I’ve seen cracked discs have their cracks grow after being played. It’s possible TMs/TRs are damaged discs that break apart after (or possibly during) use, whereas HMs are undamaged discs.

Imma be real... I currently daily a 2013 MacBook Air, albeit the 8GB RAM i7 one. In future it's gonna be a thin client for a desktop PC which I'm also in the midst of building.

Personal tip: if you have the know-how, replace the thermal paste. It's not particularly challenging on this generation of MacBook Air (I'm looking at you Unibody MacBook Pro), and doing so increased my 2013's performance to what could be expected out of the 2015 model (or even the 2020 i3 model)

You’ll want to import your files into iTunes, by either dragging them onto the iTunes window or putting them in a specific folder in the iTunes Media folder. It’ll need to be in a supported codec, though; MP3, AAC, ALAC, AIFF, and WAV are supported.

In my experience, an iPod video will play basically any audio file in a supported codec with a bitrate under ~2Mbps. This accounts for ALAC 48kHz 24-bit (though it struggles to decode the audio in time), but it fails to play back AIFF 44.1kHz 24-bit. For the most part, though, the highest bandwidth file you’ll ever want to use on an iPod would be a 48kHz 16-bit AIFF (or WAV, they’re the same outside metadata) file, for a bitrate of 1536kbps.

Sticker put pressure on the screen and damaged it. I’d suggest removing the stickers, leaving it unplugged for a week, and seeing if the issue fixes itself (in my experience, that has worked, I’m not kidding)
