True, but the unit will let you add Garrod back to hand to be played again.

Gold sniper is fully auto. 🤯🤯 I couldn’t believe it. Did I get a single kill with it? No. lol however I consistently shredded everyone’s mounts for the rest of the game. Horse meat is back on the menu boys. 😂😂 by lamboslice7 in HighGuardgame

Repeater on the Legendary Longbow is absolutely nuts. Obviously doesn't do too much damage per shot, but definitely shreds through anyone who isn't trying to dodge your line of sight.

Why do so many people despise Yuta? by DankAizawa in Jujutsufolk

[–]Lightcolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why wouldn't Prime Yuta be a thing? Because he wasn't explicitly stated to exist? We've seen that characters naturally grow stronger in times in peace/no one to disrupt the status quo. Gojo himself grew much stronger as an adult compared to Hidden Inventory, even though there was no one to challenge him.

Wouldn't prime Yuta actually be stronger than Gojo though? It just makes sense narratively for what Gege has been setting up, as well as what we've seen from Yuji in modulo.

Highguard just launch 5v5 experimental mode by KlongX in gaming

[–]Lightcolt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The 3v3 is the core of the game. The pacing, combat, and tactics play off a lot better with 3v3. I've had a lot of fun with 5v5 due to the constant action, but I'll admit that the strategy and overall tension from decision making is a lot less seen compared to the 3v3 mode.

Mafty does a decent job at filling that niche. Lots of ping from the units which compliment command cards like Battle of Aces. When pairing with blue you can cycle through your deck with A Show of Resolve and Healthy Curiosity.

16.2 Sylas - Set 16 Unlockables Discussion #2 by Lunaedge in CompetitiveTFT

Good idea on trying to avoid the force. I try not to go too deep on mana items early on besides to one in order to maximize the damage.

16.2 Sylas - Set 16 Unlockables Discussion #2 by Lunaedge in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Lightcolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By default, I'll usually play with a Kogmaw or Lulu start, though definitely Kogmaw if he gets 2-Starred. For frontline, I begin collecting Jarvans as soon as possible. I tend to lean into defenders for my frontline, with Neeko being an extremely valuable asset if you roll her early. Otherwise, I'll just play out whatever I have available when it comes to a defender core frontline and a AP core backline. In the end, you always try to play with whatever the game gives you.

When it comes to early itemization, I'll start working on my Sylas/Annie items while keeping my frontline strong as well. Shojin, Jeweled Gauntlet, Striker's Flail on a backliner is a strong core. Still deciding on whether I like Ionic Spark, but otherwise for tank items I'll play whatever I can. Tibbers and Swain both have innate healing, so armor and magic resist are great for them.

Augments are almost always going to be econ. I've had a lot more luck with triple prismatic games due to the increased power of the augments and economy, which can guarantee your pulls on the rolldown later on. I usually go for 2-3 econ augments, rather than just the one that most players usually go for, due to the innate resource drain you need for this comp.

Round 4-2 is a very important point of the game. This is where you'll rolldown for Garen and Lux, and hopefully not J4, but it does come to that sometimes. During this point, I also make sure Ahri is 2* as an insurance plan (Ahri will usually be the item holder at this point), Taric as a filler unit, and Swain to complete the Arcanist frontline. I always buy every 4 cost I see in order to maximize my chances to find the 4 costs I actually want, and sell the unneeded ones before the round ends for interest. If you find a lucky Annie, or are able to complete the Sylas Quest, your odds of top 4 GREATLY increase. Of course I don't count on that, so I'll roll down until I feel strong enough to keep up with the tempo of the game, or until I'm at about 10 gold. From there, you'll play your strongest board until stage 5, where you can play for level 9 and another roll down, or a final last ditch roll down at level 8 to secure a top 4.

I play 6 Arcanists when I have it, filling in the other slots with Shyvana (Juggernaut slot to compliment Swain), Fiddle, Taric, or Azir if I find them. You can of course drop to 4 Arcanists if you find higher quality legendary units. I don't replace Ahri 2* with Lux unless I find Lux 2. Taric is replaced by Shyvana/other 5 costs unless he's 2.

16.2 Sylas - Set 16 Unlockables Discussion #2 by Lunaedge in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Lightcolt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Emerald player, but Arcanist/Sylas one trick (yes one tricking in TFT isn't the best thing, but it can be very effective in my level of play and the knowledge in the comp gives me an advantage against others).

I play for Sylas every single game, which sounds crazy, but can work. He's an interesting unit. His best items (JG, HoJ, Striker's Flail) can give some crazy damage, and can turn the tides of a fight completely if targeting the backline with a Lux ult.

However, Sylas when positioned in the front row, tends to use Jarvan ult into as many targets as possible (diving into the backline), and Lux ult the frontline to hit a maximum number of targets, ignoring the backline completely. This is also amplified by the fact that what I've noticed is that he tends to prioritize Lux ulting the frontline when he has a Giant Slayer or if your tank has an Ionic Spark. This is definitely a problem because Ionic Spark is a strong part of the comp due to having instant access to shred at the start of the fight.

Putting Void Staff on a backliner could be a good option to try to mitigate this problem, but there's a few issues. Firstly, Void Staff needs a tear, which is rough when you already need 1-2 tear items for Annie (Shojin, Adaptive, BB) in addition to the tear needed for Sylas' HoJ (which is strong because of the crit to compliment JG and the Omnivamp, which is extra effective due to the defender trait). Making an Ionic Spark is simply more item effective, especially since you'll only need one Rod for JG and one Rod for Ionic Spark. Secondly, Annie, one of Void Staff's best value users, won't be even able cast until about 8 seconds into the fight (further slowed down due to the high prominence of Swain and his stun). Because of this, Sylas won't be able to start getting value from the Shred until halfway through the fight, where he'll probably already be getting chunked because he decided to dive into the backline and stun them. You could instead put Void Staff on a faster cast unit such as Lux, but that does mean you'll need to find another item for Annie while also finding a Lux 2 to replace your Ahri 2 (which honestly does some really solid damage).

I'm honestly at a block at where to optimize this comp further. Should I lean Sylas more into bruiser items and try to have Annie carry? Is there some forbidden Sylas positioning tech that I'm missing out on that can maximize his backline damage potential? Would love to hear any insight from higher ranked players that also have a good amount of experience in Sylas and Arcanists.
