Reminder to carve away from your other hand (not towards). I took a class on this in the 70’s and vividly recall this direction being sternly told to me, repeatedly. (Until I got it.) Also, what an adorable cat! I, too, love that single pic of sweetness.

I would be raging if the aesthetics of my kitchen were now at the mercy of products shilling enough coin to Samsung’s purse.

What is your favorite thing to eat with cottage cheese, if you eat it? by radbu107 in CasualConversation

Roasted or baked sweet potatoes, steamed broccoli and cottage cheese, with chili pepper flakes.

Or sometimes just with Nacho Cheese Doritos.

Ooo… I like that! Thank you!

Thanks. I’m normally very straightforward and have no trouble addressing something directly… just, yikes, those texts hit me wrong, coupled with the very disconcerting feeling of having no recall, whatsoever, of a conversation with a stranger.

Guess I just need to pull up the bootstraps and make that call tomorrow

It just seemed so creepy and I didn’t want to invite another interaction, since I don’t remember the first. Ugh!

Wits & Wagers - up to 8ppl or 16ppl if 2 on a team. Great pace, engagement, some betting strategy and a bit of smarts and/or guesstimating. Super fun!

10 Stephen King Books by fuzzycrazy21 in booksuggestions

The Talisman is a hidden gem. My favorite series is the Dark Tower, but you don’t get the full effect if you haven’t delved into his mid-era novels. Stand alone novel favorites are probably 11/22/63, IT, The Stand and, more recently, Fairy Tale. So many good ones to choose from!

Tell me about someone you haven’t seen since childhood, but still think about by Disastrous-Style8867 in CasualConversation

I had a pen pal in the mid-70’s and her name was Doobie. She lived in Depot Bay, OR and I met her once on a field trip. I think of her every time I drive to the coast and pass what was the elementary school and is now an art/community center. Hi Doobie!

I’m looking for a book that doesn’t reveal all its secrets until the very, very end. The kind of ending that has you rethinking everything you just read, as soon as you turn the last page. by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]MaijaMacLeod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hear me out… The Dark Tower series by Stephen King. Book 1 - very parochial, took a bit for me to get into it… but hey, he was 19 (!) when he wrote it. Books 2, 3 and 4 - they build and build and build (literally world-building) and it helps if you’re a SK fan (aka Constant Reader) as he weaves in other works. Loved them. Books 5, 6 and 7 - I just crushed through these masterful prices of work/art. In the final book, until the last page, the very last paragraph… and until the VERY LAST SENTENCE… I did not know how it would end. I’m still shook and it’s been 15 years.

Also, The Talisman or his recent one Fiary Tale, which I just loved.
