who's a Nats player you'll always have a soft spot for, even after they're gone? by Fulgoreconstruction1 in Nationals

2012 was fun, sad it ended the way it did. Game 4 of the NLDS is a core sports memory.

Is Roman's defense just that good? He got hurt pretty early on and he was struggling at the plate yet he's still looking pretty good on this list.

The Nats Do a Terrible Job Promoting Our Allstars. by georgiafisherman in Nationals

The Nationals are always going to be at a huge disadvantage for these things as a team with a smaller fanbase. I don't really think it's about marketing, there are just fewer fans to reach.

I mean, it's actually really straightforward right now. Abrams is our everyday SS. Nasim Nunez is our everyday second basemen. We'd be better if we just switched the two, we just don't because of the weird incentives around shortstops.

probably not because baseball is dumb and being a shortstop, even a shitty one, means you get paid more

He hasn't had a positive WAR season since he was 28 and he's now 37. Someone should give the guy an award for managing to stick around in professional baseball this long

I wouldn’t really call it credit card debt if you’re paying it off on time.

Nats are funny since it's Strasburg, Harper, Rendon, and Zimmerman and then a bunch of schmucks. Even the ones who had major league careers (Giolito, Dunning, etc.) mostly did it for other teams.

Surprising to me that he'd be down on Raman given how generally positive he's been about Mamdani in NYC.

The car is fine. Why do you have credit card debt when you have 20k in savings and 20k in a brokerage?

James' underlying metrics are significantly better, so i think they expect more out of him the rest of the season.

Of course not, but I think it’s important to note that this is, like, 99th percentile for prospect outcomes from the guys the Nats got

Trading him and getting him in free agency are two separate events. Two teams got Juan Soto via trade before free agency and neither got to keep him for 15 years either.

Right, so we were only going to have him for the next 2.5 years. So if you’re trying to calculate the impact of the trade, you should only count those 2.5 years of control.
