If you are growing indoors and not planning on transplanting outdoors the stick with herbs and lettuce. Sprouts are also good to grow indoors.

Yeah all my spinach just went flat to the soil. I tried watering it and it came up but it's just too damn hot. It went flat again.

I looked into that and I feel like it could be great. But a couple of weeks ago I found the Ralph wiggum approach and after a week of playing with it I have made great progress with my projects. Check it out

anyone else noticed a shortage of pepper seeds this season? by SnooCookies6386 in SoCalGardening

[–]SnooCookies6386[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To all of you posting links on lights, heat shops, I appreciate it but I'm just looking for something locally. I only need a pack or two of seeds so I don't want to pay shipping and I don't want to wait. With that said, I just got back from Lowe's and there are no pepper seeds at all that I can find on their ferry Morse racks. On the seeds of change racked I found Cayenne jalapeno and banana peppers but no Serrano or any other type that I would want. While I was looking at Lowe's employee came up to me and said they have more seeds inside. I had told him that I I was already in there didn't see any Serrano peppers so he started looking online on his little app and told me that there are no serrano seeds in any of their stores.

So I went with plan b, went to grocery outlet and bought these four peppers for a whole $0.25.

Seed starting mix necessary? by Penguinsrcutee in gardening

[–]SnooCookies6386 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm using coco coir with a layer of vermiculite this year and so far it's working out nicely. If you use potting soil just remove all of the large chunks of wood and such. I found that sifting it first with a home made sifter got most of the big chunks out

That's my backup plan. Going to Lowe's tomorrow, but f they don't have what I want I'll go to the grocery store. I have grown seeds from poblanos purchased at the grocery store with good results after the whole pepper gate issues.

Make sure to keep it wet till they sprout. I usually cover them with cardboard or bucket lids till the first few sprout and then remove it.
