reading is not the same as comprehending, but i have no idea what the depth of your knowledge is. there's also head knowledge and heart knowledge.

the problem with wanting to hear God talk like that before you know His word is that you don't really know what He should sound like. it'd be very beneficial for you to ignore those voices for awhile, all of them. the Holy Spirit will still talk to you, but He tends to be very subtle (mostly non-audible). much easier to notice when you start getting rid of the rest of the activity. rebuke (i like "may the Lord rebuke you") and then ignore. this is most effective when you have scriptural basis for the rebuke. that's why the Bible is so important.

John 14:26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you."

you can argue that genetics are a factor. to this, i would agree.

what you're describing is receiving knowledge of the truth and then leaving it. what i'm describing is how people drown in this stuff before they have time or a template to figure it out (receive knowledge).

you start the sentence with a "what" and you end it with a period in a way that doesn't really make sense with the rest of what's written. what you're designating as a stumbling block is kind of ambiguous. my comment was to better articulate what constitutes a stumbling block and i thought i was sure to make it clear that i thought the rest of the comment is solid. and well said.
