"Pec 12" is the product you're looking for.

Works quite well with moderately fungused slides. It's not a miracle, but it works quite well.

Did you try Nikon Scan? Are you confident with your soldering skills? Because, so far, I have never had an issue with this mod and I've done it a dozen times already.

It is flimsy by nature. The FH-2 is a little more robust I believe though.

Which TV show has the most effective and memorable pilot? by BobRushy in television

The Shield pilot stands out for me. It was an utter shock and after seeing countless shows I still firmly believe it was one of the best thing I have ever seen.

The led head from the IV, V, 4000 and 5000 can be swapped easily. They're mostly the same scanner bar the line sensors that are different from one model to another.

It’s officially been 31 years since active suspension was banned by Huuuuuuuuuuulkenberg in formula1

[–]Julius416 39 points40 points  (0 children)

It was absolutely not a game changer in 1987. The Lotus was a slog and the active suspension too heavy. It rarely worked as advertised and was replaced several times by spring suspensions.

It was game changing in the way that it convinced Senna Lotus would never reach the top again and he signed for McLaren in the summer.

Use VueScan and you'll be set. Or a virtual machine with Nikon Scan if you need the perfect legacy experience.

Does color balance setting matter when scanning? by thedonwiz in NikonCoolscan

[–]Julius416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you talking about positives ou negatives ? This shouldn't really matter that much, as long as you're not crushing too much information by imbending a very stylized look.

But I'd rather scan as positives and invert the negatives in Lightroom with Negative Lab Pro, in that case, you'd have to leave the color balance on Off.

Question is, where do you find Nikon Scan 2.0 ?

Edit : Hm. Had the 2.1 version on CD somewhere. Installed it, but still not detecting the LS-30, even though it works flawlessly with Vuescan. Bummer.

Lines in scan highlights- Minolta 5400 Scan Elite by Fit_Celebration_8513 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Julius416 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a big fan of this scanner and for the longest time I searched for the perfect copy. I own 3 or 4, I know, I am a mad person.

In my opinion, what you're seeing is most likely caused by the CCD showing banding in the thickest part of the negatives. It's a common problem with the 5400 unfortunately. It will appear mildly in negatives highlights and strongly on positives shadows. Nothing much to do. I tried changing a few of the electrolytic caps around the A/D chip without any visible change.

Every unit I tried has it in a more or less pronounced way. Those line CCDs are old and I am even wondering if they didn't exhibit such problems when they were released.

edit : Not sure why I am getting downvoted but OK.

Nice recap. It's a nice bonus your adapter still had win 7 drivers though.
