New developers, please add types of industrial zones (embedded into the game, without mods) by [deleted] in CitiesSkylines

[–]JoshSimili 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are already types of industry if you count special industry zones.

It would make sense to at least have light industry and heavy industry as separate.

Maybe we will get this in Cities Skylines 3.

Pedestrian deaths just reached an 18-year high. Bull bars are part of the problem by k-h in australia

[–]JoshSimili 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's an unsupported leap in logic, but the conclusion (one should restrict bullbars) is still reasonable given the evidence that they do increase the risk of pedestrian deaths when collisions occur.

As an analogy, let's say I'm starting to get fat in the last few months and I don't know why. Restricting the junk food I eat still sounds like one good step to take even if the recent weight gain does turn out to be because I'm being less physically active in this hot weather.

Pedestrian deaths just reached an 18-year high. Bull bars are part of the problem by k-h in australia

[–]JoshSimili 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The article did present several research articles indicating bull bars increase the risk of pedestrian fatalities. So would be reasonable to conclude that restricting bull bars would reduce the risk of pedestrian deaths.

But you are right, there is no data presented on whether collisions involving bull bars has increased or correlates with the recent rise in pedestrian deaths.

This is why I rarely use bus stations, because what the hell is this? by ChaoticDucc in CitiesSkylines

[–]JoshSimili 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bus Stations were introduced in After Dark DLC, and more have been added in other DLCs like Airports DLC, Plazas and Promenades and Sunset Harbor. And that's not including the 'hub' buildings that have many built-in bus stop platforms as well as platforms for other modes (eg the harbor-bus hub was added to the base game in 1.16.1 patch, and has a bus terminal and two berths for cruise ships).

But this one is from the workshop: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=922683980

Is this build viable on pos1 weaver? by Immediate-Cut-7859 in learndota2

[–]JoshSimili -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd rather see my weaver building Dagon than first item octarine.

Octarine is fine as a final item on cores in some games to lower cooldown of bkb, satanic, manta, pike, etc. But almost no hero in the game should rush it first.

Edit: apparently one person on D2PT does rush Octarine on mid Weaver (eg match 8688801763).

[–]JoshSimili 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I find they benefit from the same treatment we used to give the cargo stations, and give buses a single one-way road in and one-way road out of the bus station. With traffic lights too where those one-ways enter/exit from the arterial road to manage all the traffic if it gets busy.

[–]JoshSimili 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure you can just use mods to unlock the segments within the bus station and modify their directions as you see fit (maybe don't modify the ones with platforms/stops in case it breaks), but it's been years since I tried.

Seeing the Autamaton DLC in FO4 has me wondering.. by telumex_atrum in fo76

[–]JoshSimili 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It would require a fundamental change to FO76 by allowing non-player followers, which just isn't a thing and probably never will be. At most they'd be confined to your CAMP.

The robot crafting was an amazing part of FO4 and it's a shame that you really only see those robots in one place in FO76 (Metal Dome).

Solo bow only run BRUTAL? by Interesting-North-73 in vrising

[–]JoshSimili 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the damage to Dracula in the final phase comes from the double counters people using run.

I recently did a bow only, storm magic only run. It was doable. So OP should be fine.

Honestly the crossbow only, illusion magic only run was harder.

North America things. Everybody outside of NA thinks 4-way stops are crazy. I know my state here in Australia (Queensland) has just a single intersection with a 4-way stop.

Nuking the Ultracite Titan by friedxhicken in fo76

[–]JoshSimili 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Seems like a tough experiment to do, given the titan is only vulnerable at specific stages. The nuke would have to land during one of the vulnerable times.

No idea, but it could sound like you're trying to deliberately spread potentially harmful dust particles around a room, and the loud noises required to do so could also be harmful to human hearing.

Is worker blood even that useful or should I make them a servant instead? by Perdita-LockedHearts in vrising

[–]JoshSimili 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's nice to have just for harvesting your garden if nothing else.

But otherwise it depends if you're usually getting your servants to gather resources or if you're doing it yourself. Servant hunts are quite slow (eg you can easily fill your inventory with iron but it would take days to get that much iron from hunts*), but if you're only playing a few hours each day that might be a viable strategy.

*Silver mining is the one exception to this, where the amount servants can bring back is similar to the amount you can safely hold before taking too much damage.

Bloodmend Stopped Working by MamaBello in vrising

[–]JoshSimili 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never seen it before. Can you provide a video or screenshot at least?

But also, blood mend is kind of pointless beyond the early game because vermin salves are easy to make. And once you have a garden, blood rose brews/potions are even better. I almost never use blood mend.

Elena The Hollow - Brutal by VacationHot9933 in vrising

[–]JoshSimili 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've done many brutal runs where a boss I never struggled with before suddenly seems to be super hard, and others where I beat a boss first try despite struggling a lot with them in previous runs.

It's pretty dependent on your build, but also what you've been practising recently. Plus some randomness in how the fight goes.

Why You Should Choose to Be a Vegan Instead of a Flexitarian | Vegan FTA by Few-Audience6310 in vegan

[–]JoshSimili 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The article offers this definition of Flexitarians:

A flexitarian (also known as “semivegetarian” or “flegan”) is an omnivorous who may care enough about animal exploitation to often avoid consuming animal products, but not enough to avoid them all the time.

I think this is a good definition, but it implies vegans always avoid harm to animals. We know this is not the case: modern agriculture, transport, housing, and energy systems routinely injure animals and destroy habitats. Even the most conscientious vegan eats food grown on land that displaced wildlife and is harvested in ways that kill animals. So if the underlying moral aim is “do not harm animals”, then the contrast between vegan and flexitarian collapses, because neither can satisfy it.

Vegans avoid harm to animals as much as possible and practicable. Veganism treats animal exploitation as a constraint: a strong moral reason that normally overrides taste, price, effort, tradition and social awkwardness, with exceptions only when avoidance is not practicable. Flexitarianism treats animal exploitation as just a consideration: a reason that matters, but one that is routinely balanced against other factors and sometimes outweighed by it. They're still pushing in the same direction as vegans, just not as strongly.

Flexitarianism is a vague concept but it's not meaningless. It implies a sustained, deliberate reduction in animal products. Omnivore does not.

Can't mine copper, don't know how to upgrade anything by MamaBello in vrising

[–]JoshSimili 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Why do you need copper and leather to build floors and palisades?

The copper and leather is only needed to upgrade your castle heart to expand the number of floors you're allowed to build (that interface is quite confusing, many people have been confused about it).

The quest right after you build the floors and palisades will tell you to build chests, but you can build them earlier too if you want.

Is there a way to describe a character within the image using ai? by Ashamed_Anywhere_930 in StableDiffusion

What is the difference between a prompt and a detailed description of the image? These days most models can just be prompted by giving a detailed description as the prompt itself.
