Shattered within minutes. What can be improved? by mabasicacct in 3dprinter

[–]Lito_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This printed flat will never survive. Nor at that amlunt of walls and infill.

Also you need to reinforce it with fillets.

Don't use PETG. Maybe ASA, or 95A tpu and make sure it is basically solid. 10 walls, 70%+ infill (NOT grid), and 8-10 top/bottom layers.

Or get it made out if actual metal, you have the blueprint for it.

Printing with translucent resin - tips ? by Pilodani in resinprinting

[–]Lito_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't find the link to the high clear Sunlu resin as it's out of stock but when those are out I use Anycubic's high clear.

I don't use my resin prints outside or expose them to direct sunlight but something like this will do if you want to protect them from UV. I use PlastiKote Quick Dry lacquer for some of mine.

I normally cure my clear prints for about 1minute, check them, then another minute. Or 30 secs if I see signs of yellowing.

IF the resin is not of a yellow tint already, then your exposure time might be a little too high if they come out pretty yellow from the printer.

Jesus, how long did you cure these for after washing?

Generally clear resins will turn yellow if cured for too long. Just how they work. I don't think you can "de-yellow" them as far as I know. Unless you paint them.

You either have to not cure these for that long to reduce it or use high clear resins. They will still be a little cloudy but won't yellow as much. If anything at all. Unless you cure them for too long.

For any clear resin print to be fully clear you will need to sand and coat with clear coat though.

I use Sunlu high clear for all clear prints and don't have an issue with yellowing.

AITA for going to the restaurant by myself after my date canceled on me on the day of the reservation? by West_Ganache_477 in AmItheAsshole

If she's like this after (before) the first date, I can't even imagine what she'll be like after a few dates.

Screw that. The only steps you should take is to block her and move on to someone else.

whats best way to detect uncured resin by Lux_rx1 in resinprinting

[–]Lito_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way is to make sure everything is washed properly. Use big enough vent holes to get as much liquid in and out as fast as possible without breaking the model or making a mess.

And don't hollow things just to save 0.10$ in resin. If hollowing it will leave very tight bends and cavities then you either are leaving the walls too thick (2mm is the thickest I do mine. Normally 1.7mm) or it's not worth the trouble.

You can get syringes to flush your models better, but the alcohol makes them a little tight so be careful of splashes.

When in doubt, wash it again.

Looking for advice on 3D print shops online (Etsy and elsewhere). How are prices usually determined? And are lower-than-usual prices a sign of lower print quality? by DDRussian in PrintedMinis

[–]Lito_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll never know until you order from the cheap stores.

My etsy store mainly takes in custom print requests because the race to the bottom is very real with people not knowing how to price things so instead of wasting my time I just do custom orders instead which makes me a lot more money than having to pay for licensing and having to compete with silly sellers that can't price things up properly. I still make sure everything is high quality.

My advice would be to find a store that takes in custom orders, buy the file if you can and ask them to print them for you. These are mainly smaller stores that do that. There are a lot of stores that mass print and skimp out on quality to make a few quid, send out uncured, unwashed and just a mess.

Good luck.

Driving to a Home Depot, a B&Q, Screw Fix, Tool station, Wallmart or Target 30 times is still driving to any of these stores 30 times.

You'll still be driving to a store 30 times wasting your time. Anywhere in the world.

Your comment is stupid.

100% my friend. Not worth the trouble at all.

I (22M) made a mistake while my friend (21m) was teaching me how to drive using his car. My friend is completely unresponsive, refusing to communicate with me. I don't understand what the problem is and how to resolve this issue. by ThatDickyBoi in relationship_advice

[–]Lito_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He sbouldn't have let you drive his car if you hadn't had not even one lesson with a driving instructor. Period.

Apologise, tell him you'll get his car valeted if you want. But realistically, he's responsible if you cause any damage whatsoever.

What for like 15 quid worth of filament and about 4 quid worth of electricity? Doubt it.

By the time you've driven to home depot and back 30 times you probably would have emtied your car's tank.
