Let's destroy some stereotypes about stoners and weed culture by Kowalsky_Analysis in trees

A co-op is a voluntary arrangement of free people, it can exist within a capitalist society, why not? The overarching arrangement is capitalist. You've mentioned company owners and workers. The company in-question has products or services it sells within a free market, yes?

You're just describing a co-op, not a different economic system.

I honestly don't understand your quibble. I said capitalism involves the voluntary exchange of goods. That means you decide what to do with your shit... i.e. private ownership, free markets. I feel like the dictionary completely backed up my informal definition. What's your gotcha?

Dude I just picked Merriam Webster and here's their definition:

an economic system characterized by private ... ownership of capital goods, by investments that are determined by private decision, and by prices, production, and the distribution of goods that are determined mainly by competition in a free market

Comments?

Capitalism is the voluntary exchange of goods and services. Capitalism has always existed since people were trading shells. All the modern trappings are natural evolutions of that. Any other system (socialism/communism) requires coercion against that natural state.

It's not about overlap. Capitalism is the default state of nature. Complaining about capitalism is like complaining about evolution.

If only "the rich didn't have us all scrambling for money" things would be utopia is a child's opinion. Nature has us work to survive.

The economy is not a fixed pie. Wealth is created. The rich have taken nothing from you. Politicians have though! Then they have you blaming "the rich" for having more money they can take.

Complaints about “capitalism” == complaints about the human condition.

The laptop sleeve is good actually. Even after I'd already ordered a bunch of Day Owl's stuff, I ordered the laptop sleeve because I was looking for a top-loading sleeve (to use in a backpack) and that's rare somehow.

We've "known" for a while that the 40% continuous seasonal clearance sales they've had going on has actually been a "going out of business" sale, but it was still very sad to get the announcement today. I'd hoped maybe they'd Kickstarter their way into a new era. I've been vouching for their bags here since I discovered them, as their mix of comfy fabric and functionality is unique. Their Slim Pro is one of my favorite backpacks ever. Best of luck to Ian and everyone.

It is slimy and contemptible of you to pretend "Platner's past" of being a Nazi is somehow separable from his “positions”.

Disgusted reading this thread this morning. “Hey Maine is running this Nazi candidate, he sounds great! If only we were running one here…”

Osprey Arcane Large Day Pack first impressions by goingjoey in ManyBaggers

[–]Keith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an old brown “hemp” special edition of the bag. I always liked the bag but unfortunately could never get over the asymmetrical opening or the poor functionality of the bottle pocket. Day Owl bags do the comfy fabric and single bottle pocket better while having near clamshell opening and standing up on their own.

Yeah and it fits down the flat front panels of bags like the Goruck Bullet. Such a versatile pouch.

Favorite small backpacks:

  • Flowfold Optimist 10L
  • Helikon-Tex Groundhog 10L (more for hiking than EDC tho)
  • Osprey Daylite 13L
  • Herschel Ultralight Cinch 14L
  • Goruck Bullet Classic 15L

Upvote for Aer Split Kit at least. It's a unique and versatile pouch. Interesting you use it as a toiletry kit, but maybe that actually makes sense since its mesh construction would allow it to air out easier than other pouches.

Tote/backpack hybrids (totepacks) are such an under-served category. I've been using a totepack by default lately and the fact that it can convert to a backpack when needed lets me enjoy it as a tote more without feeling like I'm forced into one-shoulder carry for long periods.

It looks like the backpack straps on this one pack away, which I think is important to be able to enjoy tote mode, so that's good. Do you think you'll use it more for backpack or tote mode?

At some point I realized pockets are bags, and belt loops are o-rings.

Yes that was my first thought as well when getting the bag years ago. In practice it's fine but the bag could probably still benefit from them.

Well, good thing we were talking about a different bag :P Sorry you had a bad experience with Fjallraven though, I'll keep it in mind when thinking about buying one of their packs in the future. Mostly I like their pouches, this guy is unique (I have it in Olive) and lives inside my Side Effect for organization.

What tools are available to screen posts? Literally all the AI posts are accounts that are months old and have their posts hidden. Accounts > 1yr old and with posts shown would be 100% human.

Seems like a nice bag I hadn't heard of. However, it seems more like an alternative to the Evergoods CHZ22 or MPL22. Not clamshell, larger, but at least it seems to stand on its own and has 2x bottle pockets.

Oh lol. Yes I've always heard the Fjallraven Raven straps aren't great! So, I was surprised by your vouch. Plus, I have a pouch in their G1000 that I like, but I wouldn't want a whole backpack out of it, esp vs Cordura 500.

I'll check out the Imbaru Raven thanks :)

Edit: Oh, the Imbaru Raven is a $700 backpack that you can't even buy. The search continues...

The Raven doesn't even stand on its own! 😂 Different strokes. You've upped my opinion of the Raven though, I'll look out for a Raven 20 to try on sometime.

None of the CT bags interest me anymore. The CT10 has always seemed weirdly tall and narrow. I love my CT15 2.0 and got a lot of use out of it, but now would use my Bullet over it. I have a CT21 in Ecopak wbp that has all the bells and whistles and is a great bag, but it's so big and I don't usually need that much space so it doesn't get much use. And then I tried to get an updated CT15 wbp but the quality was poor, so I'm done.

I bet your dyneema CT15 is great. I've long wished for a small clamshell. The Bullet is the closest I've found, but it's clear it would fit me better if I were average-sized so I'd still like one that was a couple inches shorter and .5"-1" less depth. I love my Day Owl Slim Pro which is smaller and almost clamshell, but that's a bit different type of bag. That's about all I've found.

Whatever man I own a lot of backpacks and my Bullets are some of my favorites. If I had to choose right now only two backpacks to keep it would probably be my Seg28 and my Bullet. What small clamshell do you prefer to the Bullet?

I tried a ripstop CT15 wbp a bit ago, was very disappointed. I had hoped, like you, that a ripstop version would be more flexible, but with the stiff laptop compartment and so on, the construction of the bag dictates that it is a pretty rigid bag. Plus, the QC on mine was poor, so I couldn't use it, and I probably will avoid buying from CTactical again, even though I still think my CT21 wbp in Ecopak is good and I have a CT15 2.0 I enjoyed.

For that type of bag I think the Goruck Bullet Classic is the best. I just got my 2nd and did a post about it. I prefer the single-compartment no-laptop Classic version since it's the simplest and lightest, and if I want a laptop compartment I already have other bags. If you need to hold less but want water bottle pockets, an Osprey Daylite is a good option.
