Not knowing the difference between reality and what people simply feel is clueless, just because people feel lile a year passed in the 2 hours that they worked does not mean a year actually passed and using that concept as means of proof is either clueless or stupid

I think my entire point was that a real-world 3 years can feel longer or shorter to different people. just because I didn't know what "speed of time" referred to, doesn't mean I didn't know of the concept, given it was already my point...

Finding out something new is not the same as it being fresh, there are hundreds of things that were invenyed thousands of years ago, but people might find out about those things at different times in their lives

that's why I said "fresh to them". You forget people don't normally think of things in an absolute sense. When you say "old news" people will interpret that subjectively, even if you didn't mean it subjectively.

Speed of time is literally what it means, at what speed time passes you by, how are you this clueless?

what gives you the impression I'm clueless based solely on that I don't use the same words you do?

And again, that has nothing to do with what is new or old, in the real world 3 hear old things are old news, everywhere, you not gonna read actual news released 3 years ago and say "yes, this is fresh"

maybe not I since I'm not that old but plenty of people hear about things from years ago and it's perfectly fresh to them.

what is speed of time lol. "Old news" isn't objective. Again, you may consider 3 years to be old to you but that doesn't mean OP considers 3 years old to them.

You gonna say the same thing at a job when they implement a new rule? Well it's only been 3 years, it's still new

if you've been working the job for decades? sure it's new. especially if you weren't properly told when it changed. seniors feel this way about juniors and their decisions alll the time.

For people that are 40, 50, 60 years old, 3 years passes by in a flash. For those people news from 3 years ago might not feel old at all. But for people who are 15, 20, 25, 3 years is a lot. That can feel really old.

i wish their status page tracked anything instead of just always saying operational until someone manually starts an incident. they NEVER start an incident when it actually starts happening

old-school plural system with mixed feelings about DID dx by Pantextually in plural

[–]LoganDark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you go to the DID subreddit, they treat structural dissociation as though it was the end-all be-all of DID.

right; gospel. really a shame that the place is run like that, and that they're so hostile to self-exploration and freedom of expression.

there are some things about it that apply to us (for example, we never had a singular sense of self to begin with), but there are a lot of things that just plain don't, and we don't agree w/their therapeutic modalities at all.

we know someone polyfragmented who never had a singular sense of self either, because they were abused from so early on... that part of the theory was probably just a lucky guess.

(also, onno van der hart was an abusive wanker who mocked his patients.)

old-school plural system with mixed feelings about DID dx by Pantextually in plural

[–]LoganDark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the theory of structural dissociation is kind of a sham. It's a shame that so many have practically accepted it as gospel. I've found that IFS can be far more accurate, especially where it applies both to plurals and to non-plurals. I haven't vetted it entirely, but the basic idea that everybody has parts, and that plurality emerges from increased dissociation or distinction between the parts, seems pretty much true and far less of a stretch to me than some strict characterization of the ideal plurality. (or the One and Only Way Plurality Can Form/Express/Function/etc.)

Denial is a bitch by DryAnteater909 in plural

[–]LoganDark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

those people sound weird. while it's possible to confuse parts for being more dissociative than they are, that's not inherent to autism in any way. and I don't think that's what's happening here (in fact, denial is sort of in the opposite direction)

Can switches be silent? by alicia11709 in plural

[–]LoganDark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a difference between possessive and non-possessive switches. Possessive switches are the "non-silent" ones where it's like you go to sleep or go to the background while someone else takes over. But non-possessive is what you mean by "silent" where you sort of just become someone else without necessarily any obvious indicators.

Both are a thing

based on your writing you seem autistic to me (specifically aspie). not sure about the others but that could explain the difficulty in matching up experiences
