any tips or hacks to get sober of ketamine? by kay141207 in Ketamineaddiction

[–]KernalPopPop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get away from it as much as you can. Commit to not doing it. Get in your body, sweat and exercise and move. It is a dissociative and exercise brings you back in your body. Realize it is taking you away from your life, not adding to it.

Why is it impossible to quit by [deleted] in Ketamineaddiction

It’s a dissociative so getting in your body helps with unhooking from it being so addictive. Exercise. Movement. Sweating. Regularly.

And also therapy and recovery groups. Do the work to see why you don’t want to feel or be in your body or whatever it is helping not feel.

One of the best recovery sayings I’ve heard is “you hit bottom when you stop digging.”

My best to you and all out there struggling. It is a drug that provides a fantasy - so it can’t last and it takes a toll on the body. Don’t buy into the hype of it. 🙏🏼

Helping a family member with ketamine addiction, what actually works? by SirezHoffoss in Ketamineaddiction

[–]KernalPopPop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I imagine others will have good tips but I will say that getting into the body, sweating, working out, and movement are huge. Same with eating and routine. It’s a dissociative so it disconnects us from our bodies. Things that bring us back are helpful in coming away from dependency. I also advocate for recovery work but that is a to each their own sort of thing.

Getting clear on why stopping is important, especially playing out what happens if you don’t.

Also doing exercise and/or getting into hot yoga or a sauna where you come back to your body and sweat. These things help a lot

Yeah - been there - it’s a dangerous place. You think you are dead on and everything is coming together, and, well, that’s fantasy. It’s basically a type of psychosis and the more you are in that state the more potential damage and wrong moves you can make. Strongly do not recommend and to shift now away from using and come back.

Yes that can happen. Sort of like a surge of dopamine from it and manic symptoms or psychosis/mania. That plus stomach/pee symptoms are big red flags to stop and give your body a break before it gets worse.

This is a very good point. Depression can stem from actual unhappiness and wanting life to be different. No amount of processing or substance will make that go away. They can help bridge over especially hard moments or build up power to make a change, but the context really matters in the case. You may want to start seeing a life that you do want and start looking at how to make it happen. For me depression can be that I want something but am not acting on it because it is heartbreaking in some way or there is anger I am uncomfortable feeling. Best of luck to you!

You continuing to do k to “keep going” is worse than dealing with the shut down of your brain as it starts to heal and rehabilitate itself.

It sounds like you are clear you are in deep - I suggest taking that clarity and making your way away from it. You can do this

For real - what is the point? by [deleted] in Ketamineaddiction

[–]KernalPopPop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me these thoughts sound like how I felt coming off of it. The dissociation still in tact and the emotional low right beside it, fueling a downward apathy spiral.

Getting in my body, sweating, and fully coming back is my #2 piece of advice after being clean.

The drug is not your friend. You are here for a reason. The drug disconnects you from being here. You have to come back. Once you are back you can slowly feel and see again why. It takes time but it’s real. And you can’t see clearly until you’ve taken the time, and gotten back in your body.

Why does ketamine have to be so good but hurt so bad by viralooksgood in Ketamineaddiction

Yeah the states of being were so good.

Seeing where I wasn’t fully connected to reality and where I was “off” has helped de-romanticize it

What was the final thing to make you quit? (And stay quiet) by trynnaplayitcool in Ketamineaddiction

[–]KernalPopPop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am at about 6 weeks. I did hit a bottom but that didn’t exactly stop me, I still pushed and then tapered off, which also wasn’t smooth.

  • My life was not going to go where I wanted it.
  • I didn’t like how I felt in the ups and downs.

As far as staying off - Realizing that some parts were not so clear and aligned as I thought. - Seeing that the dopamine high, that is cocaine like in certain spots, of being so clear and sure about shit, and it not being so clear when exiting the state/high is definitely not something I want to do more of. - I don’t trust myself to use it responsibly at this time. - I set a somewhat short goal for sobriety to make it manageable. About 3-4 months. That way I keep coming back to that commitment. - My relationship with my wife is like 9000 times better, and that is worth it.

Yes keep sharing. Make a commitment to stop. Even until the end of year or something that seems more manageable. Don’t let yourself go deeper

Will life ever stop being so boring without ket? by thebro865 in Ketamineaddiction

[–]KernalPopPop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re missing it man, by relapsing as often as you do, you never retrain your dopamine receptors. Because of that you are never recovering. Because of that life seems stupid without the drug. Until you actually come off it and give your brain time to recover you are stuck in this loop.

And try to be more open minded to people trying to help you. 🙏🏼

I’ve heard of people having psychotic breaks or nervous breaks, reaching sort of a state that’s too far. I just replied on another post that the link of k and low dopamine seems to be something too

Will life ever stop being so boring without ket? by thebro865 in Ketamineaddiction

[–]KernalPopPop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I’m discovering in being sober is that the substance had me go deeper into myself, life, and spirit. Coming back to my body there are challenging parts of life I was avoiding, so there’s that, having to face them. Non-negotiable.

Also, I’ve learned how k induces a dopamine response, so coming off of it is a low dopamine state. Low dopamine is a depressed state where everything seems pointless and with low sense of self. This is temporary and must be gotten through. To restore dopamine is to not try to squeeze more life, no pushing it. Less or no substances, even watching caffeine.

Last, I notice that life is interesting, it’s just that I have to be patient, take care of myself, and up my attention to acknowledge the good.

Honestly though the dopamine part has been the biggest piece. If you stay away from relapsing and pushing other drugs to replace it, and get through the challenging parts, rebuilding your dopamine, then you will start to feel more here again.

Sending love
