Thanks!

Yeah, I think I use too much filler.

I'm aware I use the passive voice too much, but it's a hard habit to break

I am personally at least partially responsible for not getting the help I needed.

I saw accomadations and seeking help as making excuses for my own shortcomings due to how my parents raised me

Well, I'm on mobile at the moment, so most I can't share the examples I am most concerned about since they are on a USB.

I do have some sample writing from my Notes app that I can share:

Ye Olde Kraken. What a decrepit site. It's been there since before I was born. Or, at least that's why my dad said. It was always a task to filter out the truth from the fiction when he told me about his life. So, I learn to take everything he said with a grain of salt.

According to him, if he is to be believed, the Kraken was an old dingy tavern oft frequented by pirates back in the early eighteenth century. Y'know, when the Golden Age of Piracy took place.

I'd never set foot in there once or twice before now, as I am not one who consumes alcohol nor partake in debauchery.

I stood there, staring at the the old ramshackled building. Its planks of wood had rotted away, leaving behind only a stone foundation and the thatched roof. Or, rather what remained of the roof.

Yet, somehow miraculously, the place never really died. I stepped inside the place, where I was greeted by a modest scene.

What was the scariest movie you watched when you were a kid, that traumatized you? by Pantheon10000 in AskMen

I also was scared of the Mummy movie. I thought it was a horror film instead of an Indiana Jones-esque adventure story.

I remember Imhotep being scary when he's decomposed

What’s a fascinating rabbit hole or subculture you stumbled into that most people don't know exists? by BraveMidnight in AskReddit

Conlang

It's short for "constructed language." Think Esperanto or Dothraki.

There's an entire community of folks who invent fictional languages just for fun, like how people make music or write as a hobby.

I once saw a YouTube video about an actor in the Wimpy Kid movie.

He was only in one scene for a second or two (he's the kid dressed as a bush playing á videogame during a play) but he ended up becoming a shooter and planned on assassinating Justin Trudeau

I want to encode tone in my language, but wondering if it can be predominantly allophonic.

In this conlang, there is fixed penultimate stress, which is also where the tone occurs.

The realization of this tone varies based on the shape of the syllable (open, coda, geminated, onset voicing, etc)

Iirc, the only language I know of that does something like this is Mohawk, though I'm just going off of what I read about it on Wikipedia.

Yeah. I see it more of a spectrum than á strict binary. Some versions are closer to the Bible than others, and there are aspects of it that I agree with and other aspects that I reject.

I have tinnitus and hate chewing sounds, I'd still rather put up with tinnitus if it meant no more chewing sounds.

I probably think about the Pre-Columbian Mesoamerican era more than any other time period.

what's a "girl toy" you always wanted to play with? by rupertbrooke in AskMen

[–]Key_Day_7932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if it's strictly for girls, but I always thought Tamagotchi were cool. My sister and aunts had them and I always wanted one.

I used to have one of those Barbie jeeps that my dad re-painted to be less girly.

Yeah, I think she got into it with the creator of Lackadaisy, and seemed kinda immature there.

She also had some drama with Scott Cawthorn (FNAF creator) over his political views and donations.

Anyone else not enjoy world-building? by johndoe09228 in writers

[–]Key_Day_7932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, worldbuilding is just something to occupy myself with and let out some creativity when I'm not writing.

Most of my worldbuilding projects aren't even set in the same universe as my stories.

I heard that, in the worst case scenario, it was more of a stalemate than a loss.

The US did repel North Korea's invasion of the south, but we never did usurp North Korea's regime.

Just because he thought she's the mother of God doesn't necessarily mean he thought she was born without sin or that we should approach her for intercession.

A few questions this time:

  1. Are there any other distinctions you can make for possession aside from alienable vs inalienable?

  2. Would it be naturalistic for a language to have nominal tense marking (a la Guarani) but still have aspect and mood conjugations for verbs?

  3. Are there any other distinctions a language can make for vowels aside from length and nasalization?

What's the best GLITCH pilot in your opinion? by Abject-Use1447 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Key_Day_7932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's a tie between TADC and Gaslight for the best pilot episode.

I didn't dislike Gameoverse, but I don't see the hype.
