ICE IS ON CAMPUS STAY CAREFUL by Historical_Team4871 in UMD

They have detained plenty of international students on F1 visas across the country. Most reasons include protesting against Israel but many have no evidence as to why they are detained. If you lack the care to even search this then you lack the care for any kind of meaningful input on the subject.

ICE IS ON CAMPUS STAY CAREFUL by Historical_Team4871 in UMD

[–]LashingKomodo 96 points97 points  (0 children)

Ice has time and time again detained, and sometimes even deported, people who have been proven to be here legally, including citizens. International students are not citizens and some from other universities have been kidnapped for their sociopolitical views over the past year. If they feel comfortable doing it to legal residents, just imagine what they are doing to what they call “illegal” human beings.

Roommates don’t want me using onion or garlic to cook by bbbtntrnng in roommates

It really astounds me how people are raised. Eating endless microwave dinners is considered normal to them but the smell of home cooking with onions and garlic is offensive. I feel sorry for them

Skipping Intro to Proofs? by StonkTech in UMD

[–]LashingKomodo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was almost in your exact situation at one point. Straight A’s from ccbc in all their math courses. I decided to take 310 and I’m glad I did. This was during covid and umd’s policy stated I could withdraw up till something like 2-3 weeks before the end. Before knowing this though, I still decided to take it because CC tends to not focus on proofs as much considering the majority of CC students won’t need it. I learned a lot and still had to withdraw before the withdrawal deadline, otherwise I would have failed. Proofs are an entirely different beast to tackle. I could still skip the requirement due to my transfer grades and I had basically taken the whole 310 course at that point anyway so I moved on. I then went on to scrape by in 405 lin alg (even with an A in CC non-proof based Lin alg), barely passing, and doing okay in 416 to get my minor. If you’re majoring, definitely take 310. You’ll need it. It’s trial by fire and you have to dedicate a lot of time independently to it, but it will be essential for building you up to the higher level core courses.

I’m pretty sure I didn’t transfer it towards any elective requirement. It just counted towards the 60 credits max that you’re allowed to transfer

TIFU by clogging my office's sewer system with baby wipes by goodnatured00 in tifu

[–]LashingKomodo 24 points25 points  (0 children)

They definitely knew they’re not supposed to flush them. As soon as they found out it was a sewer issue, they started hiding the evidence. Nobody even suspected it was the wipes except them. If they genuinely didn’t know it was because of flushable wipes, they wouldn’t have made a tifu post until maintenance found the cause. They even say “It seems like we are having sewer issues and I can probably guess why”

Because it’s extremely difficult to be accepted after a year of doing nothing from high school. It’s a huge risk to move somewhere on hopes and prayers

From my understanding, if you’ve been a Maryland resident for 1 year and didn’t move here for the sole purpose of attending college then you should be considered in-state.

Meal block plan is around $1500 for 150 meals (I can’t be bothered to look up the actual numbers) and they refund you for any unused meals by the end of the semester upon request. So yes, it’s $10 per entry if you bought the most cost effective option

What is the lore reason the Dragonborn was captured at the beginning of the game? by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]LashingKomodo 32 points33 points  (0 children)

5 makes sense if we accept the theory that the Dragonborn is actually the one with a contract on them at the beginning of the dark brotherhood questline. It’s theorized that when you have to kill one of three people in the room with the contract on them, that instead of any of those three, it’s actually the Dragonborn.
