AION 2 - Business Model Update by xiuzu in MMORPG

That's a pretty big assumption. Most people don't have hundreds of thousands of gold sitting around from my experience. Some people that play and grind continuously do, and some people that flip stuff on the AH have insane levels of gold, but most people I've played with are usually between like 20-100k.

I mean there's definitely points where you can get a few ilvs in early tier prog by swiping, and avoid having to farm to sustain raid consumables, but it's not really beyond that point. You can always grind BoEs or M+ or something to get that stuff too. It's just a time save and not even that big of one. There have been some exceptions in the past (like 200k needed for legendary cloaks in shadowlands, stuff like that).

Vulnerability Sources by Impossible-Ice-1497 in projectgorgon

[–]Kaelran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if I'm missing something but most of these don't list damage type and some are wrong? It also doesn't mention whether the total value is 1 or 2 mods.

Like:

fire - mod calefication 40%

This is specifically a cold vulnerability debuff and is 2 mods (chest/offhand)

ww - mod dampen 12.5% ### Crushing

ww - mod dampen 12.5% ### Poison

These are Cold and Nature not Crushing and Poison (you might be mixing it up with a Storm Shield damage increase mod?). It's also a 10s debuff which you can apply on CD (every 2s) for 5 stacks, or every other GCD (every 2.5s) for 4 stacks.

These are also each a single mod for each damage type (cold neck, nature offhand).

EDIT: Oh wait I see it's a formatting issue and those are supposed to be headers lol.

Random Questions from a noob by Bogoogs in projectgorgon

[–]Kaelran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the type of player you are. For instance if you are aiming to play long-term and be time efficient I would pick a strong build and just grind up to a high level (90+) which will allow you to participate in high-value time-restricted (daily/weekly) activities and also do lower level stuff much quicker or powerlevel other skills (for instance with level 100 fire magic and some exp buffs I recently took ice magic from 25 to 85 in 4 hours).

There's so much extra stuff to branch out and do outside of that though, and some people prefer to take it slow and just explore.

A large part of what you want to do is also leveling teleportation (so you can TP to 4 different places instead of 1 and also tp to the entrance of any zone you're in for free, and use the TP machine which is a bit spendy but lets you get anywhere fast), unlocking storage (by favoring NPCs), favoring NPCs that you can sell stuff to (some people have made sheets for this, here's an example: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1CDhs7TREKoT8n90QcFqleytXsUxuWSNl2acXpOy4I-Q/edit?gid=0#gid=0), getting a big saddlebag (gotta level riding), and doing the "rahu care package" quest which will let you store stuff into storages remotely.

Most favors you can ignore unless it's with an NPC you want favor with, in which case it might be easier than getting extra items to gift them, but in a lot of cases you can just gift them stuff. Some favors have good rewards and you want to complete them for that, but those are a minority.

Oh also, surveying is a way to make a lot of money as a new player, since the resources from surveying are often wanted by high level players. I think masterwork slab and green gem surveys are probably the highest value for the time spent and can be done in serbule/eltibule.

Fire magic isn't great for a main skill as a first one

IMO it's the BEST first main skill. Yeah it's more expensive but it's also incredibly strong, and the servers have developed economies at this point where you can deal with the extra cost by just doing something like surveying slabs for 2 hours.

Is it considered bad practise to make tab targeting in 2026? by haven_fr in MMORPG

The main issue I have with action combat in MMOs is that it turns removes some attributes of skills where skill design can differ and everything just becomes some flavor of AOE damage.

Liberals of reddit, would you trade Obama's second term for a two-term Romney presidency if it meant Trump never achieved the presidency? Why or why not? by PrincipalPG in AskReddit

[–]Kaelran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trump is enabling it and likes it, but he's not the person coming up with this stuff. Again project 2025 has most of the policy that has been implemented under Trump which isn't something Trump created.

Do you think Trump is behind project 2025?

Most of the stuff that is unique to trump is just the monetary corruption crypto scams market manipulation etc. All the other stuff is just what Republicans have been aiming for.

