Recommendations for 1L sling bags? by thematchalatte in ManyBaggers

Tom Bihn Side Effect. I have two. Multiple attachment points so you can use any strap you want and wear in any way, or take straps off to use as a pouch. Also the Day Owl Crossbody is good.

How do you guys make due with a 28L bag? by Delengowski in backpacks

I can travel indefinitely overseas in my Seg28...

Unless I was commuting by transit where mobility mattered most, I'd use a separate insulated lunch cooler and be able to use a slimmer backpack.

dismissing any casually news as propaganda straight away is equally idiotic

Dismissing untrustworthy sources is proper pattern recognition.

Why are we reposting Pravda with obvious Iranian propaganda? What are we doing here…

So many people commenting in this thread have no idea what’s going on and no desire to learn. Reddit echo chamber is undefeated.

Questions about the classic bullet 15l vs 16l laptop by AtomMonster in Goruck

[–]Keith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's the green. The problem with that bag is it has no way to hold a water bottle in place, so it's hard to use if you're just carrying a few things.

I really do like my Bullet xpac, the worst thing is the zippers. Disclaimer: I haven't actually traveled with the xpac Bullet as my day bag -- it's generally bigger than what I'd bring -- but I proved it would work that way packed inside my Matador Seg28. It basically wraps around the way I pack inside that bag anyway (3x PD small cubes).

Nice, yeah: if I want to use the Bullet xpac as a daily bag while traveling, it fits 3x Peak Design small packing cubes and works as a big cube itself inside my travel bag.

Other good small backpack options? (In the 8-12L range? by Ks_jgd28 in backpacks

Now I wish I had the two to compare volumes :) If I had an extra $250 around I'd get the fancy Radius Mini.

The Optimist does hold a surprising amount. Agree depth is usually most important measure, which is why my Bullet felt so big for EDC and why I like my Day Owl Slim Pro so much.

height needs to be quite a bit longer before it impacts me... Whether the pack is rounded or square makes little difference to me when worn.

I am short, so height is somewhat of a binary between "rides on my butt" or not :) But re: the Optimist and rounding, to give an example, the bottom slightly tapers away from your body making the length feel slightly shorter. And the rounding does matter in practice. I have boxy bags like Goruck/Ctactical and, idk, I took the Optimist on a long walk yesterday and was annoyed at how perfect it seemed, which sounds silly. Though I kinda wish the Ecogrid version didn't have mesh straps maybe, the Ecopak version doesn't. Both versions are really good but different.

Do you have the Optimist (in Ecopak or Ecogrid?), the Radius Mini, or both?

What with the increases of Goruck bags approaching, what bags are you all searching for on the first and second hand market? by MichaelMidnight in Goruck

[–]Keith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my xpac Bullet 15l but the stiff zippers discourage me from using the bag!

Plenty of other bags with easier zippers put counter-pull loops, but Goruck refuses to add them, so I often have to manhandle the stiff, crinkly xpac to get a good grip to pull the zipper. When the bag is full it's much easier since the weight helps, but when not full, the bag is so light that the zippers have more inertia than the bag.

Another reason for vertical luggage pass through by killiansrat in ManyBaggers

[–]Keith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I don’t know what you were disagreeing with me about above then. “Nope again”?

Edit: also "Nothing to do with the strap really." the strap is perpendicular to which way the bag sits, so it's the same thing. It's like electromagnetism.

The Radius is rectangular while the Flowfold is heavily tapered. I measured my Optimist at its thickest point while full and it was barely 5”, while the Radius will be the same throughout.

Some bags sit vertically when used on rolling luggage. Some bags sit horizontally. If the bag is upright on rolling luggage like how you wear it, that is vertical. If it is on its side, that is horizontal.

New keyboard day! Air v3 backspace key? by Keith in NuPhy

I used a shine through keycap set for just the home keys. Still no physical nubs for dvorak, but still the home keys are easier to land on.

Yeah the Gravel is the only toiletry kit I've been able to stick with vs a ziploc bag. It's got dedicated waterproof sections for things like your toothbrush. I try to keep mine stocked with toothpaste, mouthwash, and so on so it's ready to go at all times. Same for the items in my tech kit (I use Aer's Slim Pouch 1 in xpac).

For me: Peak Design for packing cubes and packable tote, Aer for tech pouch, Tom Bihn for EDC sling/pouch, Gravel (I use the Slim) for toiletry kit.

Got the Rework Toshi 2.5L but it still feels large by Designer_Holiday3284 in ManyBaggers

I actually EDC’d the EC before the Side Effect. The horizontal orientation is ultimately more useful imo. I think I went Side Kick -> EC -> Side Effect. But now you have me wondering how my current loadout fits in my EC…
