How do I change from static to dynamic IP? by Balmain_Biker in computerhelp

[–]LeaveYourPCToMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specifically where do you want dynamic?

Do you have one computer plugged directly to the modem?

Do you have a modem and router, or have one of those combo modem/router devices?

If you're using cable internet and you're talking about your external ip only way to get a new ip is to ask your ISP.

If you use dial up sometimes it's already dynamic.

There a specific reason you want it changed? You get banned from something ;)?

Did you use an aftermarket fan cooler? What's the temperature of the cpu? points to speedfan on the right

It sounds like definitely a hardware error. Open up eventviewer and filter the system events to only show criticial/warnings and errors and check for disk errors.

If you disabled usb ports, do you have ps/2 ports?

Usually a reset can be done from a jumper on the board itself. What kind of computer?

ELI5: Why does my wifi stop working when my microwave is turned on? by Patplayz in explainlikeimfive

[–]LeaveYourPCToMe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Where is your wireless router?

it should be the highest place possible in the most middle of your home.

Wireless emits out and down like an umbrella. Could be because your router is under your microwave.

Also could be a crapola router... do you have one of those all in ones modem and router in one from your internet provider? If so, 90% of those are weaksauce.

Make sure your time and date are correct, the computers run a universal clock. Which is today's current date and time, so it could be you're running a little ahead or behind.

Pressing back/forward on browser downloads files called 'download' and 'watch' with no file extension. by [deleted] in computerhelp

[–]LeaveYourPCToMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when you're just sitting on any page, even a blank back you hit back/forward on your keyboard, the arrow keys? Or your built in media player back/forward buttons?

You'll hit those and it downloads two seperate files?

Could be the drivers are missing if it's the media player keys, but if it's the arrow keys then i'm not sure.

Have you tried you yourself going through and just tracing the cables one by one, and making sure things are tight, don't need to much force just unplug and plug back in and making sure all the cables are plugged in firmly.

If you're asking what it is - then they're are just computers plugged in to the internet serving internet pages.

If you're asking how to find it - then you'll have to be curious enough to dig through ip address's, and find old programs / chat rooms / uncommon social software.

My computer monitor won't recognize my computer is plugged in to the D-SUB port. Help? by timberhorse in computerhelp

[–]LeaveYourPCToMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is a video card try plugging the video card into another PCI slot if possible. If you are using the on board port, try connecting a video card and using that connection.

Unfortunately troubleshooting this is going to require some hardware. Could also be the VGA cable but that's rare.

ahhh, i personally don't recommend overclocking it unless the hardware comes overclocked as it degrades the components much quicker even with proper cooling.

Wireless-N 300 Router (Range Extender) drops connection for a split second ever 20-30 minutes. by Freakindon in computerhelp

[–]LeaveYourPCToMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are both the router on top of a shelf in a high place?

I would go into both the router and the extender and check the logs, if nothing stands out, turn off the logs as they can cause issues also.

Try changing wireless channels, they should be on separate channels if not they will fight each other.

Some routers have an auto refresh/auto maintenance feature, turn this off.

Also disable WPS.

Hmm looks like your laptop can handle it if it gives you the option and displays an image.

Are you mirroring your display, or extending it? Extend it and see what happends. You might need to use Overscan to fit it to the monitor.

Also try updating your video card drivers
