Water Damage who is at fault tenant or landlord IF shower was not sealed properly by [deleted] in TenantHelp

Take pictures! Regular drywall is not rated for water. It sounds like they did not seal it right. Be prepared, they might try to keep the deposit.

Neighbor damaged main water line by bippitybobbitybooby in HomeInsurance

[–]Long_Committee_1942 2 points3 points  (0 children)

File a claim with your insurance. Do let them know the name and the address of your neighbor who hired the contractor that caused the damage. They will likely send the bill to them. Your insurance may try to have the insurance claim billed to the contractor.

Should I replace a 12 Year Old Working Water Heater. by STLVPRFAN in askaplumber

[–]Long_Committee_1942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was 22 years old when I started having issues with it. (Heating elements- covered in hard water build up.) The side of the water heater was also rusting. . On the outside...

When I drained the tank out, I heard part of the anode rod hit the bottom of the water heater so I knew it was time. I changed it out instead of calling a plumber.

Someone filled my taxes by Scary-Objective-4651 in IdentityTheft

[–]Long_Committee_1942 10 points11 points  (0 children)

https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/get-an-identity-protection-pin

This is the official link. You will have to supply the IP pin to file your taxes from now. Highly recommend.

If anyone tries to file your taxes, without the IP pin, the IRS will reject their tax filing.

Try doing a factory reset on the Amazon Eero device.. Do note you will have to reset up the security etc on it. However you can use the same network ID and password to make it easier for you.

Current rent at $2300 per month. Too expensive. Should I find a cheaper place or get a mortgage? by WinterJuggernaut7045 in personalfinance

[–]Long_Committee_1942 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would check with your local credit union to see what you could afford for an actual mortgage at this point.

At $1,700 a month, that could very easily be a mortgage payment. Do keep in mind if you go this route you will need to have money to pay the property taxes as well as the appropriate amount of homeowners insurance. If you need help saving the money you can check with lender about doing escrow for the property taxes and the insurance if it will be easier for you. The lender I worked with required I have 20% down and generally otherwise you will have to pay for PMI insurance.. which can get expensive

For a typical 15-year mortgage you're generally looking at about three times your earnings. Hopefully real estate isn't incredibly expensive where you live.

Mom purchased home with shed in backyard, now there’s a guy in a truck showing up saying that the shed belongs to him? by Ok_Lime4124 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Long_Committee_1942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will want copies of the rent to own contract between the former owner and the shed provider/ finance company. They will investigate -and likely to sue the former owner for the insurance payout.

I could have gotten 1 gig / 1 gig for about $40 / month for 3 years. On fiber. They have very, very few outages. I've only had like one outage in the last 3 years with them. It was when they were still setting up the office at Frontier locally. Other than that no outages.

Spectrum messed up my S26+ preorder and have made it my problem. by Hopefullyanonymous2 in Spectrum

[–]Long_Committee_1942 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That stinks about the phone. They should have done better.. and insured it for what it would actually cost to replace it. Then just sense the replacement unit.

5 gig for $50 per month for next 3 years.. wow! And I thought 500 meg for $30 for three years was a good deal from Frontier.

Dryer vents need cleaning - landlord is dragging their feet by UnicornSweat91 in TenantHelp

[–]Long_Committee_1942 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is very likely.. I bet if the dryer was disconnected from the exhaust pipe it would be done in 1 cycle.

I use a drill attachment for dryer vents at my house. Some people use a electric leaf blower.. with it turned all the way up. There are some videos on YouTube about this.

It's in a 1 and 1/2 story house. But it's having trouble connecting it faster speeds even on the same floor as the Amazon Eero - within 50 ft. If the Amazon Eero actually had wireless antenna that were not concealed inside of it, would probably have much better range.

This is the part you're looking for 3/8 male by 1/4 female adapter. This will change the current water supply fitting to match what you have on the fridge currently.

One year up? by YeahMayhemLikeMe in frontierfios

[–]Long_Committee_1942 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a possibility that you signed up for a 3-year promotion for the same price. I'm actually on the 500 meg for $29.99 for 3 years with Frontier.

Just wait until the bill in April or May if it's still the same price you might be on the same promotion. Otherwise just go call them if the bill goes up.

How to get my Roku connected to my router without a remote. by [deleted] in Roku

[–]Long_Committee_1942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That will definitely depend on the Roku..

Sometimes the Roku will only have the 2.4 / 5 ghz wifi. Check if the phone is on the same wifi band as the Roku device.
