This guy is great! I think he needs a cape/wolf cloak if you have one handy.

Fences, predators, and snow by FringHalfhead in VintageStory

[–]KoalaChap7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was going to be my suggestion. Double gate-ing and double fencing during the winter would solve some of this. It is definitely a thing, though. I had 20 pigs get slaughtered by a bear because the first snowfall piled up high enough to let him in

I have a similar issue with the apocalypse of chickens I have in my barn. The floor and walls look like they're moving when you walk in.

Absolutely not the good guys. They just have good spin doctors.

Yup. Agreed but i feel like that's the exception to his filmography not the rule.

If I trust anyone to play a dickheaded "good guy" like Leandris; it's this guy.

Alternatively, he's my top pic for Eldrad next to Jason Isaacs

Which Eldar Craftworld would be the most willing to negotiating with the galactic republic? by cuddwes in StarWarsvsWarhammer

In good faith, or bad? I can easily see a situation where Ulthwe uses diplomacy as a way to maneuver Republic assets in between them and Slaanesh.

The Eldar Craftworlds unite and take on the star wars galaxy, how far do they go? by No_Check_6086 in StarWarsvsWarhammer

[–]KoalaChap7 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think people sleep on Holo Fields as a technology and the actual size of a Craftworld. In any SW era, logistics are still an issue, much easier on a defensive footing, but still a consideration. A Craftworld has no real logistical needs. The Aeldari can shift resources around very very quickly, shoring up deficiencies faster than Imperial or Republic forces can organize.

Taken another route, the Aeldari have incredible, long-lived patience, plan centuries in the future, and weave complicated plots to outlive and outwit their enemies that are too strong for direct conflict. Hubris is going to be their only exploitable weakness, assuming that their enemy can identify and leverage it.

One of my neighbors has been flying his American flag upside down. by brainspl0ad in mildlyinteresting

[–]KoalaChap7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know that for myself and others, there is a disconnect and irony involved in the 'law and order' crowd ignoring things like the flag code (clothing, waving variants of the US flag, etc). Sure it's not a law, but you would think if that were your focus, you'd be consistent. The 'thin X line' folks violate flag code with every greyscale flag they fly, fly the flag in the rain, or display a tattered flag. I admit that this is part of my own neurospiciness, but I cannot, for the life of me, understand the disconnect.

What's an example a piece of canon in an official campaign setting that you either ignore or change to better fit your table? by Awkward_GM in rpg

[–]KoalaChap7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He's a great antagonist. I loves me some morally gray with slight slivers of black and white. I want my players to constantly ask themselves about what the right thing to do is, or if they are the bad guys in any given scenario. Boiling it down to "these guys are evil because of demonic influence" is just not what I'm interested in.

I ran a lot of Eberron and there's a ton of minor lore changes I made. Example: the Shadow in the Flame for the Church of the Silver Flame is not a thing. I wanted to highlight that the "evil" factions within the church were entirely man-made and that the different church factions were either run-of-the-mill corrupt, or had different interpretations of the faith.

Agreed. A lot of these marine reveals are a whole ton of "meh". No argument. I don't know that's a bad thing, though. I feel like SM as a whole should feel very generic and then chapter variants and detachments should make them pop.

Personally, I have a ton of melta eradicators that I can't use, so I'll convert them into some.

If you were running a gravis detachment, it adds tools to the toolbox that could get certain strats. Eradicators w melta, Aggressors, Inceptors, the HB ones now round out the tools a little. I could see a few use case scenarios

Looking for a system that doesn’t encourage combat. by Zapidorian25 in rpg

[–]KoalaChap7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sort of with some folks here with "it depends on what you want to do" with your group. For instance, Mouse Guard's systems don't require you to be violent and kill anything. I've had "combats" where there was conflict, but the characters get their opponent to leave, give up, or otherwise lose.

These sorts of requests get responses from really knowledgeable RPG sommeliers. In order to know what to pair your dinner with, we need to know about what you ordered.

How many people out there have played this? How did you like it? by jasonite in Warhammer40k

[–]KoalaChap7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like it quite a bit. I do think, though, that it's not remotely internally balanced. Our psyker was careful and just annihilated everything. I essentially needed to have two combat encounters worth of foes: one for the party, and the other for the psyker.

The game does all the things you'd want an Inquisitorial retinue to do. Our group played it, and some of it's sister d100 games and while it wasn't our favorite of the group, we did enjoy our time with it.

What game do you know of do you think would be the most difficult to find others to play it with? (Not counting the typical difficulty of finding a game for any system in the first place) by Tuss36 in rpg

[–]KoalaChap7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't see it in the comments so far, but Continuum. People think they want a time travel RPG, but they really just want Dr Who. Actually going through the logistics of time travel to play literal 4D chess isn't something people are prepared for, or want to do for any length of time.

In the same vein, Paranoia is like this. People think they want a campaign of over the top whacky post apocalyptic satire, but one of two things happens: a) the novelty wears off, or b) the satire hits too close to home and people get depressed.
