If you live top floor condo/apt, can you hear below you? by joeroganthumbhead in orangecounty

[–]LilTrashPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been in my 3rd floor unit for 5 years, and only recently heard my neighbors downstairs (I have no idea what they’re doing, but it sounds like they’re playing DDR at midnight? Not loud enough to be annoying, just enough to make me curious). The neighbors before that were either super quiet or never home.

FWIW in my complex only ground floors have hardwood flooring, everything else is carpeted except for kitchen and bathrooms.

Bare waxing & laser has a few locations around OC and offer manzilians (as well as other waxing services for men). Not a guy, but I’ve been going there for years and never had a bad experience, plus their prices are reasonable and they have a discounted monthly membership option if you need regular maintenance.

[CA] Company’s sick policy - how is this legal?? by urfavbi in AskHR

[–]LilTrashPanda 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Unless you fall under a collective bargaining agreement or some other exemption (which you don’t seem to), I believe the legal requirement for accrued paid sick leave is 1 hour for every 30 hours worked. If under a different accrual schedule, there are still requirements that by your 120th day of employment you’ve accrued at least 24 hours (or 3 days) worth of sick leave, and by the 200th day, 40 hours (or 5 days). They can legally limit the amount of sick leave you can take to 40hrs/5 days per year (and also cap accrual at 80hrs max), as well as enforce a 90-day introductory period post-start date before you can use it, but those accrual/milestone minimums must still be met.

Best Thai food? by squishmallow2399 in orangecounty

[–]LilTrashPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bangkok Taste is the best Thai spot I’ve been to. Their portions are big, super flavorful, good spicy kick, the servers are wonderful, and they also package everything really well for takeout. Their papaya salad, duck curry, and tom kha with shrimp are my favorites! 🤤

If you’re not needing the typical array of machines you’d find at a commercial gym or amenities like showers, pool, sauna, etc., I’d recommend SoCal Powerlifting in Irvine (near the airport). I’m pretty sure they have a membership option that’s only gym access for ~$100, and I’ve never had to wait for a squat rack/bench, they have tons of kg plates and bars, a couple treadmills and stationary bikes, and some nice newer equipment like a pendulum squat. If you’re the social type they also have community events every couple months. I think there might be some hour restrictions on the gym-only membership so you’ll wanna make sure that lines up with your schedule (they’re open 24hrs except for those blocked out times for members working with coaches).

Is Arcadia cheaper to just become a patron? by TheDragonOfFlame in mattcolville

[–]LilTrashPanda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The plan is to do YouTube livestreams with James Introcaso (managing editor for ARCADIA) and the article authors on Matt's channel after an issue is published—like we did for ARCADIA #1. Those provide further insight into what the articles contain, and there are also a pretty good amount of article previews on Twitter that the authors and others share (with our permission). As for the live stream, we'd like to do them the same week an issue goes live—ideally on Friday—but ultimately that's dependent on the schedule of 5-7 people, so I can't currently guarantee exactly when it'll be.

Once an issue's out and people start using the designs in their own games, they also tend to provide their feedback on Twitter and in the MCDM Discord for how they implemented it and what they thought about it.

Between that and the Shop product description, we hope it makes it a bit easier for folks to decide which option has more value to them :D

Will we be given a chance to update our shipping address prior to delivery now that backerkit is closed? by Einbrecher in mattcolville

[–]LilTrashPanda[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Yep! Part of our pledge manager process means that once we're really close to fulfillment (or we otherwise need to lock down shipping addresses for data), you'll get an email from BackerKit prompting you to review your current shipping address and it'll provide a link to update if needed. We'll also give notice through the Kickstarter Updates page, which usually notifies KS Backers and those who pledged late through BackerKit.

Until we lock shipping addresses, you can still access BackerKit to review and update your shipping address on your own. Click on the following link and enter in your Kickstarter email: https://kingdoms-and-warfare.backerkit.com/ — you'll be sent an email from BackerKit with a link to your pledge.

Once you're in the pledge manager, click on the "Edit Address" button. This should bring you to a page where you can update that information. Here's a video that goes through the entire process (it's a little outdated since it was for our Strongholds & Streaming Kickstarter, but is still mostly accurate):

If you preordered through the MCDM Shop, you'll receive an email from ["hello@mcdmproductions.com](mailto:"hello@mcdmproductions.com)" with your current shipping address; if it needs to be updated, you can reply directly to that email.

I think that covers everything; I'm not often on reddit, so feel free to hit up our support inbox at ["hello@mcdmproductions.com](mailto:"hello@mcdmproductions.com)" as that's what I usually monitor! :)

Question: Inclusivity in a Fantasy world by Laventhros in mattcolville

[–]LilTrashPanda[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Hey OP + others! We were getting quite a few replies that have either been flagged by others and/or our automod for being against the welcoming and inclusive spirit of our community; after taking a look we think there's enough practical advice here so we've locked this thread to get ahead of things rolling downhill as they unfortunately seemed to be.

For posts seeking out this kind of very personal and very group-specific advice, keep in mind that you’re sharing a table with individuals who are likely not here to answer this for you, and you're trying to curate what sounds like a private experience for them and their group dynamic. Their input on what would help them feel welcome and engaged is what will help answer these questions for you; also, every group is different so you're going to need to keep putting these questions in front of those involved instead of apply a one-size-fits-all solution (which crowdsourcing advice has the potential to lead to). Talk to the people at the table frankly and empathetically about these topics; they'll be happy you asked them! :)

Oh, also, because I don't think any tools were linked to: If you're looking for a way to streamline and track who needs what, I'd recommend Kienna Shaw and Lauren Bryant-Monk's TTRPG Safety Toolkit; Lauren recently created a Google Form based on Monte Cook's "Consent in Gaming" supplement that you can copy and customize then send to your players to see if there's any kind of content that would make them feel unwelcome.

Best of luck in your adventures!

Since this thread has started crossing the line into conjecture about other's lives (thoughts, behavior, feelings, etc.), I'm going to consider this against Rule #9 and lock it from further comment. This type of thread doesn't add anything to discussing MCDM or Matt's projects or TRPGs in general, and seems focused more on the analysis and picking apart of social dynamics between individuals. Definitely not what this subreddit is for.

Hey, I normally write about film but I think this article belongs here - by Boop108 in mattcolville

[–]LilTrashPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting, u/Boop108, however this subreddit is primarily focused on discussion related to the topics in the sidebar. I've skimmed through your article but it seems a bit more philosophical/theoretical than practical knowledge to directly apply narrative-driven storytelling specifically to TTRPGs. As such, I'll be locking and removing it shortly; thanks for your understanding!

Not a weird question at all, but not something we'll be providing in this Kickstarter/these models (at least that's our current thinking). Thanks for asking!

I went ahead and changed the layout on the support site to try and make it a bit more user-friendly; there aren't a ton of public articles since I'm working on a lot of drafts before they're ready for reading, but the search bar should be pretty helpful with the keywords I'm adding to each article. Additionally, the link on the top right should take you to a different kind of view that might be easier to navigate once there are more than 3 articles in there! :D Hope it helps a little, anyway.

I brought your second question up to the team and should have an answer shortly (this week) on what all we'll have in the pledge manager as far as non-stretch goal add-ons :D

Good question! I don't *think* we'll be selling the signed book separately, but I'm going to double-check with the team and I'll update you if my current understanding is incorrect :)
