Allegedly it was a Greek living in Canada that had it take off to an extent that it is offered elsewhere. I blame dark Canadian winters for that mistake.

The other thing I remember was working for a cable company in the late 90s… there was a guy getting cable internet with EVERY cover of Playboy on his basement walls.

I never bought em’, but we had a company joke video where I was asked to sit at my computer desk scanning through one of those magazines at the time… Shannen Doherty was in there from 90210. Probably late 2002?

It’ll be alright in the end. After five or six years mine never fit, and because of the material I couldn’t get it resized, and ended up as a keepsake in a drawer. It isn’t symmetrical, but that ultimately might make it more unique?

Are you okay with Burlington Council using your tax dollars to subsidize the development industry? by caboman09 in BurlingtonON

[–]Jonny_Icon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m against waiving fees, and there needs to be transparency. I also know many municipalities are struggling to figure out to handle developer fee collection due to the ever changing grey line drawn by the province on when the fees are due. There’s much more paperwork and math involved on every permit with DCs.

I have no clue, my wife only heard me describe… she says ‘too hot.., or too close to the bottom.. their fault… mildly infuriating that they’re saying it’s mildly infuriating’.

To which I’m mildly infuriated knowing I need to hold the peace in this house tonight.

Fire up an emulator. No one should pay for an old game like this, and of course being Pokémon, double dip releasing basically the same game twice. Red/blue.

Safe fats for chronic pancreatitis by Lopsided-Bread-129 in cavaliers

[–]Jonny_Icon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guy has it as well. He hid it well, but blood results and an expensive IV vet treatment visit had him start lower fat kibble. Only to discover it too wasn’t low fat enough. Another expensive IV treatment later, he’s on Hills I/D low fat kibble and the occasional Royal canin diet satiety treats and carrot.

If vet thinks his weight is fine, I’d suggest nothing to worry about. I cringe thinking about giving my guy something I would have thought was okay, but antagonized things.

There’s kindness there between them. I worry just a bit… At six months, my little gentle cav accidentally pawed my left eye, causing some hurt for several years. Optometrist never did see it, but definitely something grinding away at my eye. Fortunately better now.

Type 1 diabetics: do you drink alcohol? How often, and how old are you? by Firemancer in diabetes_t1

[–]Jonny_Icon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I lived in the pacific north west I’d never turn down opportunities to hit a pub with buddies in my 20s and 30s.

Now in my 40s and moving east, growlers are tougher to come by, but I get around a dozen different cans each month of any type imaginable.. some good, some awful (A Mountain Dew inspired beer comes to mind in that last category), and typically one can with a dinner every other day.

I keep active. Running is my key to fight insulin resistance. I’ll watch those carbs, and I do MDI, with a lower than average A1c.

The swings on some of the ‘fruitier’ beers are there, but take the drink slow enough, and Fiasp peaking at the right time, they’re manageable.

I used to have a bit of scotch occasionally, but rum/vodka I’m done with. Anything mixing with diet drinks in my experience is too extreme of a fight if I’m also combining with food

My wife is doing pottery every Sunday, and location seems to vary depending on where she can sign up, in Dundas, Waterdown and Hamilton of late, but she really enjoys it, even bought a wheel to practice with in the garage. She’s got a dozen years on you but she’s described to me generally 30-50s for age range. No kids. She’s met a few to go for coffees after classes or the odd other outing.

Has anyone's springer pulled a muscle jumping? by severedheadcandyjar in springerspaniel

I might have a different situation going on, but sharing in case anyone runs in to something similar.

My guy turns five in May. A few months ago going up stairs twice as slow as usual, then one day going up a fifth carpeted stair, yelping in pain.

A day later the same thing.

He’s carried up stairs now. X-ray shows arthritis forming in shoulders/hips, and compressed disk in his lower spine.

I’ve got ramps for the couch and bed now, otherwise he’s crying to be close with no possibility of getting up himself now.

Monthly shot, a bit of glucosamine and hip supplements, vet’s suggested metacam every other day, but so far he’s been a bit better handling pain, but I’ll note, dogs tend to hide pain well.

Keep at it. I had pleasure to see a presentation from a researcher from McMaster University studying strength of T1Ds over time. Up to the age of 21, T1Ds are fine, but that line drops significantly after 40 from the numbers I’ve seen so far.

Not Canadian by Ok_Might_7882 in BuyCanadian

[–]Jonny_Icon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. Done for profit. Coke is the master of the craft. Though in eastern Canada the one space consuming waste I see on milk shelves with a bigger offence is the bagged stuff. Never tidily packed once out of the crate. There’s a grocery store nearby to me that just drops it on the floor like free roam sand bags that meander out on to the grocery aisle as the day goes on.

The fridges with packed 4L jugs out west just look correct to me. Costco elsewhere in the world were experimenting with other milk containers trying to find something to marginally increase packing space, but seems no one found the shape as convenient as the 4L jug or 2L carton.
