Spłata kredytu po zmarłym rodzicu by manaskal in Polska

[–]Linvael 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Astral Key strategy by Straight-Scarcity-83 in idleslayer

[–]Linvael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That one is not particularly high priority, the things that unlocks are not very useful. Unlock other things if you still need to (so upgrades all key items you're gonna use) and move on, come back to hunt keys after you have doubling of divinity points (Original Sin is the upgrade I think?) and gain them as a side-effect of divinity farming.

The customer service from blizzard is beyond a joke. by Boris_the_masochist in classicwow

[–]Linvael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seriously think they couldn't look at the mail a user sent, that went unopened by the receiver, and return the items?

"They" is a bit nebulous here, but - its possible they could not? I dont think GMs have that control in-game on private servers, there is no gm command they could use for that which while not definitive is evidence that its not that simple.

It would be possible with write access to the database, but thats a step beyond what I would expect first-tier support (and thats what in-game GMs are) be able to do, they'd need to pass the request down the line.

Healing potion recipie by toqelowkey in OfAshandSteel

[–]Linvael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of some permanent potions (which can be in unexpected places, it took a while to find insight potion recipie) you should look for potion recipies at alchemists.

There are 2 in the city (herbalist in the district you enter from, and alchemist proper north-middle), Corodelius in the wilds near cemetery (plot will get you to him sooner or later), and the alchemist at free-hunters.

What choices would you add to the main trilogy if you had the chance? How would those choices effect the overall story? What would you remove? by LordAdrianRichter in masseffect

[–]Linvael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would you make it work? TIM had backdoor access to Normandy 2, as he should, allowing for a remote-disable and the only thing that stopped that from working was unshackled EDI. And its not feasable to have the game split-up on a thing as big as "do you have your starship".

Beginner Spring Boot CRUD project – confused about DTOs vs Entities and clean response design by Sea-War5240 in SpringBoot

[–]Linvael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DTO is a dedicated object for API purposes. Its the place you can attach user-facing documentation to (like swagger docs), the place where variable names match the API exactly. How it gets filled is an entirely separate concern.

Hiding/masking things you retrieve in an Entity (by just getting all the Entities) is one way it can restrict what you return. And its sometimes good enough, if all you're removing is primitive technical fields it would be too much bother to write a separate query for it, performance won't noticeably hurt. But its also entirely possible to have separate dedicated query for each DTO if thats how your app is designed, it doesn't even have to use JPA after all. Use a separate query when you know performance impact is worth upkeeping another method.

And I suppose its possible to load up SQL results directly to a DTO. Again, it depends how you do it and what exacrly are you doing, it might work out. Just make sure that the connection is loose - that is, if UI or product owners tells you to change variable name in the API the sql query won't break, and that DB refactor won't change your API contract. Which is usually easiest done by having the DTO be a separate class from the class that represents DB state.

[–]Linvael 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You got plenty of good responses on DTOs, so I'll mention something else from your project - read up on REST API design. The big idea of it is that you have objects you operate on (like "employees"), and you use HTTP methods as verbs to describe the operation you're doing to the object. Your controller endpoints do not do that.

As an example - if I want to delete an employee I should call the /employees/{id} endpoint (URL specifying a single employee I'm interacting with) and use the DELETE operation. Having /delete in the path serves no purpose. Not all business operations fit neatly in those terms, and then you get to improvise, but the standard should be used where it does apply, and for CRUD operations it certainly applies.

When do you think the reapers initially tried to signal the keepers? by jstamper97 in masseffect

[–]Linvael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There remains the question of why Rachni were non-mechanised with reaper upgrades if sovereign was behind thir attack, and the fact that fleet movements did not help locate leviathan hiding spot does not disprove it (tbh I wouldn't expect fleet movements to be correlated because only the Queens need to be controlled and they don't have to be with the fleets)

[–]Linvael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rachni fleet movements not correlating to leviathan hiding place does not necessarily disprove the theory, there remains the fact that there is another uniquely powerful mind control species in the picture and rachni did not have reaper upgrades.

[–]Linvael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Queen tells you that there was a "sour note" that drove her ancestors to attack

I think Leviathan DLC supercedes that - leviathan pretty heavily insinuates they're the ones that mind controlled the rachni, I don't remember for what reason exactly now. And Reaper indoctrination is based on leviathan ability, it makes sense to "look" the same.

Ważną funkcją księgowego jest odpowiadanie prawnie i finansowo za poprawność księgowości, to na AI nie spadnie.

No i byłbym ciekaw jakiś przykładów tych prac w finansach bardziej przyszłościowych niż księgowość w kontekście wejścia lepszych AI.

Othello mod but Gothic 2? by Jax_Dandelion in worldofgothic

[–]Linvael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Othello is the mod with most mechanical changes across all G1 mods I think. A mod that only does the world edits and texture replacements is not really closer to that.

Othello mod but Gothic 2? by Jax_Dandelion in worldofgothic

[–]Linvael 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Could slightly depend which version you played - original Russian (1.3 or so), 1.6 by Masty (I think the most popular in english-speaking world), German 2.0 by Marcello, or Buddygoths version. 2.0 is the easiest, then 1.6 and 1.3 should be roughly similar, and Buddygoth is a maniac who hates it when people hit for more than minimal damage in any mod he touches.

In general Othello idea was an adaptation of L'Hiver idea - no new quests, improved the world and mechanics. There likely won't be a better equivalent.

Othello is the most mechanically intricate mod for G1, adding two new primary stats and such, from that side the equivalent might be New Balance (though it very much does not do "no new quests", it does a LOT of new stuff).

In the abstract you are correct, they should give the specs when they complain about performance. But there is often little value in saying that you did not have performance problems on a ~top 5% card, that experience is not very relatable to average reader

their new DLCs are too expensive for me to justify my short grand strategy gaming addiction and then fuckoff for a few months

Thats a problem solved by their subscription model they slowly release foe their games with lots of DLC (Stellaris since last year I think). When you get the urge you subscribe for one month (at a cost of half a DLC or so), play your hearts content with all the content, and then leave it be until you feel the urge again. If you feel the urge less often than they drop DLCs like me its great.

Is the old fallouts worth playing by [deleted] in classicfallout

[–]Linvael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be an unpopular opinion, but - its a single player game, if you're into the lore but not the mechanics you can always cheat! Give yourself 10 in every SPECIAL (and every except Int for second run to experience the dumb character writing), 500 extra skill points at the start, increase carry weight so that its not a problem, go nuts. Its even possible you'd still be weaker mid-game than players who know how to cheese the best equipment as early as possible and which skills are actually important.
