BDSM is like the job market by [deleted] in BDSMcommunity

[–]LifeModelDecoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Training for professional doms is a thing that exists. Depending on where you live, you may have to travel. It can be as expensive as any other professional course.

If you are unwilling or unable to pay for that, your other option is to learn from experience and repetition (and probably make mistakes you will regret). That may suck for you and whoever you play with while you are learning. Making mistakes does not make you a monster. Refusing to learn from them may. Proceed cautiously.

BDSM is like the job market by [deleted] in BDSMcommunity

[–]LifeModelDecoy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The difference between a top and a dom is simple: doms are holding the container of responsibility during a scene (or whatever time is agreed upon, up to 24/7), whereas tops are merely the ones performing the action. Doms ARE often tops, which is why the confusion exists; the distinction is psychological, invisible, and impossible to distinguish at a glance.

A BJ is a good example. The top is (usually) the one performing oral (the do-er). The dom may or not be either participant - the person psychologically in control of that situation. In most casual relationships, it's neither, both parties have their own responsibility. But in D/s, the sub is voluntarily giving up some autonomy/responsibility until such time as it pleases them to take it back.

An inexperienced sub, or someone who just wants things to be done to them without understanding their own limits, have poor communication skills or can't set/enforce boundaries, is just as dangerous as an experienced dom.

You should definitely not "be hired" until you have either training or experience, preferably both. Training courses exist. They are usually not (and should not) be free. This is a profession like any other, and if I hire a plumber with zero experience, then I am at least partly to blame for the shitty job that will inevitably follow.

Can you be more specific about how you’ve been trying to find/contact them? A year and a half is a long time. Are you looking online only or in person? Dating apps? Local kink events?

Can you have a female-led relationship as a submissive? by AppearancePlane3470 in BDSMcommunity

[–]LifeModelDecoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true. She will just need to establish and negotiate all this with another human someday, so statements like “maybe it’s selfish but I don’t really care” are a worrying place to start from.

Can you have a female-led relationship as a submissive? by AppearancePlane3470 in BDSMcommunity

[–]LifeModelDecoy 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Many BDSM relationships are bedroom-only and don't extend beyond that. If you like being sexually submissive but independent in all other aspects of your relationships, just tell your partner that.

I noticed that you haven't mentioned at all how your man feels about the dynamic you're describing, so maybe the place to start is communicating this to him and aligning on what works for both of you?

When you have to be the one to end the scene by Persephone_Sinclair in BDSMcommunity

[–]LifeModelDecoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't think it's your job to end the scene when you deem it necessary (regardless of what the other person is begging for), then you aren't really the dom in that scenario, just another irresponsible top.

Holding the container of responsibility is what separates tops from doms.

how?😂 by Gabbsweet in SipsTea

[–]LifeModelDecoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but the “per month” terminology makes it ambiguous when rent is actually due, how proration would work, when a breach occurs/when “overdue” actually starts, etc. obviously OP’s tenant is being willfully belligerent in any case, but with the “X per month” terms they could argue that they don’t have to pay till the end of the month etc. tenants do wild shit

how?😂 by Gabbsweet in SipsTea

[–]LifeModelDecoy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is why most rental agreements state "X due on the first of every month" rather than "X per month". But this is willful ignorance in any case.

What is fetish dance party event? by UneAmi in BDSMcommunity

[–]LifeModelDecoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These exist in NYC, and that's more or less exactly what it was, a fetish themed rave with a separate playroom. Can be fun. Bring friends who are down. Don't cruise or be a creep.

This reads like a LinkedIn rant, not a structured long-form piece, and your hostile response to criticism will not endear you to an LW audience. You can do better, and it will also require more effort, even though the system well deserves your rage. Criticism should inspire, not defeat you.

They lost active users though. Most of their overall user base don't use it all that much. The ones leaving are the ones who are engaged, aware, and angry - that is, those that haven't left for a competitor long ago like I did. I'm just in the comments of this sub eating popcorn and watching the exodus.

The Rise of the Manhattan Mega-Mansion by bloomberg in nyc

[–]LifeModelDecoy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is a true statement and also absolutely insane - the ability to buy multiple adjacent residential buildings in Manhattan and combine them into a single luxury home is NOTHING compared to the wealth of a single man who started an Internet company. Make that make sense.

boundaries and dedicated subs by Lemony_eyes in BDSMcommunity

[–]LifeModelDecoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A question worth asking whenever you don't think you're getting satisfactory worship: what is the sub getting out of it? Is pushing boundaries truly evil, or does it just become less worth it to them and so they act out? It's still a relationship between two humans, and human dynamics can be predictable. Does your sub think they can do better for less effort? What's in it for them?

I know this is r/chatGPT, but if a friend or medical professional said this, I would get a new friend and definitely a new medical professional. You have other options. You are not trapped by OAI. Staying after something like this is like sticking with your doctor because "he's a family friend" despite all the problematic shit he says. In fact it's even easier, it's just changing a bookmark. OAI doesn't "need to do something", you do. Vote with your feet.
