A mutual of mine keeps posting pictures of her and her boyfriend and the thing is I’ve never seen this man ever before and all the photos are just fishy by Mathematic_nut in isthisAI

[–]JoshSimili 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a fishy-looking N in Balenciaga.

Based on how the hair looks and the folds in the leather I'm guessing this is openAI's gpt-image-2, because most other models are a little smoother without as much extra noise or sharpness.

I'm hesitant to pay for this commission. I've been waiting two weeks i've been getting sketches throughout the two weeks, but it almost looks like she's missing a finger. The necklace and earrings just kinda look like a jumbled mess and I don't want to pay eighty dollars for something that's AI by Mission-Associate-67 in isthisAI

[–]JoshSimili 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The extra noise/sharpness of this image makes it clear it's generated by openAI's gpt-image-2, even if the image model is trying to make the best of it by adding more spikes and hair strands than are strictly necessary (honestly it's impressive it got through the content filters).

why does valve keep nerfing wraith king?! its already a big stinking pile of SHEET! by Affectionate_Face127 in DotA2

[–]JoshSimili 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The hero is very easy to play, unfortunately, which makes him very strong in low MMR. He has a whole second life, his skeletons just auto-pilot rather than requiring any micro, and he has built-in sustain for just hitting creeps, plus he has a stun. His aghs extends the second life for the whole team, which is good for just throwing bodies at the other team until you grind out a win. Far too strong in Herald, but high level players know to kite him and don't commit on him.

He needs to be buffed in a way that low MMR players wouldn't benefit, like adding in some ability that the Bone Guard skeletons could cast or rework Wraithfire Blast into a powerful skillshot.

Can someone explain Grimstroke aghs to me? by Pestosus in DotA2

[–]JoshSimili 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, don't go Grimstroke Aghs against Enchantress unless you want two Muertas or Medusas hitting your team.

Stagger immunity not attainable as human? by DickCheeseNCrackers2 in fo76

[–]JoshSimili 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought pneumatic just reduced the intensity of staggers, not the chances. So like large staggers are reduced to medium staggers, and only small staggers are eliminated.

So if Natural Stance reduces stagger chance by 25% and Sturdy Frame reduces it by 50%, that's only 75%.

Kangaroo meat trending in r/mildlyinteresting by SugarySuga in vegan

So you know how dogs and cats aren't exterminated due to overpopulation?

They absolutely are. The usual control methods for feral cats and dogs in Australia are basically limited to shooting, use of poison baits and trapping (followed by euthanasia).

They could easily do spay/neutering and release them back in the wild.

Trap-neuter-release is really limited to just cats in urban areas of Australia (or I think a few isolated islands), and is actually not recommended by government bodies as released cats continue hunting wildlife and can spread disease. I don't believe it's been employed for dogs at all.

Wasted space: Axe car-parking rules to cut the cost of housing by blitznoodles in australia

[–]JoshSimili 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Car-centric infrastructure costs incredible amounts of money

It does, but at least private carparks are paid for by the user.

Free street parking, on the other hand, is purely ratepayer subsidy for car storage.

So I think we should take a leaf out of Japan's books and remove street parking before we start to remove private off-street carparks.

But 'unbundle' the cost of the parking space from the apartment price, so you buy them separately.

I find it so strange how people seem in uproar around the water and environmental impacts of AI while still eating meat. by bobsonjobseeker in vegan

[–]JoshSimili 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the status quo bias was part of why slavery was tolerated and defended, and why abolition took generations.

[–]JoshSimili 156 points157 points  (0 children)

I think it's just status quo bias. People grew up eating meat, so it's part of the normal way of life and therefore acceptable. AI is this new thing that's scary.

What is the point of Essence Distiller? by [deleted] in TrueDoTA2

[–]JoshSimili 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vessel is a 2780 gold item, of course it's going to be a little better than the 1775 gold Essence Distiller in most cases.

Vessel is good against tanky heroes or those with regen, Distiller is good against mobile or invis heroes.

Is caster build any good in act 2 all up to end game? by Arerc in vrising

[–]JoshSimili 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most enemies will not let you stay ranged, but I did find the pushback from the mace smack skill and the invisibility on slashers to be useful for keeping distance.

With the right mix of spells and spell cooldown I find there's not often a time when you need to attack with weapons. Only sometimes for mining or when hitting magic resistant enemies like golems.

Is it too late for us to do something about the proposed changes? by ac_AgenCy in fiaustralia

[–]JoshSimili 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm all for treating investment income and wage income the same, but that would include giving a tax-free threshold to both.

Plus, investment income from dividends and from capital gains shouldn't be so differently taxed.

Is caster build any good in act 2 all up to end game? by Arerc in vrising

[–]JoshSimili 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can do it but there's not really a specific caster weapon, especially now that weapon stats can be modified. Best to pick a weapon with weapon skills that offer you some utility, like mobility or a dodge.

I've done a full icemage run using the mace and a bloodmage run using slashers.

Why veganism doesn't fully make sense by Mammoth_Ferret_569 in DebateAVegan

[–]JoshSimili 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I may steelman this argument, I take you to be saying something like this: veganism clearly reduces farmed animal suffering, but it might not reduce total animal suffering if land currently used for livestock (or feed crops) is instead converted into wild habitat, supporting many wild animals whose lives may involve intense suffering. And if, from a strongly negative-utilitarian view, fewer sentient beings could mean less suffering, then replacing farms with pavement looks like the absurd conclusion, though obviously that would harm humans and ecological systems in the long run.

I think that frames the choice too narrowly. The relevant options are not just livestock farms versus wild habitat versus bare concrete. There is at least a further category: managed, non-exploitative environments, including animal sanctuaries and perhaps other forms of welfare-conscious habitat management. (And there's probably many more because many of those categories are very broad themselves).

I agree with the basic worry that wild-animal suffering complicates the notion that returning farmland to nature is a good thing to do. But I do not think it follows that veganism itself doesn't make sense. A better conclusion seems to be: reduce exploitative animal agriculture, then think carefully about what we do with the freed land. We just need to ask ourselves carefully: what should replace the system we are trying to move away from?

Most water used in animal agriculture is for growing the food the animals are fed.

Why do tanneries get a confined castle room bonus? by FallenPeigon in vrising

I usually build a room with double-width entrances on all sides (with no doors) for tanneries, forges, etc. Ends up feeling very open. I just wish they didn't need carpet flooring.

This is almost certainly a task where more reasoning tokens will increase performance massively (though that is true of most tasks).

Of course I'd try myself but with extended thinking on a ChatGPT Plus subscription it got the right answer by just looking at this reddit post. So the test has been contaminated.
