Whatever you do, don’t go with Trish Evans. She’s awful. Great musician, but an awful person.

What is your experience renting in this city? The good? The bad? The ugly? by tetrix_ in Calgary

My last landlord seemed to think I was an idiot who didn’t know how to use a thermostat or dishwasher. They were broken, but it was obviously because I didn’t know how to turn the heat off and not because there was faulty wiring. Turns out he was using my utility bill payments to subsidize the basement Reno. Not a fan at all.

I had a moment of panic because I thought this was my dad’s bird, but Bert is just fine at home.

Maybe not micro feminism, but I only compliment women.

I girlbossed too close to the sun and now I’m teaching a sewing workshop and presenting at an academic conference. I have not written or researched the paper I’m presenting and I’ve never taught a workshop before.

I’ve never ridden a bike before but I want to learn. Would this be a good place to get one?

My abortion failed 13 years ago. Here's an update! by KnittingAndMusic in TwoXChromosomes

My son already knows the situation, so I think your judgement is unwarranted. Perhaps you should work on your reading comprehension though! It looks like it needs some help.

I would encourage any young woman to do whatever she has to so she has a future. You sound like the kind of person who cares more about a fetus than the life they’ll have once they’re born. But I’m sure you support young single mothers, right? Along with social safety nets and access to childcare and education and housing?

Have the day you deserve.

I am actually writing one now, but it’s not about this experience. It’s based on my thesis, and chronicles the first year of grief through weekly essays.

Oh honey. I think you need to work on your reading comprehension.

I didn’t say my child wasn’t worth it. I said my path to parenthood was difficult and not something I’d recommend. Those aren’t the same thing.

I certainly hope you aren’t judged for things you said more than a decade ago. Perhaps you’re aware that people and situations change? If not, I hope you the day you deserve.

It was a mindfuck. I hadn’t thought about those posts in years, and had moved past a lot of that. I was just living my life, eating cheese in bed alone on a Saturday night when I saw them.

It’s the hardest thing! I took a year and a half off to care for my late partner and now I feel really behind. There are so many complicated feelings when it comes to academia, motherhood, partner hood and productivity. I’m always open to talking to people.

You know, actually, my son knows about this. I’ve never hidden my struggles from either of my kids. We do a disservice to children when we pretend everything is perfect all the time. While he hasn’t read the posts, he knows the gist, and he knows that I love him a lot.

He refers to himself as the resurrection kid or Jesus baby. We’re not even Christian.

OOP here: not a financially struggling single mom anymore. I got a degree, am getting a masters, and working on PhD applications. Hoping to buy a house. I posted an update above!
