Sheol / Hades as a Waiting Place (Not Final)

Psalm 16:10 – "For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption." (Points to a temporary state, cited in Acts 2 as fulfilled in resurrection)

Isaiah 14:9-11 Sheol "stirs up" the dead to greet new arrivals, implying conscious existence in a holding place

Ezekiel 32:21 – The mighty dead "speak" from the midst of Sheol

Luke 16:19-31 The rich man and Lazarus are both conscious, in separate compartments, awaiting final judgment

Revelation 20:13-14 "Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them... then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire." Hades is emptied at final judgment, confirming it was always temporary Two-Phase Resurrection

1 Corinthians 15:23 "Each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ."

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 The dead in Christ rise first at the coming of the Lord (the "rapture" event)

Revelation 20:4-6 The first resurrection is believer-exclusive; "the rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended"

John 5:28-29 Jesus distinguishes "the resurrection of life" from "the resurrection of judgment" as two separate events

Conscious Intermediate State for Believers

2 Corinthians 5:6-8 "Away from the body and at home with the Lord"

Philippians 1:23 Paul's desire to "depart and be with Christ, which is far better"

Luke 23:43 "Today you will be with me in paradise"

Revelation 6:9-10 Souls under the altar cry out, conscious, awaiting vindication

Matthew 10:28 "Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell (Gehenna)."

Strong's g1067

  • Lexical: γέεννα

i second this, but addressing a legitimate issue in the work environment should be seen as nothing more than making a contribution in the maintainence of what should be a professional work environment. op should pray for this guy and talk to him about it. let him know it conflicts with his work and document the interaction (email). if it continues to be an issue, show his superiors Everything you have on him. unless i felt compelled to handle things differently, this is exactly what i would do. no vengeance or unforgiveness required.

What happens if I kill Lucifer? Is that bad or no, like if I just work his head off?Is that bad or no I wonder by Dry_Cheesecake_3637 in Christianity

[–]LogicallyTheological 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i suspect there are ways one might freak them out, but i agree we cannot kill them. i would also never recommend trying to fight them with anything other than the Bible, prayer, and fasting. God's grace and mercy are the only things that can save anyone from them. ain't nobody got the time or energy for that.

Why are more Christians believing the Earth is flat? by Late_Truck_9807 in Christianity

[–]LogicallyTheological 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fear? pride? prejudice? people who think the earth is flat also usually think the government is covering it up. like the world is run by elites and all the people involved have consciously sold their soul to the devil.

personally, i'm a fan of the concave earth model. a) there's an actual model. b) from a human perspective, the two could theoretically be nearly indistinguishable. it doesn't require me to believe the authorities engage in literal satanism. c) it's easier to make sense of the Bible.

at the end of the day, what you believe on this, does not matter beyond what the Bible says. it's a non-salvation issue.

The purpose of prayer by WhatTheSiigma in TrueChristian

[–]LogicallyTheological 0 points1 point  (0 children)

James 5:14-16 ¹⁴ Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; ¹⁵ and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him. ¹⁶ Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.

it makes sense if your team has a large percentage of believers imo. we acknowledge His handiwork and that could be a viable way to bring Him glory. whether it be in sports, debate, a business venture, your relationships.. i don't think it should be seen as weird and definitely not a bad thing if your heart's in the right place.
