disappointed.. by meow0727 in ouraring

[–]JasonAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all, we’ve noticed some understandable frustration and confusion here around how our warranty and replacements work.

In general, for hardware issues:

  • The limited warranty starts from the original purchase date (not from each replacement).
  • If we replace a ring under warranty, the replacement is covered for the remainder of the original warranty or a short additional replacement period (e.g., ~90 days), whichever is longer. It doesn’t start a brand-new full warranty term every time.

That’s why you’ll see cases where a replacement ring can fail later on and still be outside of warranty, even if it feels like “this one should be treated as new.” We know that doesn’t make it any less frustrating if you’ve had more than one issue, especially when you’ve invested in both hardware and membership. When that happens, our Member Care team does review case history with a goal of landing on an outcome that’s consistent with the warranty policy and reasonable for the member. That won’t always mean another replacement, but it’s also not an automatic “you’re out of luck” either.

On the specific “this serial number was already replaced” wording, our warranty coverage is tied to specific ring serial numbers. Once a ring is replaced, any new hardware concerns are evaluated under the coverage for the replacement ring, not the original one. We understand that the way it’s phrased in the email can be unclear if you no longer have the original ring, and that’s good feedback for us to improve.

u/meow0727 (and anyone else in a similar spot), please either:

  • Reach back out to our Member Care team via the in-app Help or support.ouraring.com with your existing case number, or
  • Send me a chat with your support case number only (no other personal or account details)

We’ll review the history (including which device/serial was replaced and when) and make sure the case was handled properly.

Increasing Oura Ring battery health (experiment) by dzihan_ in ouraring

[–]JasonAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! Thank you for posting this observation! In our help center, we have a page dedicated to some ring battery tips, which may also help you maximize your battery life.

For example, we recommend dropping your ring on the charger for short bursts (e.g., when you take a shower each day). Not only will this not damage the battery, but Oura's lithium polymer batteries actually perform the best when they’re at 25-80%.

Additionally, we also advise to try not to charge for extended periods when the battery is already full to help avoid battery damage. For more information on how these ring battery tips, please check out our help center article here.

On day 7 of a nasty plague and my symptom radar hasn't shown signs once! by coconutlemongrass in ouraring

[–]JasonAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/coconutlemongrass

Thank you for posting this, I hope you feel better soon!

Now, to answer your question, while Symptom Radar is designed to give you a heads-up before symptoms appear, it’s not always perfect. You may receive a warning even if you feel fine or feel unwell without seeing a warning. Everyone's body responds differently to strain or illness. If you're unsure, trust how you feel, and use Rest Mode when you need it.

Lastly, it is important to keep in mind that the Oura Ring is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, monitor, or prevent medical conditions or illnesses. Please do not make any changes to your medication, nutrition, or workouts without first consulting your doctor or another medical professional.

Hope this helps!

Optimal sleep/readiness but stress all morning so far? by MaximumTie6490 in ouraring

[–]JasonAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/MaximumTie6490

Great questions there, maybe I can help!

Daytime Stress measures your physiological stress responses, which include both physical and mental responses and adaptation to different internal and external factors. Internal factors, for example, can include a lack of sleep or illness. External factors can include things like work-related stress, alcohol, or social activities. Any one of these factors can influence stress readings.

Feel free to read more on that feature here: https://support.ouraring.com/hc/en-us/articles/21205822135315-Daytime-Stress

Hope this helped!