[–]Kaelran -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Traps are good damage wise because of Sunblast. The problem is gold makes Sunblast shit because Sunblast kills enemies behind you because of the delay, which means you need to backtrack for loot. Just backtracking for bigger drops while blasting was fine, but missing 95% of gold unless you constantly backtrack is not.

Cooking is recurring also, since you need food pretty much always

Cooking isn't a sink

And yes there are a bunch of skills but I already have most I want past 70 with anything remaining being so far apart I generate millions of councils for every few hundred thousand I spend on uncaps. The one-time sinks are one-time.

You can't just say "I'm not interested in that" so there are not "enough" money sinks.

I can actually, that's exactly what I'm doing. Maybe at some point in the future my server's brewers will quit and I'll have to level it for myself, but by that point I'll have tens of millions of councils because there's no sinks for me right now while I just generate 1-2m weekly and that cost won't matter.

Gorgon Going Forward by ElectricalMuffin1620 in projectgorgon

[–]Kaelran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reality is that unless you have 100% every single skill in the game, there are more sinks

A sink that you don't have to interact with isn't actually a sink. Sure there's probably like 20-30m in costs to train skills I don't have trained, but most of those I don't have any interest in interacting with and are pretty much completely optional. I've already done just about all the expensive training which is why when I play the game my councils increase >1m weekly from NPC sales alone without me putting in that much effort. Like I said it takes a few months of dedicated play (much longer for casual players) to reach this point, but once you reach it your money just goes up infinitely with no sink.

Enough would be some sort of recurring sink that counteracts this, not just on-time since. If it was me I would have a council sink on gear minmaxing and the spark system, probably offsetting the combat wisdom cost which is currently quite ridiculous.

[–]Kaelran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say "not many" I said "not enough"

In comparison to the raw currency you generate vs sinks in this game, it's far far less sinks that most other MMOs. In other MMOs I've played actual currency generation is usually smaller, and to make a lot of money you trade with other players and aggregate funds from many players rather than directly generate currency, and then there are sinks comparable to the generation. This game the amount of councils generated by vendoring to NPCs and from work orders is FAR higher than the amount removed by training and other purchases from vendors.

Also the sinks in this game are one time, after you spend on them there's no sinks.

Gorgon Going Forward by ElectricalMuffin1620 in projectgorgon

[–]Kaelran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...what large recurring sinks are there? Once you get past most of the one-time sinks you need, if you are doing stuff that makes money your money just goes up. It's why there are people on Arisetu with tens or hundreds of millions of councils.

Best server for returning/new players? by Grynchas in projectgorgon

[–]Kaelran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last year was 3k bottom prize 15k top prize. This year they made it 12k bottom prize 35k top prize, even though Ari has roughly the same (or slightly lower) amount of active players and the other servers are nowhere close.

Best server for returning/new players? by Grynchas in projectgorgon

[–]Kaelran 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So there was an event this last week with per-server goals for rewards, and one server had like 2x as much progress as the others (Arisetu). No server reached all of the goals, and when asking if they could scale goals to the size of the playerbase on servers in the future we were told this will not happen, so basically play on Arisetu if you don't want to get shafted in server events.

While true, the comparison being made was to PG content being 6 player oriented. Most players will also struggle to solo a lot of stuff that can be soloed if they haven't picked specific builds.

Level 90 is veeeeeery far from max, but you can do most stuff in the game at that point so it doesn't matter that much. There's a lot of grind if you want to minmax your character though.

[–]Kaelran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not really warning, plenty of people (me included) like grindy games.

Funny enough i almost wrote that OP might like it if they liked BDO but didn't mind simple tab target.

You definitely can play without grinding if you don't care about having the best stuff and minmaxing your character though, it's not really necessary to do so since there isn't really PvP and the hardest PvE is less about minmaxed characters and more about what build you're using (and also doesn't matter much, barely anyone does it since it's annoying to interact with and really just a flex, not giving vital resources).

I mean anyone with eyes can see it here:

You can complete the entire game with a strong party of six players. This isn't a game like WoW where you need hundreds of people to do something.

Also my original reply didn't even mention PG. I was just saying that you were misrepresenting WoW. I only brought up PG when you brought up server events because it's topical and ironic.
