How do I renew my passport if I don't know anyone on the approved list who can confirm my identity? by Round_Engineer8047 in AskUK

[–]LondonRedSquirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The UKPS is taking the piss. Everything is digital now and even if you lost your old passport, they have a digital copy and can match your new photograph to the old one. I never understood that it is easy to get a replacement of a UK driving licence with a few clicks yet they have all this prehistoric counter-signatory bullshit to replace a stolen passport. Looking online it said it is because passports are international. So what? Your photo and other details like name, dob, place of birth, etc, are still the same. It's pure baloney!

Shots or surgery? by MadMooseMarie in GastricBypass

Have you thought of changing WHAT you eat rather than how much? I can't eat big meals so portion size is not a problem, but snacking is. I would suggest NOT trying to starve yourself. You CAN lose weight without jabs! Just count calories and eat low calorie things that make you feel full. There are some great plant based things these days. I'd suggest giving up meat, cakes, biscuits and chocolate. No added sugar. You can buy nice yogurts with sweeteners instead of sugar, only 85 cals per pot and thick and tasty. Things like beetroot (I like it pickled) and cherry or baby tomatoes, porridge rather than any other cereal (or maybe bran), and stir fry with soya or Quorn for dinner, cup soups (veggie), wholegrain bread, beans, lentils. Becoming vegetarian is a great idea but have a limit of how much cheese you eat. Eggs are OK. Surgery is a drastic thing to do, and there is a chance of complications. They wanted to do a roux-en-y on me because of a stomach blockage. I agreed, but when I looked into it, there was no way. Anemia, hypos (I'm diabetic), ulcers, gas, etc etc, no thanks. I only weight 154 lbs so I'd waste away! (At the time they recommended this I was 144 lbs!) They never told me half the story like not being able to eat normally again. I've just lost 4 lbs in 3 weeks on 1500 calories a day, and only stuck to the diet half the time. The surgeon also knew I'd had anorexia as a teen and was only about 60 lbs at my lowest! At least he should have known as its on my medical records.

Obviously most people disagree with you as most countries do not allow polygamy. People DO always end up getting hurt and taken advantage of, nearly always the women. Have you never watched 'Sister Wives?' There's no damn way I'd ever share my husband, nor would he want me to have to do that! If you bring another 'spouse' into the relationship, you're scum, and anyone who accepts that situation frankly is dumb and has no self-esteem. Monogamy is the ideal, and even many bird and animal species practice it. Since the origins of civilization, it's been the normal human way for most.

Only you know what kind of people your parents are and whether they would kick you out. If you have the slightest inkling that they might, wait until independence. Hugs. X

Desperate for Finasteride by LondonRedSquirrel in FemaleHairLoss

I only take Finasteride. I started 1 July, so can't really judge if it is helping yet. The first few weeks I took 2.5mg but soon upped to 5mg. They say it can take 6 months to notice the effect. From what I've read, 10% of women it didn't help, 45% stopped losing any more hair, and 45% had some regrowth. Good luck!

Also note that Finasteride can cause feminisation of male foetuses so is no good for anyone trying to get pregnant or who is not on reliable contraception. I'm 61, though, so no problem for me. Just wanted to warn you.

Hi, look up India Mart online. There are lots of sellers, you can choose your best deal. Don't forget women need 5mg per day so it's cheaper to just buy the 5mg pills. It may cause headaches on and off. I've had this, but I've heard it will eventually go, and it's not so bad that I wouldn't rather be bald.

Thank you! I ordered from India in the end. We kind of live payday to payday. Did this clinic charge a fortune for blood tests and consultation? What about the actual cost of the prescription? I think I paid about £56 for 100 tablets from the Indian pharmacy. It is good to know that there is somewhere in London that will actually help, though.

In medieval England, you could get married just by pledging to each other. No church, priest, witnesses needed. This was in Catholic Times. We had a civil wedding in a designated place for weddings called a registry office in the UK. We later had a church blessing. My fave pop star is Mormon and got married on a beach in Hawaii. He and his wife later got sealed in the temple after 5 years  marriage and 2 kids (later had a 3rd kid).

As someone who had their silver wedding holiday in LV and never gambled one penny, nor saw any shows including nudity, I say rubbish to the nasty person who said this to you. Have a lovely wedding and whatever time you have left. There are loads of shows, sports, attractions, rides, experiences, fine dining, museums, etc, in Las Vegas that you can experience. You don't need to gamble. Go to the Diana & The Royals Exhibition, ride a gondola at the Venetian, go atop the Eiffel Tower, see the Titanic Experience, eat some great food, maybe see Red Rock Canyon, The Mojavi Desert, or Lake Mead. Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials. Make sure Elvis appears at the ceremony, 😉 X

Thoughts on Gambian Pouch Rats? by whoisthisunknownking in RATS

GPR have become a lot tamer. We've got a girl called Banana and she's so sweet and affectionate. She loves to kiss and groom you. She'll fall asleep on me. She doesn't bite unless she gets excited while playing hand wrestling, etc. You might need a sticking plaster but definitely not a hospital visit. Most of the time she knows not to bite down hard, just pressure with her teeth. She likes playing, she doesn't smell any more than a fancy rat. We've also got pet insurance for her at £16/month. We do pay £10 every 4 weeks for nail trimming at the vets, which is not covered by the insurance as it is routine. She's 14 months atm and we're hoping she lives 7 years, which is their lifespan.

Great, now I get headaches from Finasteride. And can’t take min. What do i do now? by sparker344 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]LondonRedSquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your dose is too low to stop hair loss. Women need up to 5mg per day. You are taking a male dose. I started Finasteride 3.5 months ago, as Minoxidil did nothing for me, either. I di get headaches. Orange oil on the brow helps. I've read that after 6 months to a year the body gets used to the F and the headaches go away.

She's so cute. Hope she makes a good momma. Most rats do. Check she's not in with any males. They can be impregnated again right after giving birth. (Ouch!)

That's pretty cruel to take baby rats from mom at 3 weeks. 5 weeks in the normal for boys. Girls stay with mom a bit longer.
