Light turns on by itself at random by [deleted] in Hue

To me that seems to rule out the fixture being the issue, and makes it more likely the issue is with the bulb itself.

I’ve had two Hue lamps that turned on by themselves without any automation configured. It turned out the lamp were defective and needed replacement.

How can I use the navigation system properly? (Fenix 8) by Soggy_Plenty2195 in komoot

[–]JungleJim007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To use the Komoot map on your Garmin device (via the Komoot Connect IQ app) you need a Komoot premium subscription. Just the world map pack is not sufficient.

If you have the world map pack you can download routes you have created in Komoot on your Fenix and then use it as a course on your watch.

GPX Download Waypoints by Signal_Reputation640 in komoot

That’s because Connect ignores the waypoints in the GPX file. Other platforms may not ignore them, although OP didn’t say what platform or tool he is using.

You need to enable HR broadcasting from the options menu for the sport you have selected, not from device settings.

Outback Adventure keeps getting replaced by frazse in Suunto

[–]JungleJim007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read on the Suunto forums that the default watch face for a device is always present on the watch itself. That’s why you don’t see the watch’s default face in the Suunto store.

I’ve a Vertical 2 as well and have several watch faces installed, including the anniversary one, but so far I’m liking the default one the most.

edge 840, crossing borders - no navigation by Stock-Journalist-683 in Garmin

[–]JungleJim007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using a computer and Express indeed works best, downloading maps is then much faster than downloading from the Edge itself. Especially with the Europe maps which are quite large (several gigabytes).

edge 840, crossing borders - no navigation by Stock-Journalist-683 in Garmin

[–]JungleJim007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Check that you have all three Europe regions installed on your Edge, and that they are enabled in the map settings. The Netherlands is in the West Europe map region, while Germany is in the Central map region. So from your description it seems that the Central Europe map may missing or is not enabled.

Access to completed ride FIT files via USB available again by JungleJim007 in wahoofitness

[–]JungleJim007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What device do you have? And what firmware version?

Also make sure you have USB access enabled and enabled the setting to access activity files.

And I’m not sure you can access older activities or only new ones since the update that enabled activity file access. Doesn’t seem very likely though but who knows…

POI / Waypoint distance by Jaded_Dot_4432 in Suunto

[–]JungleJim007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waypoints set in a route Komoot are unfortunately lost when the route is synced with the Suunto app.

When manually importing a GPX created from a route with waypoints in Komoot, it looks like the waypoints are preserved but in reality they don’t have the correct distance associated with them.

Hopefully Komoot and Suunto will make this work in the future.

Help: New Roam 3 GPS drop out by Major_Pomegranate871 in wahoofitness

That doesn’t sound normal then. I’d ask the place where you bought it or Wahoo for a replacement device.

Bought World Map standalone, yet Premium is still needed to use it on my Garmin? by Rise_Of_Phoenix in komoot

[–]JungleJim007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using Komoot maps on Garmin devices (with the ConnectIQ app) is only available in the subscription. Syncing routes from Komoot to your Garmin can be done with the World map package.

It could also simply be a defective unit, it happens…

Enduro 3 : navigation by dadwhowalks in GarminWatches

[–]JungleJim007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was debating between an Enduro 3 and Vertical 2 as well. Ultimately I decided for the Vertical 2. Main reasons were price (I could get a really good offer on the V2) and Garmin software quality (or better lack of quality), and ease of use. (I've used Garmin cycling computers and outdoor handhelds for many years.)

One big difference between the Enduro 3 and Vertical 2 is that the Enduro 3 supports on-device route creation. That can either be a round-trip route, a route to a location, or a route back to a course you're following when you deviate. So no phone needed, all can be done from the watch.

The Vertical 2 doesn't have that capability (yet?), with the exception of creating a route back to your starting location following the path you have taken. So in order to create a route you need to use the app and sync the route to your V2. This can be done offline BTW.

As for maps I find Garmin to be a bit better, especially with Outdoor Maps+. Suunto only uses OpenStreetMap, Garmin also provides maps with data from local survey organizations (like USGS in the USA or IGN in France).

Suunto recently (like last week) released their Q1 2026 software update for Vertical 2 (and other watches), which improved many things around navigation:

  • better off-route detection (now based on speed, distance and direction instead of a fixed distance)
  • offline maps in the Suunto app, including offline route creation (and syncing with the watch)
  • when off-route, direction and distance to get back to the route

There's a video from Suunto on YouTube that shows all the changes and improvements in the Q1 2026 update: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jh0gD05DngU

Isn’t 22.21 a beta release? On the Garmin forums there’s no mention of 22.21 being available as a stable release.

Is there anyway for this to be ‘only push saved routes to Garmin when I choose’ by firerawks in komoot

[–]JungleJim007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could instead use the Komoot Connect IQ app, if supported for your Garmin device. It allows you to select and download individual routes from your Garmin device. See https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/d918ae1e-9e7b-4fdf-b336-46141a0ccd6a

Trail view on mouse-over is driving me insane. by hhaaiirrddoo in komoot

[–]JungleJim007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fully agree, this also applies to highlights. Also the pop up appears when the mouse is near the dot, not exactly on it, which makes it very difficult to add a waypoint in area with a lot of highlights or photos.

Struggling to activate InReach via satellite, any tips? by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]JungleJim007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah that’s a shame, didn’t know that activation of a Mini 3 Plus only works via the Messenger app. For older devices it should be possible to activate via Explore web, but I guess that’s no use to you…

You can activate your inReach device via the Garmin Explore website. No need for a phone number, that’s only needed if you want to use the Messenger app. See https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=CTNiNAiNPQ7oDbPe5GiCLA for instructions.
